Welcome to "Cliffside." Perched on a beautiful spot looking west over Great Moose Lake, enjoy spectacular sunsets, swimming, great fishing, and family fun in this well appointed 2,400 sq. ft. home. Cliffside features three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and is thoughtfully designed for entertaining both adults and young ones alike. All three levels feature their own bedroom and bathroom, sleeping two on the second floor, two on the first, and four on the ground floor.

The main floor features a full kitchen with dining and sitting area with a walk out deck for grilling and enjoying the lake view. A massive two story propane fireplace overlooks the cathedral ceiling great room. The second story has a bedroom with half bath and a balcony overlooking the lake and the main floor. The bottom floor "game room" is fully equipped for fun, including a ping pong table and an old fashioned Popcorn Machine to enjoy movie nights on the large screen TV. A selection of movies are available for you or you can sign in to your Netflix account. A large selection of board games are also available.

**Please select Videos (beside photos) to see a better views of the property and the lake** A field stone and granite patio lead to a staircase which brings you to the lake. A new dock was installed in June of 2017. The water is crystal clear and the lake bottom is firm gravel and stone, perfect for swimming. For the little ones, an easy zero grade walk in from the small beach makes exploring easy. Please note the staircase to the lake would not be recommended for young children unsupervised or for people with mobility limitations.

Spend your days swimming, kayaking, fishing, and playing in the beautiful water of Great Moose Lake. Frequent loon sightings, gorgeous sunsets and tranquil views are a part of the experience at "Cliffside". On a clear night the star gazing is spectacular from the deck or lawn.

Nearby Hartland features a grocery store and restaurant, along with a hardware store. Only 20 minutes away, Newport has a Walmart, Pizza Hut, Dunkin' Donuts, along with many other stores. Palmyra Golf Course is only 10 minutes from the house. Bangor is about 50 minutes. The iconic Acadia National Park, located on the beautiful Mount Desert Island and home to Cadillac Mountain is approximately a 1 hour and 45 minute drive from the property. Given the size of the park you can easily hit many of its best destinations inside of a days journey. Bar Harbor, the bustling town on Mount Desert Island is a great location for shopping, dining and embarking on a number of sea faring excursions.

In the winter enjoy nearby snowmobile trails, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. There is also at least one or two ice fishing derbies each season. If downhill skiing is your preference, New England's premier skiing resort at Sugarloaf USA is only 60 miles away. Smaller ski resorts are closer.

We recently acquired this home and will continue to add updated photos highlighting the beautiful outdoor aspects of this property.
Suitability: children welcome, non-smoking only, pets not allowed, wheelchair inaccessible.

Peaceful Getaway
This property is amazing and was equipped with 2 kayaks, 1 paddle board and a swim dock. We have 5 children ranging in ages from 22-9 years old. All 5 children LOVED this vacation and we spent so much quality time in the water together. It's high praise when every child claims this vacation is their all time favorite. This is the second time we've rented this property and it was just as wonderful as 3 years ago. Scott's home is the perfect peaceful getaway!

Great Vacation, beware the Summer Heat...
Recently stayed for 2 weeks in mid-July. House & property are beautiful & fantastic, clean & well prepped. 2 families (4 adults, 3 kids) & had plenty of room. Internet works well, good enough for streaming services. Deck has been updated w/ composite, railing balusters replaced by horizontal steel cables (nice upgrade). Loft inside got same steel cable upgrade. 4 stars only because house can get stifling hot. 85 degrees w/ windows open and fans going. Owners did install a portable AC prior to our visit, but the 12k BTUs barely made a dent. AC was next to the kitchen table, so at least during meals & games, had cool air blowing on us. Some nights few adults slept on the basement floor to get away from the heat. I recommend pair of window units on opposing sides of 1st floor, consider venting the gas stove out wall thru cabinets, & curtains on the high windows (sun bakes front of the house from 12pm on). Grill is a Charbroil Commercial InfraRed type, w/ solid perforated grates. After cleaning the grill extensively still seemed to smoke profusely during use, & temperature control was tricky. Prefer to see a Weber Genesis & spare propane tank on hand. Master suite upstairs is ½ bath, expect to shower on the main floor. Kitchen is fully stocked. Ample seating everywhere (house, yard, water). 2 kayaks and a paddle board available, & kids caught numerous small fish from dock. Expect a workout getting to/from the lake. 6-7 flights equivalent (no joke about “cliffside”). Elderly would struggle. Multiple landings for rest, & picnic table before the final flight down to the dock. Dock and swim platform are fantastic. Dock has 4 wooden Adirondack chairs, swim platform has 2 built in loungers. Mooring for any boat/power sports you bring. Dock is unanchored and tying to it against house rules. Shoreline is gravel (if considering beaching). Boat launch on the opposite shore, about 20 min car ride. No fuel on lake, bring gas cans. Bugs were fierce at dusk, so limited outside night activity. Expansive patio w/ seating and lighting, fire pit w/ some firewood provided, corn hole game, ping pong with paddles and balls(serious players, bring your own paddles). Dart board, but no darts(that we found). Popcorn machine works well, packets provided above the fridge. TV & soundbar w/ sub make movie night fun. Enjoyed our stay, would consider renting again. Thanks Scott and Kirsten!

Why they chose this property

Thanks for looking at our property at Cliffside. In Maine many families have a "camp" which they grew up with as a focal point for family gatherings and summer fun on the water. My wife and I wanted to give our family the same gift and memories. We spent many years travelling the state, renting different properties and exploring new lakes until we finally discovered Great Moose Lake, and the property at Cliffside. Growing up only 45 minutes away, we were frankly surprised to find this hidden gem among busier and more well known lakes in the state. The property itself is a terrific place to relax, unwind, and have fun with plenty of space for adults and kids alike. We hope you decide to give Cliffside a visit and know that we won't be far away if there's anything you need during your stay.
