Self catering family rental with pool set in quiet location with mountain views

Well equipped villa with communal pool. Quiet hillside location with spectacular mountain views from patios, sun and shady areas all day. Approximately half a kilometre, less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of Peñiscola, blue flag beaches and the famous Citadel.

Peniscola enjoys a vast range of amenities including many quality restaurants and shops.

The property comprises 3 bedrooms with king size en-suite, double, and twin. Two of the bedrooms enjoy direct access to a good size upper terrace with outstanding views. There is a house bathroom (with bath/shower) and washroom/toilet downstairs.

Parking for 3 cars.

Property benefits from full air-conditioning and extensive outdoor living space, perfect for relaxation/dining, having being constructed to a very high standard. Also in summer there is usually a cool evening breeze blowing through the valley, which in the season can be most welcome!

Children of all ages are welcome not recommended for toddler

A well presented, clean villa in a great location.

We were met by the agents Keith and Liz at the property, very friendly, showed us around the villa and gave helpful advice about the area. Please note, that new management company do not filter the pool until 1st July onwards, although we still used it. Property has everything you could need and is very clean and tidy. The new airport at Castellon is just under 1 hour drive away and makes getting to and from Peniscola easy. Villa is ideally located to walk to the beach and the old part of Peniscola to visit the castle and many shops and restaurants. Fantastic location to enjoy a peaceful nights sleep with the town only a short walk away. Would definitely recommend.

a home away from home

The villa was really well equipped but it is the outdoor terraces that delight. Whether it's a leisurely breakfast, a BBQ dinner or a nightcap after a night in town you'll have that feeling of well being and relaxation no matter which terrace you choose. The villa and Peniscola are ideal for a family holiday but I would say that the steps around the villa are not suitable for toddlers. We had a fab holiday there and it started when Liz and Keith met us at the villa. They are lovely and friendly and gave is great information about the area.

Very Good

The property is a good size, with a lovely outdoor terrace for BBQ's etc.

The pool area is nice, but the water was a little cold. The villa is a 10-15 minute walk away from the town - but this is down hill on the way there and up hill on the way home.

The property was clean. The air conditioning worked well.

The villa had everything we required.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that the pool was a little cold, but because it is solar heated is very much dependant on weather. This means that in early June and late September it may not always be ideal. Thank you for your comments.

Holiday successfull

After last year in august, we returned again to this Villa in July. Must say that everything is done to spend a very good time:

- in first, all information given is true about this Villa... and all comments left by the other tourist ( Bodo, Stewart, and Burnie) confirmed my opinion.

- Then, Peniscola is beautifull with its citadel. You have the choice of many restaurants.The beach extends until to Benicarlo ( 8 kms)

In resume, we will have only pleasant surprises.

Owner's Response: We are always very pleased when guests return as this suggests that they have enjoyed Peniscola and also our house which we think represents great value for money at any time of year. This French family have stayed for 5 weeks over the last 2 years they love the pool and the beach and the ability to get into town quickly to enjoy everything. Peniscola has a great deal of natural charm and currently there are further (sympathetic) improvements being made (2010) to the centre in order to pedestrianise more streets which is a great idea.

beautiful villa ingood location

we ( 3 adult + 2 children - from germany ) had a great time in Peniscola.

This is already our seconed call at this villa. First call was june 2009 for 2 weeks and now in 2010 from june to july for 3 weeks. Again a beautiful time. Villa has a very high standart and equipped with all necessary devices like dishwasher, washing machine, air conditioning .....!

Location is very good! 10 minutes by feet or 2 minutes by car to the centre of Peniscola. At the villa at all times very quiet to relax.

Spanish neighbours very friendly.

Common pool is close to the villa, size 10mtr x 5mtr. Enough space for us 5 but reminder that there are 9 villas able to use the pool.

Fortunally some of them are not inhabit! We were almost alone in the pool all the 3 weeks!

Peniscola is a beautiful place for shopping, sight seeing and dining.

The beach is wonderful and the water clean. From the first week of july it's becoming very crowded due to high season. So parking and using the beach is becoming a bit difficult. If car is available there is a quit beach in benicarlo ( 8 km far ) very close to the fishing harbour.

Otherwise you can use the beach in vinaroz ( 15 km far ) what i prefer due to high waves wich is very funny with children!!!.

All in all i must say we were suprised that our seconed call at the villa was same beautiful than the first onel.

For sure we will be back for a third call in the future.

What is particularly encouraging is that this German family have stayed at our house for a total of 5 weeks already and are planning to return! - clearly they find the whole experience very special. We now have a number of returning families who list the main advantages as proximity, quietness, very spacious exterior and the all important air conditioning. We tend to think that these factors combined make for a first class holiday in a truly spectacular setting.

A great holiday destination

We had a great holiday at the villa, set in hills just behind Peniscola and looking over quiet green countryside. It is in a great position with easy access to the town and its beaches, by car its 3-4 minutes or easy walking distance of around 10 minutes. The accommodation is maintained to a high standard and is very comfortable for 6 people. 3 double/twin rooms, (1 with ensuite facilities) and a large family bathroom upstairs and a downstairs loo ensure there are plenty of choices when everyone is getting ready for an evening out at one of the excellent local restaurants, we discovered during our stay. The villa is also air conditioned which meant that we could sleep comfortably even as the temperatures soared.

The outside living space is excellent with a large patio directly outside the villa complete with sun loungers and a dining table and chairs. A second raised patio and small garden, offered us a change of scenery and on several evenings a welcome breeze. BBQ facilities are provided and we took the opportunity to visit the local fish market at the port. A great experience. Sitting under the stars with a glass of wine, some local produce sizzling over the coals and in the good company of friends and family, I cannot think of anything more sublime

Peniscola lies in between Valencia & Barcelona on the 'orange blossom coast', situated between the sea and the mountains of the Sierra D'Irta. The Citadel is world famous once being the residence of the anti Pope 'Papa Luna', it is now full of quality restarants & shops overlooking 5k of child friendly blue flag beach. It is probably most remembered for the setting of the film 'El Cid'. Within its walls is a museum & birdgarden. There are many beaches close by and local towns/resorts such as Alcossebre (Marina),Vinaros, Benicarlo, Oropesa are within easy reach. In the mountains there are many unspoilt hilltop villages with vines, orange groves and almond trees in profusion.Morella is a much visited town, some 80 km inland from Vinaros. The hinterland has some exceptional scenery.Tortosa is an attractive town set on banks of Ebro, 50km from Peñíscola. The Ebro delta boasts many places of interest. There is extensive all year round walking in the Sierra D'irta literally on the doorstep.

  • Children are welcome but there are numerous steps & terraces both inside and outside the villa and these are all ungated so we do not recommend the villa for children who have just started walking. The communal pool is available June to Sept (incl) and is professionally maintained , The pool is shared with 7 other villas and is lightly used. The villa enjoys extensive outdoor living space with extensive views (dining table(s), sun loungers) affording privacy and perfect for dining especially of an evening with the cool mountain breeze blowing down the valley a regular feature. There is a additional utility area with washing machine sink and hot & cold water ideal for cleaning BBQ equipment and washing sandy beachwear. There is gated parking for 2 cars plus additional space immediately outside the villa (boat etc). The villa is detached with open space to one side.
