We bought this apartment in 1980 as a 'bucket and spade' holiday home for family holidays with our children. 36 years on we are now retired and bringing our grand children and we still love it. We love the area with its wonderful scenery,
its restaurants on the coast and inland with a lovely climate. We find the people very welcoming.
This has always been our holiday home, we come every year so you can be reassured of the personal touch and good local knowledge. We also personally keep the place up together. We enjoy evenings on the balcony sipping gin
and the tranquil garden with lovely pools. Short walks to great restaurants.
To begin with the girls at Escalacenter were wonderful, welcoming and helpful. They were both pleasant and professional.
Secondly L'Escala is truly one of the gems among the resorts we have visited over the years. Intimate in size and yet offering everything a larger resort would, but in a friendlier way. Supermarkets well supplied with good prices.Even the smaller store just a few hundred yards from the apartment was wallet friendly.
And last but not least: what a beautiful apartment you have. Perfectly placed to avoid balcony sun at both breakfast and dinner, nicely decorated and easy to keep clean and tidy. The swimming pools were perfect for shorter dips away from the beach. My daughter and I especially found the back pool with the trampoline calmer and slightly colder.
And for the first time ever we found kitchen utensils that could actually be used, such as sharp knives, "right" selection of pots and pans, a gas stove (YES), etc. One of the main highlights of our European holidays is shopping for and cooking good food with fresh produce. Your small but well equipped kitchen made it a joy.
I'd spoken to the owner about the apartments suitability for young children and was made aware of the balcony- I decided to go ahead and book (the apartment is on the 5th floor). The apartment was a good size, clean, with a TV (handy for the children) and lots of useful information about the surrounding area. The children also loved the 3 pools and the fact that it was less then a 10 minute walk to a busy but clean and shallow beach with plenty of choices to eat, drink etc. Also two supermarkets within a couple of minutes walk. We would recommend the apartment for those without children or with older children as we didn't feel relaxed having the door to the balcony open with the children around. Finally, well suitated to explore some amazing places throughout Catalonia.
Flat was compleet. Kids had a ball in the bathtub and the WIFI and DVDplayer were great. Only a 7-10 minute walk to the beach, even with a todler. Pool and grounds are well kept. Only down side was the double bed, it squeeked and creeked with everything move made and was about 10cm to short and at 1.70 and 1.85 we don't think we're the tallest of people!
It is a lovely property in a convenient location in L'Escala. Close to all amenities. The property has all that you will need for your stay. Three swimming pools in a private environment came in handy if you wanted to relax at home.
Tried the local La Clota restaurant as recommended by the owner Sonia. Worth a visit. I was keen on paella and sangria and it was lovely.
I would recommend this as a place to stay in L'Escala. Lovely apartment with a Spanish feel in a great town.
The only downside was we had to go back to the UK after having a great holiday in Spain!
We want to make Spain our biannual/annual holiday, and this apartment will be definitely our holiday place to stay.
We really enjoyed our holidays, the apartment is ideally situated. Beach and supermarket is just a few minutes by foot. There are also a lot of restaurants in walking distance. The apartment was clean and tidy and plenty big enough for us (2adults and 2 children) we did not use the pool as our kids were enjoying the beach so much. The sea is calm and shallow, ideal for young children and one of the best beaches in the area. We hired a car but with the apartment so ideally located it is not necessary. We did however, explore some of the other surrounding beaches as we had the use of a car. Can only recommend this apartment.
The description of the apartment does it justice; clean convenient and in good order it's proximity to the beach and town makes it a good pick.
Preferring to mix restaurant eating with self catering. This apartment meets all basic needs. The washing machine is a domestic bonus, keeping your packing needs to a minimum.
I would commend car hire from the airport if you are flying, the region is a definite hit and l'escala is quite uncommercial; a definite positive in our view.
This is somewhere we intend to return to.
We just returned from a very relaxing holiday. The appartment greatly located with all walking distance to the beach, supermarket and restaurant, but still in a quiet surroundings. We only used our car once to get the train in Figueres to Barcelona!
Kids enjoyed the beach (very shallow) and the pools.
Great value for money at this peak season.

.12 miles from motorway In the attractive region of EMPORDA. close to coastal resorts of ROSAS and ESTARTIT. Two miles from the ruins of AMPURIAS site of the Greco/Roman ancient cities- It is situated among pinewoods next to excellent secluded beaches overlooking the Bay of Rosas
.The picturesque medieval village of PALS is about 15 miles from L'Escala. It has been tastefully preserved and restored with several good restaurants.
The busy town of FIGUERES is about 15 miles from L'Escala where you can visit the world famous Dali Museum. You can also visit Dali's home at Port Lligat near Cadaques and that of his wife GALA at the castle of Pubol near L'Escala.

Also nearby LA BISBAL is devoted to production of pottery and ceramics.
.SAN MARTIN is a pretty village beside the beach near AMPURIAS.. Miles of golden sand fringed with pine trees stretch in either direction. The tiny village square is very atmospheric with open air bars and restaurants. A favourite place.
CADAQUES. A spectacular journey will take you to Cadaques and you will feel rewarded for the effort. It is one of the most well known resorts with white washed houses and steep picturesque streets, well loved by artists and close to home of Salvador Dali
MEDES ISLES. Trips by glass bottomed boats to these islands to view the underwater marine life are very interesting .
THINGS WE ENJOY.
Just sitting on the balcony enjoying the view with a glass in our hands.
Walking down to the harbour to watch the fishing boats arrive.
Walking to Montgo Bay for breakfast - takes about half an hour.
Also walking in the Aiguamolls wildlife/wetlands park area just along the coast
Best Beach - Ampurias to San Martin. In summer take the little train.
Restaurant La Clota. - down to the Port on the right. Run by Kathleen and son John - she is Scottish - so you will find a friendly welcome - they will give you all the Local 'Low Down'.
Food is good and reasonable - mention us.
Pizza Pazza - On the promenade - Riells Beach. Very good take away and eat in Pizzas. Jolly atmosphere.
Our favourite place of all is the little square at San Martin - beyond Ampurias. Meson El Conde restaurant in the square if you want tapas and fishy things. Also restaurant Casa Coll - you get a warm welcome and excellent food at reasonable prices.
Peretellada - restored pretty village - visit the restaurant in the courtyard in the square - just don't order too much - they think they are feeding an army.
BREAD SHOP - It is 50 metres away
