You don't want to just lounge around the pool, you want to have lots of opportunities to move around? You can leave directly from the Mas for long walks, mountain bike rides or horseback riding (2 horse riding clubs in Pompignan itself).

In the immediate vicinity you can practice canoeing on the Hérault, accrobranche (2 sites), climbing on the Taillade ridge (known throughout Europe judging by the number plates) and even paragliding from the Hortus cause which dominates the south of the plain or gliding above the mythical Pic Saint-Loup.

River, lake or beaches? You can choose between the sandy banks of the Hérault, the large flat rocks along the Vis, the sublime Salagou lake, and of course the gentle beaches of the Mediterranean. A 30 to 45 minute drive that is as enchanting as it is tranquil. Of course, we provide beach umbrellas and towels.

Do you like wine? More than 60 winegrowers (AOC Pic Saint Loup) will always be happy to let you taste their production.

You will also enjoy discovering the many artists who are inspired by the magic of Pompignan: wood sculptors, ceramists, painters, stone carvers.

There are now 3 of us for 6 hours to ensure the cleaning and disinfection of the premises between each rental. We are thus able to keep the time slot necessary for the preparation of the gite. The arrival time of 4pm and the departure time of 10am must be respected.
Between each rental, all the surfaces of the farmhouse are now treated twice: cleaned and disinfected with a virucide.
Particular attention is paid to the treatment of the most frequently used surfaces: keys, door handles, switches, remote controls, hairdryers, ironing boards and irons, stair railings, cupboard and wardrobe handles, desks, toilets, sinks and washbasins, tables, bedside tables, household appliances, tap handles, baby equipment, kitchen work surfaces and other bathroom surfaces.

P r o d u c t s u s e d
The disinfection of surfaces is carried out with professional products that comply with the EN14476 standard.
You will find hydro-alcoholic gel and cleaning products that meet the same EN14476 standard.

L i n e n t r e a t m e n t
The linen provided (kitchen linen, towels, pool towels, fitted sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases and pillow protectors) is entrusted to a professional laundry to be washed at high temperature (60° minimum).
This linen, delivered by the laundry under protective film, is put in place just before your arrival so that you can have your rooms fully prepared when you arrive. However, if you prefer to make the beds yourself, just let us know 24 hours in advance.

Lovely spacious and well equipped house with pool
We really enjoyed our stay at Ostal Philia as part of a family group. On arrival, we were very pleasantly surprised by the size of the house and the layout allowing for privacy as well as providing great communal spaces. Having a pool was a big advantage, with plenty of beach towels, as was the large kitchen and dining area outside for our family to enjoy. The decor inside the house was attractive and welcoming and Patrick and his wife had thoughtfully provided a changing table for our baby. Both kitchen areas were well equipped, everything was clean and well maintained. The information pack provided by Patrick gave us great insight into the local area and suggestions for things to do. We particularly enjoyed visiting the breathtaking caves at Grotte des Demoiselles as well as Avignon, Montpellier and the beach. We would also highly recommend Auberge Cigaloise in Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort where we had a lovely meal on the last evening of our stay. It was also nice to be within a village giving us the opportunity to walk to the boulangerie everyday for delicious pastries and a variety of breads. We would definitely recommend this property.

Spacious and well equipped house with pool
We have just returned from a lovely stay at Ostal Philia. We were very warmly greeted on arrival by Patrick who has an amazing knowledge of this area of France and gave us really helpful advice about places to visit. The house is large, beautifully decorated and very welcoming with plenty of room for our three families to enjoy being together as well as having their own space if needed. The added bonus was that there are two really well equipped kitchens and dining areas, the second being by the pool, an ideal place to sit and eat during the day. We had a small baby travelling with us and a changing mat and bath were there ready on our arrival. The house is in on the edge of a village with a really excellent boulangerie where we walked to each morning to buy delicious bread and pastries. We also enjoyed lunch at the local restaurant where I believe pizzas are available on Friday and Saturday nights. There are so many places to visit in the area such as the amazing Pont du Gard and the spectacular caves at La Grotte des Demoiselles. We also decided to investigate the beautiful cities of Avignon, and Montpellier (via the really efficient tram system recommended by Patrick) as well as spending time relaxing by the pool and enjoying a day on the beach. On our last day Patrick came over to see us together with his wife, Yvonne, they were both delightful. They obviously love this area very much and want to share it with their guests. Thank you Patrick and Yvonne, for all your help, advice and recommendations, we had a wonderful time in your lovely home.

