A very peaceful place for a weekend away
We stayed here for a couple of nights which was perfect - we got to enjoy the quiet neighborhood and the place quirky set up which was fun. The place provided a good base from which to explore the Booderee National Park before we moved to another place to be right next to the Jervis Bay beaches. It was very relaxing and peaceful.

Beautiful locations surrounding the area
Beautiful location, the house was just as it was listed. Fully 70s retro style. The record player was so much fun! loved how the tv was old school with a normal one hidden in there!

Retro Haven
Myself and my family enjoyed our stay at the property. We spent a lot of time inside due to COVID-19 and the deteriorating weather. I loved the radio/gramophone and collection of vinyls on offer.

About the host

Hi I'm Sue. My husband David are the owners of Retro and the Bay. I'm a primary school teacher - you'll see evidence of that in the 'schoolroom' section of the family room at the Retro. I'm currently working as a Children's and Youth librarian. Dave is a semi retired Naval Officer who loves sailing. We feel very fortunate to be living at beautiful Jervis Bay. The photo I've added was taken at the house at my retro themed 60th birthday party. There's a bag of dress-ups at the house if you want to really get in the spirit too!

Why they chose this property

When we found this property it was in a great location but definitely not in great shape. We saw the potential and purchased the house from the family who had built it. The renovation we undertook was huge - especially as we did all the work ourselves with some help from family. I can honestly say I've never seen a house with a worse layout. The only door that's in the same position is the front door! The kitchen is an original 50s kitchen - not from our house which only had a few cupboards and no stove. When you come to stay you can check out some reno pictures in the house manual if you're interested.

What makes this property unique

I couldn't be happier we decided to "embrace the fibro" and take the house back to it's retro roots. Many people really love this unique experience of authentic retro features whilst still providing a comfortable place to say while exploring all Jervis Bay has to offer.
