Description

La Patisserie

La Patisserie - perfect for two

The front door opens into the salon with its rustic style coin-cuisine. Stone walls, rustic beams & timber ceiling lend a special ambience to this cottage. Simple pine furniture comfortable sofa along with modern facilities combine to provide the best in holiday accommodation.

The coin-cuisine kitchen is well equipped with a four ring electric hob, combined rotisserie grill/oven and at the bottom a six place dishwasher.

A stone doorway leads to the bedroom, with its pine furniture and pine sliding door through into a modern tiled shower room. Here we have installed a 1.2 metre shower fitted with a thermostatic tap and quality sliding screen. For the comfort of our guests we have also installed a heated towel rail, discreet extractor fan and luxury vanitory unit, with its illuminated large mirror.

Outside we have created a romantic space for two to share a drink or enjoy an intimate barbecue surrounded by the old stone walls and tower of the Mas.

About the property

Le Mas de la Source

Our stone cottages are perfect for couples wanting a quiet holiday with a luxury pool and comfortable facilities.

Conveniently situated for Avignon, Nimes, Arles, and Uzes. With the Cevennes and its hills and valleys close by, we are perfectly situated for walkers and cyclists, & there is horse riding in the vicinity.

There are colourful markets in Barjac, Les Vans & St Ambroix all within easy reach. Uzes market is particularly colourful and even has its own web site.

The Ardeche Gorges are 20 minutes drive away and great for canoeing, kayaking or just sightseeing.

A beautiful part of France!

Though our cottages are part of one ancient stone building, they are at different levels and aspects and are all different, having the ambience of an ancient stone hamlet.

There is a lovely courtyard separating our house from the accommodation and even a small spring running by the buildings.

Share our Mediterranean garden and our luxury salt system 13.7 metre pool with its poolside bar.

Pool Area.: The luxury pool is set in a sunny Mediterranean garden of oleander, olive trees and native herbs & flowers. Dimensions are 13.7 metres (about 45 feet) by 5.5 metres and it has Roman Steps descending into the shallow end. There is a gentle gradient from 1.2 metres at the shallow end to a deeper area of about 1.5 metres. The pool has a salt water system which is both kind to the skin and repulsive to wasps & other unwelcome guests. We have installed a heat-pump system which provides warm water in an efficient eco-friendly way.

Our sun loungers are textyline, a special fabric designed for pool use. Our chairs have a similar fabric, especially for your comfort between dips.

Our pool-side bar carries welcome cold beers, chilled rosé from the village cave co-operative, & soft drinks.

Mediterranean Garden.: Our garden is planted with trees, shrubs and flowers native to the environment and climate of Southern France. You will enjoy the scent of lavender, rosemary and other herbs around the garden and the colourful Laurier Rose or Oleander planted near the pool. Jasmine and honeysuckle are everywhere!

In the garden we have staged a picnic area with rustic table beneath the cherry trees. For relaxing among the olive trees moments there is a 'Ballancelle'. For those bursts of activity we have created a boulodrome and even installed lighting if you fancy a lazy evening game.

Our 'espace Wi-Fi' by the fish pond is a comfortable place for you to connect to the internet.

Places to Visit in The Area: The Ardeche Gorges are a 20 minute drive away. The road that winds along the top of the Gorge from the famous Vallon Pont D'Arc has many stopping places from which to enjoy the spectacular views. At Vallon there are many hire centres where canoes and two seater kayaks can be paddled along the river through the gorges. A truly magnificent experience.

Uzes is a medieval town with many attractions and a maze of alleys and narrow streets to explore. The famous tree lined Place Aux Herbes is host to a colourful and fascinating Provencal market.

Avignon and the Palais des Papes is an easy drive away as are the ancient Nimes & Arles with their Roman remains.

Visit the Pont du Gard to see the remains of the Roman aquaduct, which is a World Heritage Site, or experience one of the spectacles held there in June.

Nearby, the Cevennes is a place of wild beauty, with ancient chapels in stone villages tucked in among the forested hills and valleys. This region is a hikers paradise.