Wonderfull location for relaxing stay
We were met by the delightfull owners Patrick and Evonne who explained the workings of the villa to us and nothing was to much trouble for them. Our stay was a wonderful experience in a very old property with a modern interior. The village was the archetypal French village that was a pleasure to explore. The owners had left a booklet with places to visit which we duly did and was not dissapointed. The beach of the grande motte was one hour away and the grandchildren were allowed to play safely in the sea without to much supervision. Altogether we had a wonderful time and will return. Thank you Patrick and Evonne

A great house for the family
The house is lovely, with everything you need, and the place is very cool, a little slice of La France Profonde. Get to know the lovely couple who serve you bread at the Boulanger - their son is the baker and he is really, really good - his cakes are to die for. On your way back from the Boulanger, call in at the Bar des Colonnes for your morning coffee - run by a rather bohemian lady, it's a delight. Go for Pizza at the weekend and meet the tame magpie - don't know who he rooms with, but he turns up every weekend and steals like only a magpie can. The surrounding country is unique and every valley beyond is a new experience and a new climate. Don't forget to swim in the Herault river and definitely do not miss riding on the Train à vapeur des Cevennes which chugs back and forth from Anduze to St Jean de Gard. We had a wonderful time - the weather was fantastic and the place even served up the most powerful lightning storm we've ever seen as a closer to our second week. Warmly recommended.

About the host

For nature lovers appreciating beautiful meetings
One motto: carpe diem.

Why they chose this property

Because the region and the house are absolutely magical and that fell under their spell.

Because we were literally enchanted by the small village of Pompignan, secluded in the middle of its unspoilt plain (the savannah, as the locals call it), with nothing less than 9 km away. There is only one small departmental road crossing Pompignan, you do not accidentally find it!

Because the locals are great people, hospitable, honest, intelligent and without airs.

Because the Ostal is really charming with its stone walls more than 1 m thick (natural air-conditioning guaranteed), the arched cellars, the corners and nooks everywhere, the 2 separated but adjoining gardens, the ancient barn converted into a summer kitchen and dining room, the direct access to the countryside.

Because we would like to allow you to return to the roots of a quiet life focusing around nature and meeting inviting people.

Because you can go directly from the Ostal for some splendid walks, some mountain bike rides (available) or horse riding tours (2 equestrian centres in Pompignan). Nearby, you can practice: canoeing on the Hérault, rock-climbing on the Taillade crest (renowned throughout Europe judging by the number plates) and even paragliding from the Hortus Mountain dominating the south of the plain.

Because, even with a pace of one visit a day, you should stay way more than 2 weeks to discover every well worth seeing place of interest without having to go far.

What makes this property unique

First the 4 suites (bedroom with living room, bathroom and detached toilets) that we have arranged are completely separated. Thus you can share moments together and preserve some privacy: the first ones to get up do not wake the others up...

Then, the large (45 m²) summer dining room, with its fully equipped kitchen (everything is in 2 copies in the Ostal), around the pool of stone, where you can have your meals from April to September.

The 2 separated gardens that we carefully look after to make them relaxing.

Finally, the richness and diversity of the sites to discover. Indeed, within a distance of 20 km: the Camisards museum (Mialet), the Demoiselles Cave (Laroque), the glass market building (Claret), the silk museum (Saint Hippolyte), the bamboo grove of Anduze, the Cévennes' small steam train (Anduze), the glassblowers' path, the Pitch Fork Museum (Sauve), the rocks sea, the Causse of the Hortus, the panoramic viewpoint and the amazing wind rose.
And more than 60 winemakers (AOC Pic Saint-Loup) who always take delight in letting people taste their production. Many artisans settled in the magical Pompignan: wood sculptors, ceramists, painters, stone carvers.

A bit further away, but that cannot be ignored: St-Guihem-le-Désert and the Pont du Gard, registered in the UNESCO´s world heritage list; the imposing Cirque de Navacelles, Nimes and its arenas, the Maison Carrée, the Magne Tower; and Montpellier of course, with the Musée Fabre (one of the most beautiful collection of France), the zoo (free!), the Place de la Comédie in the heart of the pedestrian district of Ecusson, etc.
