Located on the first floor of a historical building (formerly a convent), in the Santa Croce section of Florence, near Duomo, Signoria, Ponte Vecchio and the Verdi Theater. This fabulous property offers elegant living and dining with all the modern amenities. The social area includes a large Dining Room and a Living Room/Bar with high cassettone ceilings and terracotta floors. Both the Master Bedroom (King-size bed) and Bedroom 2 (Queen-size bed) include a private full bathroom. In addition, a queen-size sofa bed in the Living room allows for two (2) more people to be lodged, if needed. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a conventional and a microwave oven, as well as a dishwasher. There is a washer and dryer (please ask for use instructions as everything is in Italian) and air conditioning. Ideally located in the Centro Historico of Florence, guests need only a 2-minute walk to reach the closest grocery store, or they can walk 8 more minutes and reach one of the greatest markets in the city: Sant’Ambrogio. ATM, pharmacy, coffee shops and more are all within a 5-minute walk. The city's greatest attraction, the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, is a five-minute walk, but you see the beautiful Duomo around the corner from the apartment. The landmark Santa Croce church houses famous Florentine art and the tombs of remarkable Florentines like Dante and Michelangelo; the church is also the focal point of one of the most genuine neighborhoods left in the old center. While the area's western edge abuts the medieval district around Piazza della Signoria -- Via de' Bentaccordi/Via Torta actually traces the outline of the old Roman amphitheater -- much of the district was rebuilt after World War II in long blocks of creamy yellow plaster buildings with residential shops and homes. Few tourists roam off Piazza Santa Croce, so if you want to feel like a city resident, stay here. This neighborhood also boasts some of the best restaurants in the city.
