Fishing holidays in the UK give you a great chance to enjoy some of our finest fishing spots and our most enjoyable landscapes; from the shores of Cornwall to the Highlands of Scotland. Here we take a look at some of the best UK fishing holidays and what you can expect from each.
Fishing Holidays in Scotland
Scotland had to come first on our list of great fishing holidays in the UK simply for the salmon fishing. The beautiful rivers and remote lochs make for a magnificent holiday and the highlights for most are salmon fishing on the Tay, Tweed, Spay or Dee. Scotland is bursting with incredible rivers to fish and you could happily fish here every year without even having a chance of getting bored. The rivers may be the highlight but the lochs and the sea are also bountiful places to set a line with Loch Lamond being particularly excellent. Besides the fishing Scotland is one of the most beautiful locations in the UK and perfect for an outdoor escape.
Fishing Holidays in Yorkshire
Yorkshire has some of the most beautiful countryside in the world and one of the most stunning coastlines of the UK. There are incredible places to fish throughout the county from the Dales to the seas. The rivers are a top favourite with the Calder, Ouse and Aire being three of the most popular fishing spots which are teaming with Chub, Bream and some large Pike. However, our favourite fishing spots lie off the coast where you can enjoy North Sea fishing at its finest. Whitby is probably the best place to head out from as there are lots of local guides and boat hire options and you’ll have a great chance of coming back with a boatful of fish.
Fishing Holidays in Wales
Wales offers some of the best fishing in the UK and has plenty of coarse, sea fishing and game fishing opportunities throughout its borders. We’d recommend heading to the mid and north of the country for the very best lakes and rivers in some of the most stunning scenery imaginable. The mountain lakes and gently flowing rivers are home to trout, carp, salmon and on the sea you can find trout and bass amongst a wide variety of other fish. The scenery is beautiful and the cosy cottages and small towns make for a fantastically relaxing fishing holiday.
Oxfordshire has some of the most interesting fishing opportunities in the country. Sure the rivers are fantastic and the scenery is beautiful for fishing but the real highlights are the private and public lakes throughout the county. Blenheim Palace is the highlight as you can lounge in the grounds of this incredible palace at a well-tended lake offering tench, perch and pike. The county boasts incredible lakes to fish at including Cheyney Manor lakes, Glebe Court lakes and Ladygrove lakes. There’s a new spot to explore every day amidst some of the most beautiful gardens and grounds and some of this region’s most spectacular countryside.
Fishing Holidays in Devon
Devon is one of the most beautiful counties in the UK and boasts incredible fishing amongst beautiful rolling moors and a rugged coast. Along the south coast you can find some of the best sea fishing in the country with almost every town having fishing boats for hire and guides if you need them. Inland the river Dart is a brilliant fishing stretch and you can set a line in a secluded forest or head to one of the many lakes that litter the moorlands. There are also a plethora of great fisheries to explore for a gentler fishing holiday. The scenery is spectacular in its own right and few destinations give you the sense of escapism Dartmoor and Exmoor can.
Wherever you choose to go fishing for your holiday we can offer you fantastic accommodation at an unbeatable price. Fishing holidays are the perfect way to relax and escape day to day life and these are just a few of the truly great fishing destinations the UK has to offer. With that in mind we wish you good luck on your fishing trip and hope you can bring back plenty of tasty treats!
