Trullo/Pool In Own Olive Grove
3 bedroom/ 2 bathroom and 2 bedroom 1 bathroom traditional self-catering Trulli in Puglia, Italy. Two trulli next to each other in a rural setting, glorious views and countryside. Swimming pool shared between the 2 properties. From March 1st the pool is solar heated,. Family friendly, 20 minutes to beach and sea. Set amongat its own olive trees and overlooking vineyards. No other property within a mile. Complete privacy. Traditional rustic renovation. Each trullo completed to highest standard. Brand new bathrooms and kitchens. Microwave included with the oven. Well equipped kitchen. Locally made wrought iron beds. Crisp linen, fluffy towels provided. Outdoor terraces and dining, traditional Barb-b-qs. Renovated with new bathrooms/showers. Double and twin bedded rooms, with a utility room between the properties offering washing machine, drier, iron, etc. Perfect summer rental hideaway/ The two properties are in more than a hectare of land that renters can explore and use - great for the children to run around in!
The trullo was purchased and renovated as our family holiday home and Italian dream. Therefore everything is done to a much higher standard than typical holiday accommodation. For example the pool is full size. Expensive oak was used rather than cheaper pine because oak was the traditional material. As much opf the original stone as possible was used. The kitchen has far more equipment than standard self catering.
We wanted the perfect combination of beautiful countryside, but no more than 5 minutes' drive from the facilities of a good local village with restaurants and shops. We searched more than 100 properties before finding the perfect spot with great views as well!
We spent a long time finding a genuinely private site - many trulli are very close to each other as they were originally agricultural storage. Yet we wanted facilities of Alberobello nearby. Many trulli are cheaply converted. We spent extra to have authentic oak rather than cheap pine, have fittings made to fit original dimensions rather than change things to fit manufactured goods. We have spent time and money on every detail to make this our bit of heaven. Traditional rustic Puglia, yet with all modern conveniences.
With air conditioning in every bedroom for the summer, underfloor central heating for cooler Spring and Autumn nights.
The trullo is surrounded by olive trees. We actually produce our own olive oil and even provide some of the oil produced from the grove around the trullo as a welcome gift for our guests!

fun, well equipped Trulli in a great area

About Mark Fox
I have an obsession about personal service, not just machines with endless tape recordings an options and waiting 20 minutes to be answered! I always make sure that I or my agents are available at the end of my mobile if needed. My motto is "personal holidays with personal service".
Almost 1000 guests a year now stay at my holiday homes. The average rating of over 250 online reviews is 4.9! I try to deliver consistency and quality.
We are all from London. I am a retired banker and my wife is a doctor. We started buying holiday homes because we were consistently disappointed with the quality of other places when we started renting self-catering places as a young family. Hotels didn't offer proper flexibility for small kids, and self-catering was either very basic or ridiculously expensive jetset places.
Our children are now 18, 17 and 14, but the business has grown as we found that others like our choice of locations and standards. Some of our guests have stayed in all five of our holiday homes, sometimes 3 or 4 times in the same one.

Why Mark Fox chose Taranto
This is one of five places we have listed, all of them on Homeaway. Each one has been described repeatedly as "a destination in it own right". The views and sense of peace in a quiet farming valley make it very special. Just watching the sun set with a glass of local wine is a wonderful experience. The sense of space means that it is also perfect for kids to be as noisy and adventurous as they like.
There are estimated to be only around 5000 trulli in total, and by far the biggest concentration of them is in another valley called the Itria Valley. What the guidebooks don't tell you is that there is a busy road running through the bottom of it. We wanted peace and quiet.
What makes this farmhouse unique
Most trulli are either Alberobello with no land, or in countryside that is a long way from shops and restaurants. This one offers the best of both - it took a long time to find that combination!
Trulli country is mostly a flat plain, albeit a couple of hundred metres above sea level. It is very unusual to find one set on a hill with a panoramic view across the olive groves and farms.

