About the property

Self catering rental with stunning mountain views.

The brand new penthouse benefits with high wooden ceilings, 3 beds and 2 bathrooms. It can sleep up to eight using the sofa bed in the large lounge dinning room. The spacious accommodation has a comprehensive kitchen with large dinning table that easily sit 8 people. There is a 37' flat screen TV which shows a number of English channels including BBC and ITV, there is also internet access. The balcony provides a stunning view across to the 10,000 feet Dents Du Midi mountain range. The modern apartment has a private ski locker and it’s perfectly located for access to the slopes ski school, ski hire and ski slopes. There is even a restaurant just next door. Champoussin is a pretty ski village at 1600 metres with an excellent snow records.

Ski Hire: The hire shop is just below the apartment block. There is a second 5 mins walk up the road at the Royal Alpage Hotel.

Ski Pass: Purchased at the 1st ski lift as you drive into Champoussin, 5 mins walk from the apartment.

They can also be purchased on line. There is a choice of just the swiss area of champoussin, Champery, les Crosets, Morgins and Torgon…giving you 100kms of pistes and 35 lifts…or the full Portes Du Soleil pass taking in 14 French and Swiss villages with 284 ski runs and 204 lifts.

Ski Area: The childrens nursery slope starts at the front of the apartment. You can watch your children from the balcony. The ski school shop is just at the front of the block.

RESTAURANTS LE VIRAGE Literally next door to the les Esserts block. You can stagger home in 30 seconds! THE ROYAL ALPAGE HOTEL has a restaurant open to the public downstairs…. There is also a bar with pool table, next door café and bar, and funky cabin bar at the front you can use the indoor pool and sauna between 3 and 7pm for only 12 francs Le POUSIN is 2 mins walk from the Royal Alpage that branches left. It also has an upstairs Bar open to the small hours and is popular with the young ski workers CHEZ GABI is the flagship restaurant of the resort, located at the top of the village it commands stunning. Views in daytime and provides very traditional atmosphere and cuisine. it’s a healthy 20 minute walk to the top if the village but if you book in advance they’ll pick you up from the apartment in the snowmobile and drop you back too all free!!

This beautiful chalet was perfect for our first ever family ski trip. 3 bedrooms meant we could even take granny with us!

The children (aged 4 & 7) were thrilled by the space in the apartment, the balconies on every room, and of course the big TV - a comfy sofa with enough seats for everyone meant we could snuggle up together for a movie in the evening! The wi-fi meant the adults could keep connected too!

The 2 parking spaces in the garage and the lift add to the luxury feel and make it easy getting in and out whatever the weather.

The ski slopes are so convenient - with a ski and boot locker on the ground floor - and a short walk across the road to the nursery slopes. Perfect for beginners and young children who want to go back inside for breaks/snacks/lunch/toilets etc... multiple times per day!! Beyond that the Sepaya drag lift links up to the rest of the ski domain - although it is such a lovely run, and so quiet, I can see that this could be our playground with the kids for the next few holidays!

The local swiss ski school was brilliant - and under their careful guidance and tuition - I am pleased to report that the kids enjoyed their first ski holiday, learned a lot, and want to go back!! Who could ask for more?

Chez Gaby was a real treat for an evening meal out. Especially the pick-up and drop-off in the GabyMobile. Also a good option for a cheaper lunch stop during the day - love the 'live' rosti chef!

The thermal spa at Val D'Illiez was a great afternoon out - when the kids needed a break from skiing. It is really magical too in the evening when it get darker - sitting outside in the warm water and cooler air surrounded by steam looking up at the mountains and stars.

Does what it says on the 'chocolate box'-tin

This is a spacious apartment on the upper floor of a medium-sized chalet-style apartment building. Access is also possible by an elevator. The pictures do the apartment justice.

Contact with the owner went very smooth. He reacted to our e-mails within hours. He sent us the key well before our holiday.

The apartment suited us fine and having the ease of ski-in ski-out was a true benefit for our group. There were large lockers for skiboots and skis.

The bedrooms weren't very large but had enough room in the closets for our stuff. We thought the beds were very comfortable.

