This flat is on the first floor, and has a bedroom two single beds pushed together, a sitting-room with sofa-bed making into two single beds, kitchen, bathroom with bath/shower/WC and balcony. It faces South with a view of

the Staubbach Falls and the Jungfrau mountain.


About the property

Chalet Horner

The chalet is in the middle of the village but set back from the street in its own 1/2 acre garden.

There are 3 hotels with restaurants 1/3 minutes walk from the chalet. The bus to Stechelberg/Schilthorn cable car is just accross the street.

A baker, butcher, dairy, Internet corner and laundrette are all within 1 minutes walk. On the way to the station are a Coop shop, banks and post office. The stations to Wengen/Kleine Scheidegg (famous for the longest men's World Cup downhill ski race) and to Murren are 4 minutes walk.

For the younger at heart, there is a pub/disco nearby.

All flats have a satellite TV and parking space. WiFi is available for a small fee.

Winter sports: skiing, snowboarding, cross-country, winter hiking, tobogganing, skating, and tandem paragliding.

Summer sports: hiking, mountain climbing, swimming, mountain biking, river rafting, fishing, windsurfing and paragliding.

Interlaken is 20 minutes away where there is the new Mystery Theme Park.

Winter Resort details: The Jungfrau Skipass covers both sides of the valley and also the Grindelwald ski lifts. Under the towering mountains of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau there are 125 miles of ski runs suitable for beginners to advanced skiers. Some slopes extend to 7 miles. There is a choice of 45 mountain railways, cablecars and skilifts. Also 60 miles of well-prepared hiking paths. There is a special pass for non-skiers.

Summer details: Lauterbrunnen is an excellent starting point for trips to the Jungfraujoch (the highest railway and restaurant in Europe) and Schilthorn. There are also many miles of well signposted hiking trails. It is 8 miles from Interlaken, the town between the lakes of Brienz and Thun. There is a swimming-pool, tennis courts and mini-golf in the village. There are organised tours to the mountain huts on the Alp to see how they make cheese. The village has local lace-makeing and a Pottery.

A James Bond breakfast is served on the top of the Schilthorn made famous by the film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'.

The chalet is 8 miles from the newly opened 'Jungfrau Park' in Interlaken. This is a theme park to suit all ages.

General Information: Lauterbrunnen is also easily reached by train from Zürich and Geneva airports. There are special Swiss rail concessions that can be bought in your own country. The rail service is excellent and a car is not really necessary.

Most restaurants in the village serve local Swiss food (also international food). Night-life is available in Wengen and Interlaken. In summer there are local concerts of Yodeling, local brass band, traditional dancing, flag-throwing and Alpenhorn.

and ski instructor. We built the chalet in 1963. He died many years ago and I stayed in this lovely valley.

Over the New Year the minimum stay is 7 nights. The prices include electricity, central heating, hot water, bed linen, towels. The only extra is the local tax of Sf. 3.20 per adult per night.

Charming Chalet

What a find! We loved our stay at this charming chalet nestled in the heart of the village of Lauterbrunnen. We were in the Lauberhorn unit for 3 nights in July. It was the perfect size for me and my husband and our college age son, and the price was good for this area. It was great to have a kitchenette with fridge. The views from the balcony of the mountains and Staubbach Falls are stunning! What a joy it was to sit on the balcony and take in this marvelous vista! The chalet is walking distance to everything you need in town and to local transportation. Lauterbrunnen is a great jumping off point for exploring more of the region. Teresa was very responsive to my emails and accommodating to our needs. There was free parking on the property as well. We highly recommend this chalet and would stay there again if we ever return to this beautiful region in the Swiss Alps.

Perfect Place

We journeyed to the heart of the Swiss Alps and found the perfect place to stay in the amazing village of Lauterbrunnen. Teresa's description of her property doesn't do it justice. The convenience, cleanliness, and hospitality are unmatched. We stayed in the Junfrau for 5 days, then moved to the Lauberhorn for 5 more. Both provided a tremendous sense of peace amidst amazing beauty. We loved it so much that we are returning in May 2017 to stay at the lovely Chalet Horner again (and wish we didn't have to come home!).

Like Living in a Postcard

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Chalet Horner in Lauterbrunnen. The apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The beds and pull-out couch were comfortable. It's beside the train station but we never noticed train noises. It's well located in the center of town a short walk to stores, restaurants, laundromat and the train station. The view from the balcony of Staubbach Falls and the mountains was unbelievably beautiful. Teresa was very quick to reply to questions and was very helpful and friendly. We hope to come back soon!!

Central location

Set in the centre of town and in close proximity to shops, restaurants and the railway station. Whilst some may find the noise of the frequent trains intrusive this is more than compensated for by the views from the small balcony.

The apartment itself is compact but best use has been made of the limited space available. Storage space is adequate as are the cooking facilities.

The decoration/furnishings are somewhat tired but everything was spotlessly clean.

Teresa is friendly and helpful with an in depth knowledge of the local area.

Had a wonderful time in Lauterbrunnen. Chalet Horner was an excellent spot. Ideal for a family of 4. Close to the train station, and all amenities. It was warm and comfortable and ideal for 3 nights. Thanks Teresa for making it a pleasant stay.

Ideal Spot!

My husband and I stayed in the Lauberhorn apartment in Chalet Horner in June 2016. It has a perfect location within walking distance of the train station, grocery store and the small village restaurants and shops, but more importantly, the view from the balcony is beyond compare! Sitting there looking out at the Staubbach waterfall and the spectacular mountains beyond was like a dream! And the apartment itself was very clean and well-equipped, and cozy for two people. Teresa was very responsive from our initial contact right through our departure. I would highly recommend this property.

Lauterbrunnen is in the valley with Wengen and Jungfraujoch on one side and Murren/Schilthorn on the other side. It is 8 miles from the town of Interlaken which has the new Jungfrau Theme Park.

The Lauterbrunnen Valley is one of the most spectacular glacier valleys in the world. It has wonderful alpine flowers in the Spring. There is also the Staubbach Falls which were painted by Turner. There are also the spectacular Trummelbach Falls coming down inside the mountain from the Jungfrau Glacier.

Other Activities: winter and summer hiking, tobogganing, cross-country skiing

Ski: There are 45 mountain railways, cable-cars, and ski-lifts under the peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains. There are 125 miles of excellent ski-pistes for skiers and snow-boarders of all catergories with ski-schools. The highest piste starts at 9748 feet and the longest run is 7 miles.