fun, well equipped Trulli in a great area
The 2 Trulli are next to each other and so would suit families holidaying together or extended families. They are equipped to a high standard and regularly maintained. We loved the area and hired bikes from Southern vison who were most helpful. Mark was available for conversation before we left and to re assure us the properties existed! We would go again
Great villa in a wonderful part of Italy
We stayed at Olvio, the smaller of the two adjoining villas.
We were met by Mark's local representative who was really helpful and accommodating given we met late at night and she was on hand for the week to ask questions.
The villa itself was very well equipped and spacious for a family of 4. The location is very peaceful in very beautiful surrounding countryside. A very short drive to Aeroberollo meant that you are not far from civilisation and some great restaurants are virtually on your doorstep (Fidelio for example).
The pool was great; warm and well maintained and the kids were never out of it.
I would definitely return to both this villa and Puglia.
Perfect base for exploring Puglia,
Ten days of secluded bliss. If you want karaoke, red bull and chips, sorry, you're in the wrong place. If you fancy a slice of southern Italy at it's best, try this. Every thing at the Trullo worked as it should. Beds comfy. Air con effective. Fridge cold. Cooker hot. Pool lovely. What else do you want on holiday. Even the wifi works!
I'd happily go back again.
Fabulous - perfect setting
We stayed in the 2 bedroom trullo 'Olivo' for a week with our 2 children and had a wonderful time. It's in a gorgeous setting, very quiet and with a wonderful view over the fields. It's not far from Alberobello and some other great sightseeing places/restaurants including the coast. However, the highlight was probably just sitting by the pool relaxing or having a meal on the terrace (which gets the sunshine at breakfast and the shade at lunch and dinner - perfect!) The trullo itself is great - the beds are comfortable and it is all finished to a high standard - I would have no hesitation recommending it (or coming back here again!)
A delightful stay
Excellent location within walking distance (30-40 minutes) of Alberobello, and also of a good restaurant (take a torch for the return trip). There are also many interesting and attractive towns and villages to visit.
Trullo Olivo is well furnished and maintained, and the grounds are similarly well cared for; the pool was excellent too, and the view from our terrace was charming. Admin arrangements including handover on arrival and departure were faultless.
A very enjoyable and relaxing 6 days.
Great accommodation refurbed to a high standard
An idyllic holiday retreat located within the charming region of Puglia. Both trulli (Alto & Olivo) have been refurbed to a high standard and have all the 'ingredients' you need for a great holiday. We have just booked to return for our third year and on each visit the owner has invested further in the property and made improvements to ensure the high standard is retained. I have looked at other trulli in the area, but for our family and the friends we holiday with (includes 4 children ranging in age from 5-19), nothing seems to compare.
It is exactly as you see on the photo's .. well, maybe a little better! :)

Activity and Interests
The unspoilt deep south of Italy, Puglia. 5km from Alberobello, the historic trulli centre - world famous Unesco heritage town. Valle d'Itrea, Ostuni, the White city, Castel Del Monte, Lecce, the most unspoilt Baroque town in Italy, just an hour away.Castellana caves all nearby. Mile after mile of beaches within 20 minutes drive. You can visit the spectacular deepest and most extensive underground caves in Italy at Castellana Grotte just 15 minutes' drive away. For the kids there is the wonderful Fasano Wildlife Park as well as water parks. The Adriatic coast with the famous Guaceto Nature Reserve dunes 20 minutes away. Untouched medieval hill towns such as Locorotondo and Cisternino with 15 minutes - few tourists have yet discovered these. Everywhere ancient olive groves and stunning Pugliase countryside. This is at traditional Italian country retreat created by restoring a 150yr old olive oil storage trullo.
For the children, as well as beaches and the pool there is the Fasano Safari Park, with a chance to get really close to the animals, as well as water parks.
For gourmet 'foodies' there is a huge array of restaurants nearby with very reasonable prices - far cheaper than the north of Italy, and very different regional cuisine,
There are many artists in the area, even a very good artist materials shop in Alberobello, for a reason. There are beautiful views in every direction that have inspired artists for generations.
there is also a lot of local musical culture, a mix of festivals of international renown, to highly local events with rustic southern Italian music.

- Many trulli are close to others because of their origin as storage houses. Ours are genuinely set in their own countryside, with peace for miles around. It took us a long time to find this, yet only a few minutes' drive from Alberobello. We also wanted a hill for spectacular views. Many trulli are cheaply converted, using pine instead of the more traditional oak. Features like doors and windows are often altered to fit manufactured items insead of handmade. We have spare no expense to make everything as traditional as possible whilst ensuring modern convenience and the highest standards. Italian digital TV, but with two Engilsh channels (one is news).