The kitchen was well equipped. The kitchen was also equipped with a microwave-oven and an extra, large, freezer. View from the balcony was indeed breathtaking.

Wifi connection was very good!

The parking garage was very much appreciated especially with all the snow that fell during our stay.

We thought the bathroom with the tub would benefit from a suspension for the shower head and a shower curtain so that it’s possible to take a shower there as well.

We had to provide for the end-cleaning ourselves, which puts quite some stress upon the day of departure and also off course there is always the risk that the guests before you don't have the same standards as you have. We'd very much prefer the end-cleaning to be taken care of professionally (and off course we'd pay extra for that).

A useful suggestion for future guests is that the little store (a 5 minutes walk up the road, next to the Alpadze Lou Kra hotel) is opened 7/7 from 8:00 - 20:00 and has great fresh bread. They do not sell a lot of other stuff so it's still advised to stock up well before arriving.

We thought the personnel in neighbouring restaurant “Le Virage” were quite grumpy when we went to drink some coffee there (they plainly refused to make cappucino even when they had all the equipment to make it) so we didn’t bother eating there.

We liked restaurant “Le Poussin” a lot and it’s not much of a walk there (just walk up the road and after you've passed the Alpadze Lou Kra hotel on your right hand, you see a parking lot at your left hand, cross that parking lot and at the end is "Le Poussin": max 10 mins).

The skiing area itself is off course very well-known. Off course Champoussin isn't as centrally located as Avoriaz or Les Crosets but the benefit is that there's never a big crowd.

All in all this apartment lived up to our expectations and offers good value for money. We’d consider coming back!

wonderful apartment in a stunning location

We have stayed in this amazing Penthouse twice this year, Skiing in late March and for a walking holiday during Half term in October 2014.

Champoussin in Winter is a stunning ski location the scenery is breathtaking with a wonderful view of the Dent du Midi across the valley. We have never stayed in an Apartment so close to the slopes, you can even watch the children on the Nursery slope from the Balcony. The convenience of skiing in and out of the apartment has become a must for any future holidays.

Champussin is just as stunning in Autumn with the colours changing. There are literally hundreds of hiking trails, especially around the Dents Du Midi. Mountain Biking is easy straight out of the front door with special mountain bike routes nearby.

We loved the high ceilings and the spacious huge open plan kitchen living room. The kids enjoyed the big T.V . All 3 bedrooms are generous in size and 2 bathrooms add to the luxury. We will be booking next year as the Portes Du Soleil ski area is so large, we only managed to cover the Swiss side in March.

Ideale Lage - toll ausgestattet

Wir habe uns in der Wohnung sehr wohl gefühlt. Sie bietet ausreichend Platz für 8 Personen. Die Ausstattung ist hochwertig. Durch 2 Tiefgaragenstellplätze und der Fahrstuhlverbindung direkt zur Wohnung ist das Ein- und Ausladen einfach und bequem. Die Aussicht aus dem Wohnzimmerfenster ist atemberaubend. Die Wohnungsausstattung hat uns sehr gut gefallen und die Skipisten sind nur wenige Schritte entfernt. Alle Einrichtung wie Skiverleih, Restaurants und ein kleiner Laden sind zu Fuß zu erreichen. Der Kontakt zum Vermieter war sehr angenehm, unproblematisch und informativ. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Champoussin is a traditional quiet Swiss village perched high on the mountain side at 1600m. It comprises mainly of 'chocolate box' Swiss Chalets, with 4 Restaurants including the superb 'Chez Gabi' at the top of the village. Another restaurant is next door to 'Les Esserts' and the General Stores. Ski Hire and Tourist Information is also only a 5 minute walk. The Ski School meets 1 minute walk from 'Les Esserts' and the nearest piste is just as close. There are 3 separate lifts from Champoussin which access the 'Portes Du Soleil'. You buy your Ski Pass, and will find the Ski Hire Shop, just a 5 minute walk from the Residence 'Les Esserts'. You can also buy your Ski Pass online or by SMS. The more local Ski Pass covers the areas of Champery, Les Crosets, Champoussin and Morgins. This gives you 100km of slopes with 35 lifts. Of course the more experienced skier will want the 'Portes Du Soleil' pass which includes 14 ski villages.
