Share a postcode with the Queen! This spectacular family house, a classic London townhouse built in 1846 and quietly situated in a friendly and beautiful London terrace just 10 minutes' WALK from Buckingham Palace, boasts 6 bedrooms (great beds!), 2 sitting rooms (one with additional fold-out bed-chairs), a kitchen-dining room, a conservatory-study, 4 bath/shower/WCs (great showers!) & free unlimited wi-fi throughout. The lower ground floor (just one flight of stairs down) has its own kitchenette & walk-in shower, and can be separated off – perhaps for an older couple. Being laid out and housed on four floors (and some mezzanine floors), the house works well for extended families. There are 5 single beds, 2 king beds (150cm, 5'6' wide), 1 double bed & 2 bed-chairs (in the second sitting room). The main rooms have ornate ceilings, marble fireplaces, chandeliers & working window-shutters yet the house is fitted with with every modern convenience: washing machine/dryer, microwaves, dishwasher, hair-dryers, irons, SMART TVs (internet access, Netflix), gas-log open fire, digital radio/sound systems with iPad, iPhone/MP3 'docks', linen/towels, books, toys, DVDs, 2 x cots and 2 x highchairs. Cozy and warm in winter, an efficient air-cooling system keeps the top floors cool in summer. Outside there’s a suntrap terrace leading from the kitchen, plus a delightful patio garden wreathed in jasmine and wisteria. You also have key-access to an exclusive nearby ‘gated’ London garden square - a real 'secret garden' with wonderful plants and shrubs, a children’s play area and tennis courts. A great sports centre with public-access gym and swimming pools is a two minute walk from the house.

We keep the house in immaculate condition, constantly re-painting to remove scuff marks and renewing furniture and accessories regularly. Guests frequently comment on our level of cleanliness and attention to detail. A welcome pack of groceries greets you on arrival.

We pride ourselves on the fact that the house is imaginatively decorated and laid out in such a way that there are great opportunities for privacy, as well as for all members of the household to meet together sociably.

The location of this wonderful house is unbeatable. Although it is situated in the very heart of London, it is quietly positioned. The area is very safe and well served in every possible way. The neighbouring streets are full of great local shops (including supermarkets - open all hours - and specialist delicatessans), cafes and restaurants. At one end of the street is a local food market; at the other, under two minutes' walk from the house, Pimlico Underground ('Tube') Station and terrific local bus routes. From the house it is just a short stroll to Victoria Station, Tate Britain, the Thames, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Cathedral, St James’ Park, Battersea Park, Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Several theatres, too, are within easy walking distance, and it is only a short tube/bus/taxi ride (or you can walk) to Hyde Park, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, the West End, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, the National Gallery, the National Theatre, the National Film Theatre, the Festival Hall, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the London Eye, the London Aquarium and other main London attractions. There are easy transport links to all London airports and mainline stations, and London and regional bus tours. For those who like to run or jog, there are great routes along the River Thames and through the beautiful local streets and parks. Wonderful Multi Bedroom House In A Terrific Location

My family enjoyed our three-night stay in September 2016. Our group of five had an expectation for a clean wonderful house in a terrific location. This is exactly what we received. Walking distance to tube, places to eat & drink, and small store. Lots of space for everyone to relax. Owners made it easy to get keys. She gave us wonderful directions guides to local businesses & attractions. We would definitely stay here again! Mahalo Adrienne!

Fantastic Stay!

We booked Adrienne's place a day before we were set to arrive from the US after months of planning our vacation. The other VRBO property we booked tried to put us in another smaller apartment at the last minute after they claimed they had damage done to the one we rented.

I can attest that this property in Pimlico, which is owner operated, was wonderful! Adrienne was very accommodating on short notice. Her home is lovely and very clean. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of space to stretch out between the multiple levels. It is a stones throw from the Pimlico Tube station. There was a basket of goodies waiting for us and milk in the fridge. There were helpful instructions for everything from location of grocery stores to how to get around in London. We felt very safe in this neighborhood and we were able to walk to the river and the attractions. For everything else, we used the tube. I highly recommend this property. It was a happy ending to a very stressful beginning of our vacation.

