Comfortable salon with an intimate dining area, comfy sofa & chair and restful bedroom - this cottage is perfect for two people.
We enter La Boulangerie through an old stone doorway from the top of the courtyard, into an intimate dining area simply furnished with a pine dining table & chairs. Up a few steps takes us into the salon where we find a comfortable sofa and chair.
The coin cuisine comprises rustic style fitted cupboards, cooker hood, fridge with freezer section and Rosieres cooker with 4 ring electric hob, combination grill & rotisserie oven and in the lower section, a six place dish washer. We have provided all the pots & pans to make meal preparation a breeze. Even a cast iron casserole for that Daube Provencale!
The bedroom enjoys the benefits of a contemporary en-suite shower room with traditional tiling, thermostatic shower and gleaming vanitory unit.
You can enjoy your own intimate table, chairs, parasol & quality bbq in the courtyard.
Our stone cottages are perfect for couples wanting a quiet holiday with a luxury pool and comfortable facilities.
Conveniently situated for Avignon, Nimes, Arles, and Uzes. With the Cevennes and its hills and valleys close by, we are perfectly situated for walkers and cyclists, & there is horse riding in the vicinity.
There are colourful markets in Barjac, Les Vans & St Ambroix all within easy reach. Uzes market is particularly colourful and even has its own web site.
The Ardeche Gorges are 20 minutes drive away and great for canoeing, kayaking or just sightseeing.
A beautiful part of France!
Though our cottages are part of one ancient stone building, they are at different levels and aspects and are all different, having the ambience of an ancient stone hamlet.
There is a lovely courtyard separating our house from the accommodation and even a small spring running by the buildings.
Share our Mediterranean garden and our luxury salt system 13.7 metre pool with its poolside bar.
Pool Area.: The luxury pool is set in a sunny Mediterranean garden of oleander, olive trees and native herbs & flowers. Dimensions are 13.7 metres (about 45 feet) by 5.5 metres and it has Roman Steps descending into the shallow end. There is a gentle gradient from 1.2 metres at the shallow end to a deeper area of about 1.5 metres. The pool has a salt water system which is both kind to the skin and repulsive to wasps & other unwelcome guests. We have installed a heat-pump system which provides warm water in an efficient eco-friendly way.
Our sun loungers are textyline, a special fabric designed for pool use. Our chairs have a similar fabric, especially for your comfort between dips.
Our pool-side bar carries welcome cold beers, chilled rosé from the village cave co-operative, & soft drinks.
Mediterranean Garden.: Our garden is planted with trees, shrubs and flowers native to the environment and climate of Southern France. You will enjoy the scent of lavender, rosemary and other herbs around the garden and the colourful Laurier Rose or Oleander planted near the pool. Jasmine and honeysuckle are everywhere!
In the garden we have staged a picnic area with rustic table beneath the cherry trees. For relaxing among the olive trees moments there is a 'Ballancelle'. For those bursts of activity we have created a boulodrome and even installed lighting if you fancy a lazy evening game.
Our 'espace Wi-Fi' by the fish pond is a comfortable place for you to connect to the internet.
Places to Visit in The Area: The Ardeche Gorges are a 20 minute drive away. The road that winds along the top of the Gorge from the famous Vallon Pont D'Arc has many stopping places from which to enjoy the spectacular views. At Vallon there are many hire centres where canoes and two seater kayaks can be paddled along the river through the gorges. A truly magnificent experience.
Uzes is a medieval town with many attractions and a maze of alleys and narrow streets to explore. The famous tree lined Place Aux Herbes is host to a colourful and fascinating Provencal market.
Avignon and the Palais des Papes is an easy drive away as are the ancient Nimes & Arles with their Roman remains.
Visit the Pont du Gard to see the remains of the Roman aquaduct, which is a World Heritage Site, or experience one of the spectacles held there in June.
Nearby, the Cevennes is a place of wild beauty, with ancient chapels in stone villages tucked in among the forested hills and valleys. This region is a hikers paradise.
Following a teenage hitch-hiking trip round France some (OK, many!) years ago, I vowed I would return to the Ardèche!
