About this property

Turkey's Nest - Rose Gum Cottage

Nestled in 15 acres of tranquil rainforest just 45km north-west of Brisbane, Turkey's Nest Rainforest Cottages is a perfect retreat from the bustle of city life, close to the city, yet a world away!

You will feel the cares of everyday life slip away as you settle into your private, cosy cottage nestled on the edge of the rainforest.

Newly built in 2011, Rose Gum Cottage has been lovingly created with hand-made details and warm wood finishes, but with all the modern necessities you require. Totally private, it nestles into the bush at the edge of the rainforest.

The view from every room is perfectly tranquil and the verandah could not be more relaxing, a place to enjoy the rainforest and the visiting native birds (some of which will eat from your hand). Cook up a feast in the well-equipped kitchen, which includes an espresso coffee machine. A comfy lounge is the place to sit by the fire, listen to music, play a game of Scrabble or Trivial Pursuit, drink wine, read a good book and chat., before retiring to a bed warmed by an electric blanket.

The cosy attic bedroom, spacious bathroom with claw foot bath looking out to the forest, and wood combustion fireplace make this an ideal couple's retreat.

We provide all the comforts for a romantic stay, including electric blankets for those chilly winter nights, port and chocolates, fresh flowers, music, and a selection of books and games, and an espresso coffee machine.

Note that the additional day bed in the bedroom is suitable for a small child (to approximately 9 years). We can also provide a folding mattress for an additional adult. Additional charges apply.

Turkey's Nest is a wildlife refuge, registered under the Land for Wildlife scheme, and as such we cannot accept pets.

While Brisbane swelters in summer heat, Mount Glorious (620m above sea level and surrounded by D'Aguilar National Park) is pleasantly cool (be sure to bring a jumper, as temperatures average 6 degrees less than Brisbane at all times). On chilly winter nights, as mists waft through the forest, relax by a cosy fireplace, where you'll find a CD player and range of CDs, ipod docking station, a selection of books and games, complimentary port and home-made chocolates.

A short stroll to the tranquil village of Mt. Glorious offers bush walking in the rainforest of D'Aguilar National Park, three cafes, a quality restaurant with stunning views over the valley below, and a unique sculpture garden.

Turkey's Nest is a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the tranquility in the company of someone special.
To extend the experience, we may be able to arrange early check-in or late check-out (subject to other bookings). Please enquire when you book.

Massages are available with local operators by prior arrangement. How much more relaxing can it get?

Birthday Getaway
The property was just as advertised, quiet and peaceful. The birds visiting daily was amazing to see. It could have been slightly better stocked. Overall though, an amazing little getaway place away from the hustle and bustle.

Why they chose this property

We bought the property in 2003 when it had only one cottage. We loved the warm welcoming atmosphere and the fabulous setting, surrounded by nature. In 2009 we commenced building our own house and Rose Gum Cottage, using timber from the property. We have spent many weeks living in our own accommodation, constantly checking the fine details to ensure every need is catered for.