Family haven in London

What a fantastic home. An amazing location with plenty of space. But it was the attention to detail and the attentive and super helpful customer service from the owners that makes it so special.

There were toys and high chairs available for kids and multiple sitting areas so we could all have some space. The owners have also compiled comprehensive help sheets which were great. If you have children or just want to stay close into London I highly recommend this property. Just be aware there are 4 flights of stairs ( which is normal but in case of mobility issues) and essentially only 2 showers in the 3 bathrooms.

Our children and their friends always loved it (nooks and crannies to hide in, among other things!) and it is so good to know that the rooms, landings and Christopher-Robin-stairs still echo from time to time with children's footsteps and laughter. It is probably 170 years now (the house was build in 1846) since children first romped through it. What a thought!

London Family Reunion

The property was a perfect place to explore London from. The street was very charming and the area was lovely with a small market that ran daily down the street. A Great Spot for Families

The highlight of this house is that it’s in a great location and very accessible to public transit. We traveled to London as a group of nine (including children), and the house had enough beds for everyone, and a comfortable living room space. It's a beautiful house with a lot of historic charm. The only criticism would be that while the house was clean, it smelled a bit musty and the bed linens could use updating. Pots and pans in the kitchen also need to be replaced. Great wi-fi.

Location

From the Owner

We purchased our central London home in 1985 and lived there until 2002. The moment we opened the door we loved it. It felt then, and feels now, as if only happy things have happened here - which can't possibly be true, since it's more than 150 years since it was built! We wanted to live right in the heart of London, and you can't get much closer to the heart than this. We also wanted a spacious house, with high ceilings and a sense of generations upon generations of people living there before us. And that is exactly what we got! We raised our family here, working from home, so the house has always been busy and full of children. When we left it, and downshifted to another part of London, we rejoiced that we didn't have to sell it, and that other people could now enjoy it too.

The remarkable thing about 'Pimlico' (the area in the London Borough of Westminster in which our house is), is that it is quite like a village, and yet it is right in the heart of perhaps the greatest city in the world. Neighbours know each other; our quiet street contains many family houses and has an active residents' association, the people in the shops are friendly, and yet it's cosmopolitan and fast-paced. In Pimlico you can be peaceful, yet never feel that life is passing you by.

  • The bathrooms and cloakroom are beautifully fitted. One has hand painted tiles depicting scenes from Charles Kingsley's famous Victorian story, THE WATER BABIES. All except one of the toilets, bathrooms and shower rooms has outside windows. All are newly tiled and maintained, with high quality fittings The showers are powerful (many of our guests have praised them!) and there is plenty of hot water. The top floor bathroom has roof lights as well as a window, so you can lie back at look at the stars! There is a WC on every floor, or on the half-landing, so easy access for all guests.

  • The beautifully decorated bedrooms are quietly situated, mostly at the back of the house, and have loads of hanging and other storage space. The one bedroom that is at the front of the house is on the top floor and has double glazing, even though the street outside is neither noisy nor busy. The bedroom floors are all well carpeted, the beds are very comfortable, with mattress and pillow protectors as well as lovely linen and bedspreads. Pillows, duvets etc. are of high quality. There are bedside lamps and dimmer switches - and three of the bedrooms have TVs and ensuite bathrooms. One of these is situated on the lower ground floor with a sitting room off it, as well as kitchenette and a walk-in shower and is wonderful for an older couple who can manage just one flight of stairs. The small ground floor bedroom with its own WC is great for someone with very limited mobility. Baby equipment includes cots, bedguards, baby-listeners, a highchair, many children's books, toys, DVDs

  • There are two sitting rooms (one contains two very comfortable fold-out bed-chairs) and two kitchens;: a kitchenette on the lower ground floor; and the main kitchen/dining room on the ground floor. This seats 12 comfortably. Another 6 people can eat on the floor below at a dining table.
