For outdoor enthusiasts Champex offers all year round activities.

In Summer magnificent hikes in the surrounding mountains. Champex is situated on the Tour du Mont-Blanc setting for the challenging Ultra Trail race. For those wishing to relax the village a communal swimming pool and tennis court. Boats are also available to hire on the lake. Whilst a visit to Champex's Botanical Alpine Gardens and Underground Fort are a must.

The region is also know for its natural spas at Saillons le Bains and Lavey les Bains a great day out at any time of the year.

In the winter there is conveniently skiing, snow-shoeing and ice-skating on the doorstep within the village as well as the opportunity to take a walk with the regions famous St Bernard dogs. Whilst Verbier and the extensive Four Valleys ski area is closeby (20 mins drive to Le Chable cable car). Skiing within the region is both superb and extensive, suitable for all levels.

There is so much to see and to do and so much delicious Swiss cheese and Swiss chocolate to eat!

The apartment is in close proximity to a variety of restaurants in Champex, as well as shops.

This light and jolly apartment is exceptionally well equipped (from for example, DVD player to hairdryer, iron and ironing board). It has been recently furnished to a very high quality. Comfortable with a luxury touches the apartment provides a home from home feel. There is also a real open fire in the living room for that extra cozy feel. The kitchen is very well equipped however If you don't fancy eating in there are several restaurants within walking distance. A washing machine and dryer are available to use within the building. There is garage parking (the door operated by remote control) and additional external parking for visitors. Here there is a private ski rack for keeping skis, snowboards and boots. Skiing can be found on the doorstep within the village and also in nearby Verbier / Four Valleys. In the summer there is boating on the lake. The village communal tennis court and swimming pool are also within walking distance (subject to local opening hours).

A great apartment with a view

We had a family holiday at Sarah's place at the end of August and had a fabulous time. It's a really comfortable and well-equipped apartment and the views over the lake are fantastic when the weather is good. Unfortunately we had 3 days when Champex was literally in the cloud, so we couldn't see anything! It sounds like this is pretty unusual so I guess we were unlucky in that respect.

We found Champex to be a great location for exploring the Swiss Alps and the Swiss Riviera and had lots of great days out to places like Verbier, Montreux and Zermatt (bit of a longer drive but worth it).

I'd definitely recommend this apartment if you're looking for a relaxing base!

A Fantastic apartment in a wonderful location

The apartment exceeded our expectations. It was immaculately clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the view wow! The apartment had everything we required. There is lots to do in and around Champex, with a good choice of restaurants, some amazing walks and lots of fun to be had on the lake itself. Paddle boarding was a favourite with the children. Sarah was extremely helpful and very quick with her responses to our queries. We could not recommend this apartment highly enough. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

Splendid Summer Sojourn

I can only agree with previous reviews and add that this is a superb place to stay in the summer, too. Whether you want to walk, cycle or be just be idle, Champex can accommodate.

Warm days and cool nights means it's particularly comfortable and relaxing and, if anything, the photos sell the apartment short - it really is stunning with no fewer than three balconies to chase the sun into the night.

Sarah and Fanny - her Swiss agent - are a delight to deal with as well. Very efficient and welcoming. I very much hope to return...

The best experience in Champex

This place is terrific. Exactly what you need for a week skiing. The apartment is perfectly located in the village with outstanding views from the floor to ceiling doors on to the balconies looking over the beautiful Champex Lac. We were particularly impressed with the owner's attention to detail in ensuring you have all the home comforts to make your stay really easy especially travelling with children. Very spacious open kitchen and lounge area with gorgeous log-burning fire. Cannot say enough positive things about this apartment. Really lovely. Oh and spotlessly clean!

Excellent apartment in stunning location

Champex Lac is a great location. I would describe it a little jewel in the Alps. The village has lots of local walks and the restaurants are fantastic. The Swiss do hospitality like no others. The 2 bedroom apartment we chose was excellent for our late summer holiday with views over the lake from most windows and the balconies. It was clean, well furnished and seemed to be quite new. Every need was catered for. We plan to go again in the winter. Local people told us that Snowshoe trekking is a growing activity in Champex and we wish to try it. Thanks for a memorable holiday.

A superb holiday to remember

Our family recently stayed in this superb apartment for our annual skiing holiday. The ski slopes are uncrowded and close by, we much preferred it to the larger busy resorts we usually visit. Champex is a gorgeous alpine village, we had several nice meals out. The apartment itself is exceptionally clean, well furnished, comfortable with some adorable homely touches. There is a great selection of DVD's and games which kept the kids entertained. The views from the apartment are stunning, we very much enjoyed watching the world go by from the balcony. We have been so impressed. Our whole experience has was 5 star. I would totally recommend staying here to anyone. I can't wait until August as we plan to return and see the lake in the Summer, and walk in the mountains - Thank you and see you again soon!

About Sarah

As soon as I arrived in Champex Lac I fell in love with this magical place. It was Spring and the lake was sparkling in the sunshine. I have travelled to many corners of the world and Champex Lac (often referred to as Switzerland's hidden gem) is somewhere very special. It is also a place for every season. excellent skiing and a wonderful summer location too.

Why Sarah chose Orsières

The views from the apartment are hard to beat. To wake up here is an absolute treat. When the sun is shining there is no better place to be then sitting on the balcony watching the water lap on the lake whilst in winter when everywhere is white the log fire has a warming glow.

What makes this apartment unique

Whatever style of holiday you seek whether it is to get away from it all or thrill seeking sports it is all on the door step. To see Champex change through the seasons is wonderful. Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter I always relish my time in Champex.

Champex is a picturesque village nestled in the Swiss Alps at a height of 1500 mts part of the Mont Blanc Massif. In the French speaking Canton of Valais, Champex is ideally located for easy access to both the French and Italian Alps. It is only a 20 minute drive to the historic town of Martigny that contains the ruins of a roman amphitheatre, the world famous Pierre Gianadda Art Foundation, as well as street cafes and restaurants. If you are planning to come to use Champex as a place to relax and walk in the local mountains trails then using public transport is fine. But if you are planning to explore a wider area or use Champex as a base to ski in Verbier or Chamonix then although it is possible to use public transport a car is highly recommended. Champex is a truly great base to explore this wonderful region.

Location: Nearest Airport Geneva 152km. Aosta (I) 68 km Chamonix (F) 56 km. Train and bus services to Champex go via Orsière.

Other Activities: Simply relax or there is so much explore in and around Valais, the Rhone Valley Vineyards, Natural Mineral Spas, Roman Sites, Museums etc.
