It has its own little church, Roman ruins, a unique large swimming pool filled with the waters of a mountain stream, badminton court and table tennis. The stable has been converted into a self-contained apartment - the bottom apartment - with a large living room and dining facility, and a fully functional open fireplace. It has a convertible sofa for two extra guests, new modern kitchen (with dishwasher) large shower room, double and twin bedroom. It has its own separate entrance and patio garden area for eating and barbecuing. It is a minute's walk to the swimming pool.

The Veneto: The Veneto is greener and has a more comfortable climate than more southern parts of Italy. It has a wealth of wonderful historic cites: Venice, Verona, Vicenza, Asolo and Treviso are all easily accessible by the excellent, cheap and efficient Italian train service which is just 10 minutes from the apartments. You can even get to Florence from our local station by Eurostar in about 3 and a half hours!
The Veneto and Venice have never been more economical to visit. Because of the huge difference in air ticket prices day-to-day, we are not insisting on a particular change-over day as long as it fits with bookings we already have. This also means we can offer extra nights beyond our minimum seven, pro rata the weekly rates.
Things to see and do: There is so much else to experience in the Veneto. From the delightful local restaurants and trattorias where you eat so well and so cheaply to hang gliding off San Boldo for the more adventurous. Lago de Santa Croce which is Italy's most famous lake for wind-surfing is only half an hour's drive. And the beautiful beaches of the Adriatic are about one hour's drive away. It goes without saying that the Veneto has some wonderful Palladium villas, churches, cathedrals and museums all within easy distance from Collaldra. And Venice speaks for itself with its Grand Canal, the cathedral of San Marco, churches, galleries and the Islands easily reached by the vaporetto (water bus).
Local Events: The great local markets, Vittorio Veneto, Conigliano and Piave de Soligo - Monday, Friday and Saturday all within a 20 minute drive - are a must where you can buy anything for very little money. The people are very helpful and friendly even if you don't speak the language.
There are may other attractions for example from June through to September there are festivals throughout the area where they celebrate the harvest and anything else they can think of just so they can eat, drink, talk, laugh and dance to local bands under the stars
One of the most popular sports in our area because of the hills is cycling.
We can arrange to hire bicycles and also put you in touch with the local cycling clubs.

About Jacky Stoller (The Owner)
My husband, Barrie Keeffe is a playwright, screenwriter and University lecturer - I am a Television Producer & Company Director. Jacky Stoller (The Owner) purchased this apartment in 1990
Why Jacky Stoller (The Owner) chose Treviso area
We were looking for a large old property with a view to turning part of the property into holiday apartments and eventually a summer school. Collaldra when we found it was very dilapidated and in need of modernisation which was only to be expected from a 16th century farmhouse. We have gradually changed the house, apartments and grounds and we hope without losing the character of the old house.
What makes this apartment unique
The house is on a hill in beautiful grounds with glorious views of the pre-Dolomite hills with their snow capped peaks. In the summer there is always a cool breeze and the natural pool - filled with water from the mountains - is wonderfully relaxing and is supposed to be therapeutic Even the Italians when they come up to see us call it 'a piccolo paradiso'!
There is a 25% deposit required at the time of confirmation of booking.
Final payment to be made two weeks prior to arrival. Sterling & Euro cheques accepted. Cookery lessons available on request at the time of booking and paid for direct.
Electricity, heating, gas and bedlinen and bathroom towels are all included in the price.
Extra cleaning staff available if required.

Visited twice and will visit again
We have visited twice - 2015 and 2016, both times at the end of august (by coincidence), and both time we stayed in the lower apartment. There are just the two of us. We have used our time there as a de-compression from city life and stressful work, reading, sleeping, swimming and eating, but both time the people in the other apartment have used Collaldra as a base for cycling, sight-seeing, and exploration. Why move from under the wisteria terrace - apart from to dip in the pool or top up the sun tan?!! It really is a 'little piece of paradise' with the glorious dolomites around. We have gone to Venice for a week after staying here. The apartment is comfortable, clean and with basic but adequate kitchen equipment - but Jacky is very happy to find things that you may require, if necessary (we did not need to ask for anything). We very much hope to visit again. Thank you, Jacky and Barrie for creating such a lovely, peaceful place.
Beautiful setting in the hills
We stayed in Jacky and Barry's top appartment with our three boys in this beautiful setting. The garden and pool were very much enjoyed by all the family, and the badminton and table tennis are great fun too. Jacky had kindly done a big shop for us as we were arriving on a bank holiday and was very warm and welcoming, as were the rest of the staff. We hope to return soon!
Venice and the Veneto
We arrived at the tail end of June and enjoyed a couple of lovely weeks in the Veneto. Our apartment had almost everything we needed, and Barry and Anita, the lovely house keeper, were only too happy to help with a few small extras (Jackie arrived a few days after us).
Our weather was unseasonably wet for a few days, but this didn't hold us back. We were easily able to get into Venice, where the weather was glorious, in around an hour, including our short drive into town to catch a train. Magical, and well worth the effort. Verona (complete with its own Colosseum!) and Padua are also well worth investing the 1 - 1.5 hours it takes to drive. There were plenty of other local towns and villages to visit, and a nice pool to sit by when the weather got dryer (although a little tricky to get in and out of for those not so dexterous).
Our hosts, Barry and Jackie were very friendly and helpful and I very much enjoyed Barry's tales of his times in the film and stage industry.
Whilst the cottage was rustic, a few miles outside of the small local town and up a track, this is just how we like it and it had everything we needed to make for a very happy holiday.
Thank you so much, Barry & Jackie, Anita & Lorenzo, for a lovely couple of weeks.

