About this property

Trentham Lake Villas - Lake View

Nestled in soft, picturesque surrounding countryside and overlooking a serene lake in the heart of Trentham, Trentham Lake Villas allow you to relax and recalibrate within the wondrous joy of silence and solitude where the conflicts of the world seem beyond reach.

There are two separate and tastefully decorated villas - 'Lake View' is downstairs (see separate listing for the upstairs villa 'Tree Tops'). Both villas include a queen-size bed fitted with electric blanket, Minijumbuk underlay, premium quality doona, woollen blanket, quality linen and towels, bedside cabinets and lamps, wardrobe, ensuite bathroom with a capacious, nurturing free-standing bath, a kitchenette with sink, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge, (note: no cooktop or oven provided) adjacent dining and sitting room space with television, books and magazines and a private outdoor patio with stunning views of the lake. The villas are not set up to accommodate children or infants. Each villa is heated and cooled with minimum effort reverse cycle wall-mounted air conditioner.

Quality continental breakfast supplies with a selection of cereals (inc GF option), sourdough bread, selection of spreads, fruit cups and fresh fruit, juices, teas, coffee and homemade biscuits are included in the nightly tariff.

Once you've unwound you may be drawn down the peaceful, tree-lined country lane, through the park and over a quaint footbridge to what at first seems like a sleepy village. As you step into the main street you'll soon realise that the faded old shop fronts house some astonishing and diverse businesses. There are top class dining and coffee places, artisan produce, a farmers' market, galleries, boutique nurseries, antiques and unusual wares. Trentham is an old town with great historic character, but enough going on to satisfy the most discriminating visitor.

Trentham Village

Trentham lies at the heart of the Macedon Ranges, one of Victoria's most popular, vibrant and beautiful regional destinations and is only an hour's drive northwest from Melbourne airport. At 700 metres, it sits atop the Great Dividing Range, surrounded by the majestic trees of the Wombat State Forest. In winter it's often dusted by snow, while in summer it stays lush and green long after neighbouring regions dry out. It sits within the volcanic belt and the rich red soil combined with the highest rainfall in Victoria makes it a gardener's paradise.

Trentham isn't just about good food and boutique stores. It makes a great base for exploring neighbouring towns and attractions. Only short drives away are the hotspots of Daylesford, Kyneton and Woodend. Daylesford is home to the highest concentration of natural mineral springs in Australia and many visitors choose from an array of spa and wellbeing experiences to rejuvenate in these magical waters. Trentham is centrally located between the larger, historic regional centres of Ballarat and Bendigo. Smaller towns of Castlemaine, Maldon, Malmsbury and Glenlyon are well worth a visit.

Peace and Tranquility
The Villa was nestled in a beautiful garden, in it's full late Summer glory with Roses, flowering perennials and interesting foliage plants. Waddling ducks over a lush lawn with a view through to the lake completed the picture. The accomodation was spotless with so many thoughtful touches from the hosts Wendy and Chris that made our stay very comfortable. We would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely oasis
Great little spot on the lake. Easy to get to the Main Street, and so nice to have ducks roaming around the front lawn. Lovely amenities - had everything we needed! Thank you, Kate.

gorgeous
on arrival we found it confusing which entrance and which key safe to open as each was different, each door side by side and no simple sign to make it absolutely clear. the correct safe was very puzzling as to how to open the cover, as i didnt want to force anything. to confuse things, an electronic device beside it which operates the blinds remotely but having never seen this before wondered also if this was somehow related to the key safe. once the safe cover was open all quickly became commonsense and we were soon into our apartment. the owners had preheated the space and being 6 degrees outside was such a delight to get in. i seem to recall seeing 32 on the controller. cosy as. first impression was gorgeous. couldn't believe how well appointed the spaces were with more than fully stocked fridge and pantry drawer for our two day's needs. the grounds were beautiful, and the lake view a quiet and serene vista to greet the eye when stepping out. seems ducks and other feathered friends like the front lawn too as they were ever present. not much more to add to sleeping and showering as we spent most of the time out. I always say presentation is king and you well and truly made the grade. car parking is opposite the property.

Absolutely gorgeous
Loved the property but what made it even more special was the little surprises. A teapot and tea leaves, homemade melting moments and a small bowl of fruit. Breakfast provided was lovely. Being near the lake to go for a walk was great. Just a walk into town. Nice and warm and cosy.

Lovely!
This is such a pretty place, overlooking the lake, the cacophony of birds at dusk. The accommodation is very clean, details are everywhere, they clearly care about their guests. Will come back again and again whenever I'm heading to Trentham.

About the host

My wife and I relocated to Trentham from Adelaide in March 2014 (our tree change), purchasing our property in the 'dress circle' of Trentham, overlooking the Quarry Street Reserve and lake. We built on two self-contained villas, adjacent to but separate from our home, each with their own private entrance and patio. With a shared love of gardening, our property has been established with numerous deciduous trees, roses and cottage garden plants. It is such a healing environment!

Why they chose this property

Trentham benefits from a high rainfall and rich volcanic soil - two key ingredients to support a thriving garden.

What makes this property unique

Trentham is only one hour from Melbourne via the Calder Freeway and an hour from the other key centres of Ballarat and Bendigo.
The popular townships of Daylesford, Woodend and Kyneton are each only 20 minutes away, while Macedon, Maldon, Malmsbury, Glenlyon and Castlemaine are only slightly further afield.