About Phil North

Following a teenage hitch-hiking trip round France some (OK, many!) years ago, I vowed I would return to the Ardèche!

I finally made it...hope you will love it too!

Phil North purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Phil North chose Saint-Sauveur-de-Cruzières

Well, of course the location is perfect for a visit to the region, and we also enjoy the benefits of the village...the friendly village baker is across the road. There are trails to hike and run from the gate. And we were seduced by the ancient stone buildings, also great views...did I mention the village wine...?

What makes this cottage unique

Our home is a little stone hamlet with a fabulous garden...we love it...and so do our guests, many return every year!

Fabulous property, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

I am reticent to say how good this place is as it means more people will be competing to book a stay there. This is a beautiful place to stay in every respect. Very friendly and helpful owners, lovely little accommodation with everything you are ever likely to need, a wonderful garden and the best pool I have used at any of the places we have stayed before. The accommodation is small but that is in no way a problem as it has so much provided - easy to use kitchen, comofortable little bedroom, air-conditioning, excellent shower and a delightful little terrace right outside the door. Ample car parking available in the garden. The village is very small and has few amenities but does have a fantastic bakery right opposite. Other shops, supermarket etc are a few mins drive away in Barjac or further afield to VAllon or Ruoms or St Ambroix. A truly relaxing, peaceful place to stay surrounded by some of the most wonderful countryside in France.

A charming place with a beautiful pool

A very well kept and presented holiday cottage. We thought everything was up to a very high standard and the pool was one of the best we have seen on our travels.

Un excellent WE dans ce Mas d'Ardèche

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

A gem of tranquillity in surrounded b y beauty

  • 5 of 5

The gites were immaculate, furnished with imagination, and with every piece of equipment necessary for a stress free holiday. The pool was quite magnificent and the gardens a gem of tranquillity. The surrounding countryside and small towns make it such an enjoyable place to holiday, which is why this was my seventh visit. Going back again in October.

Phil and Tina are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We are looking forward to "Aperos" down at the pool again"

Real quiet rest

  • 5 of 5

A great host, very caring owners. A very warm family atmosphere, the sense of sharing and service. Good advice about the area, small producers, places and opportunities for visits.

The services are excellent and the quality of the cottage is exeptional. A green oasis for calm, to get away from stress, this cottage is for you. Notice of a Parisian scientist eager to rest and relax (a rare moment in life).

I will keep a memory deep in my heart for these three weeks allowed me resources myself and get back energy. Moreover I enjoyed practicing my English with Phil & Tina. They are real nice people very warm and open. Long life to them.

unforgettable holiday

Enjoy the warmth and sunshine of Southern France, relax by our large pool and canoe or kayak the famous Gorges de l'Ardeche. Stay in one of our comfortable, character gites and you are well placed to enjoy a very special holiday. The Gorges de l'Ardeche are an easy 30 minute drive, Avignon and the Palais des Papes is nearby. The area enjoys many other interesting attractions and colourful markets.

Our village, Saint-Sauveur-de-Cruzieres has many old stone buildings and a small river flowing through its heart. Across the road from our Mas and gites is the boulangerie and we are a few steps from two bar - restaurants. We overlook the countryside with its vineyards and olive groves and dramatic hills in the near distance. Our climate is Mediterranean and we enjoy plenty of sunshine.

Our stone buildings resemble an old hamlet and are centred round its courtyards and a small spring that flows through the property, our colourful garden has lavender, olives, thyme, rosemary and the spectacular Oleander.

It would take many visits to see all the local attractions. There are grottos and caves to explore, plenty of castles and medieval villages and towns with their colourful markets to choose from.

The area is very popular with walkers & cyclists.

The Cevennes are a short drive away. Here, serious hikers can face challenging trails through the rugged and dramatic scenery.

The rivers Ardeche, Ceze, and Chassezac all have gorges to visit, swim or canoe through.

Other Activities: Canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, sightseeing, visiting markets & just relaxing!