Superb base to explore the Veneto
My family spent a wonderful week in the bottom apartment. Nothing was too much trouble for jacky and barrie, who were on hand and great hosts. The local area has some super items of interest, local caves, lake, and mountains. Day trips to Venice and Verona were all very possible from this beautiful location. With three teenagers there was plenty to do on site, the children spent many happy hours in the superb pool, also a meadow with badminton, and table tennis. We would definitely recommend as a place to stay and explore the veneto.
Excellent break from the hustle and bustle of life
Just spent a peaceful and enjoyable week at Collaldra. Jacky and Barrie were great hosts – very friendly and welcoming. Jacky provided a helpful guide to basic phrases when dining out, and details of interesting things in vicinity and we made good use of this. We stayed in the bottom apartment. The lounge/dining area was comfortable. TV/DVD player was provided although TV had limited English channels. Kitchen well equipped. Pool was well maintained and just the job for cooling down. Great to be able to use table tennis table and badminton net. Beware after dusk though, the mosquitoes get you! Wine in the supermarkets was cheaper than England, food fairly comparable. Jacky recommended the agriturismo (local farm providing a restaurant quality meal at a good price) – well worth doing. We had a lovely week in a beautiful setting – Highly recommended.
I spent a wonderfully relaxing fortnight at Collaldra in July 2009 and have every intention of returning in 2010.
Tucked up in the foothills of the Dolomites, this house provides spectacular views and a real taste of Italian rural life. On days when we were feeling active, there were walks in the surrounding hills and day excursions to Venice and Verona. Or- on days when we felt like doing very little- there was a beautiful pool with water sourced from a mountain spring to swim in and "flop" by. In the evenings we would dine al fresco at the house or visit one of the many wonderful local restaurants recommended by our hosts, Barrie and Jacky (who were very warm and friendly, provided great service, and had a wealth of knowledge about the local area.) We can't wait to return!

Activity and Interests
Nestling in the foothills of the Dolomites Collaldra is our lovely 16th century farmhouse close to Venice, Verona (for world famous opera) Treviso, Vicenza, Padova, Asolo to the South and Cortina, Trieste, Austria and Slovenia to the north. It is in easy reach of the beautiful beaches of the Adriatic. We are also right in the middle of the Prosecco area - wherever you go the fields are covered with the prosecco grapes and there are many places where you can stop and sample the delicious wine.
There is a great shopping to be had at our local towns Conigliano and Treviso with inexpensive markets on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.
For the more adventurous there is wind surfing available at Italy's most famous lake, Lago de Santa Croce which is only half an hour's drive and there is an 18 hole golf course at Cansiglio which is a three-quarters of an hour's drive from Collaldra. Horse riding is also available locally.
We have had some really serious cyclists staying with us and this is just one of their quotes:
"One of my great joys in life is cycling and especially cycling through beautiful scenery in great weather. The Veneto in July provided scenery and weather to die for. I had by chance booked accommodation in a cycling nirvana especially the route to the Passo San Baldo where the road rises approx 650m at an average of 7% gradient and has a series of ramps connected by hairpins and it is as gruelling as it is beautiful. The climb to the top is rewarded with views to the south over the flat Venetian plain all the way to Venice and the north to the "real" Alps/Dolomites.
The whole area is a paradise for cyclists with many quiet back roads and marked trails to explore. There are also marked routes around the Prosecco Vineyards which not cycle specific do follow quiet and scenic routes.
He ends by saying: 'If you are considering a holiday in the Veneto and would like to do some cycling while there then Collaldra should definitely be on your short list".
We are also connected through our local town of Conegliano to fast rail services that include the Eurostar. Venice is 40 minutes away, Florence is 3 hours and Verona & Vicenze 90 minutes.
Other Activities: Cultural visits to Venice, opera at Verona, Palladian villas at Vicenza, Treviso with Florence three and a half hours from our local station by Eurostar. An all day river trip down the Brenta Canal from Vicenza to Venice is also a must see passing - and stoppping for lunch - at the most beautiful Palladian villas en route.
NB: If you would like to read our cyclist's 2 page recommendation including where to book bikes etc., I would be happy to email it to you.

- We now have mobile broadband. But not suitable for video games etc as would be too expensive. Satellite television available in the apartment together with a DVD player. We have a vast selection of DVDs in the house - mostly in the English language. We do have a small number of French films available. The outside eating area seats 8 under a canopy of wisteria which is cool in the summer. There is an old old-fashioned barbecue also outside which works perfectly. As shown in picture for bottom apartment.