I finally made it...hope you will love it too!
Phil North purchased this cottage in 2007
Well, of course the location is perfect for a visit to the region, and we also enjoy the benefits of the village...the friendly village baker is across the road. There are trails to hike and run from the gate. And we were seduced by the ancient stone buildings, also great views...did I mention the village wine...?
Our home is a little stone hamlet with a fabulous garden...we love it...and so do our guests, many return every year!

We stayed here again this summer having enjoyed it so much last year. It is the perfect location to relax but there are many charming places to visit nearby. The beautifully maintained pool and gardens are one of the highlights of the location. I doubt it will be our last visit.
Amazing time in La mas de source, la Boulangerie was an excellent gite. Phil & Tina were great hosts - beers by the pool were a must do!
From the moment we arrived the property and location lived up to expectations. La Boulangerie is spotless, well laid out and equipped with everything you need for a good holiday with plenty of hot water, a good range of kitchen equipment and a good quality bbq on a quiet, secluded patio. It was lovely to arrive and find that dishwasher tablets, washing liquid and cleaning equipment were provided alongside a starter set of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and salt/pepper . The whole property is beautifully cared for and set in lovely gardens around a spotless pool, which is a great area to enjoy the sun, as well as a drink from the poolside honesty bar and a game of boules.
Tina and Phil are always on hand to offer local advice on places to visit, walk, cycle or enjoy a meal. In fact their recommendations were so successful, we didn't make any expensive mistakes during our stay!
Overall a great place to stay , comfortable , efficiently run and in an excellent location for activities and visits, although it is just tempting to sit and read by the pool all day.
A really good location for a very comfortable gite with an accurate listing description.
The owner provided a first class customer service from our initial late booking to making us very welcome at Le-Mas-de-la -Source on arrival. He was most helpful throughout our stay.in recommending local attractions and advice on local restaurants in nearby Barjac.
The property we rented (La Patisserie) was a real delight, very clean, and well maintained. The garden area and the situation of the superb pool is a particularly attractive aspect.
We would happily recommend this property to our close friends and would be delighted to return ourselves.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable and restful holiday at The Boulangerie. The gite was superbly equipped and all immaculately clean. The reception and help thereafter from Phil and Tina was excellent- genuinely wanted you to have the best possible time. They will always give you advice but do not push themselves on you. Swimming pool was very relaxing- great chance to mix with other visitors in the gites. We particularly enjoyed the 'bar gathering' most evenings. There is a bakery opposite the gite complex which we found convenient and sold delicious products. We shall definitely return again. Sue and martin.
This was my second stay at the Gites and it was more than perfect yet again. The gite was large and light , immaculately clean with starters of tea/coffee, sugar, washing up liquid etc (though it has a dishwasher, and had top quality fixtures and fittings including good knives and cookware, more than enough of everything, rotiserrie oven, grill, etc etc. sofas, TV, sky , when you want to relax. comfortable bed with gorgeous linen. Really is 5* quality. Must mention water for bathing. good showers with constant hot water all the time. heated towel rail and hotel quality towels plus pool towels all included in the price so just turn up and go. Very helpful Phil gave pointers to best shops and walks and everything. Lovely little bar by the crystal clear pool with quality loungers for all. A great place to sit at sunset with a beer from the pool bar fridge. Oh and the beers are at cost in the pool bar, it is done as a courtesy for the worn out from doing nothing. Lovely garden with nooks and crannies to sit and chat or draw or birdwatch. Partner spent a fair amount of time be-goggled and left with an impressive score including three toed eagle, whatever that is!. All in all if you want a quality gite with character and civilised self catering break then do try this. It is quiet, lovely, interesting, great walks and car touring, and a place to wind down completely, without being in mud hut or tent. Car rental is reasonable if prebooked, flights to Nimes rock bottom, and shopping at markets (there are plenty to sample) make for a decent dip into french life. Will be back again and again like the others who return again and again. Negatives, France seemed to be shut half the afternoon but thats a cultural difference and not their fault. Wasnt a problem, just wanted to see everything! Really liked restaurant called Buzz who did breast of duck with delicious salad. Local wine notable too..
