CHECK IN TIME: 2pm onwards
CHECK OUT TIME: 10am

OUR VISION
Our vision is simple, we are committed to providing our guests with eco-friendly accomodation and to provide you with a beautiful space which is fully equiped for you to enjoy your holiday with your loved ones.

OUR HUT SPACE:
Our cleverly restored eco-hut is well-insulated and spacious, sleeping up to nine people in a comfortable design that minimises your carbon footprint. It has been crafted from recycled timber and fittings with off-grid solar power, a slow-combustion fireplace and indoor-outdoor living options to take advantage of the stunning daytime vistas and sparkling night skies.

Adventurers, bushwalkers and nature lovers will delight in the easy access to fishing spots, horse riding trails, waterfalls, swimming holes, lookouts and walking tracks in all directions. Surrounded by bush and pasture in total privacy, the hut is a short drive to town for basic supplies but far enough away to retreat and replenish in a unique, breathtaking setting.

LAYOUT
The hut is open plan, with four sleeping spaces including a small loft with a single and queen sized mattress suitable for children, as there's little head clearance in the loft. There are three queen size beds downstairs. While each is in its own area, If privacy is important then this hut won't suit you as none of the bedrooms have doors and are part of an open plan layout.

EXTRA GUESTS CAMPING INFO
Extra guests can pitch a tent nearby the open fire pit and outdoor barbecue area with its own sink. The outside bathroom with toilet and shower has glorious views over the paddocks and fruit trees. From late spring to early autumn you can help yourselves to the peaches, nectarines, pears and plums (before the birds do).

If you would like to bring more than 9 guests to camp or bring a caravan or camper trailer please contact me to discuss access and because the number of guests can add strain to our very limited resources at the hut ( water and power) so we will need to discuss suitability depending on the weather conditions and number of extra guests and the conditions of that to see if it’s a good fit.

The open-style living area can be closed off with glass doors for winter comfort and includes a kitchen with a slow-combustion stove and gas cooktop, also great for heating the whole hut on those cold winter nights.

OUTDOOR BATHROOM
The outhouse is 5 metres from the hut and has a separate shower and flushing toilet. Both have stunning views over the orchard and paddocks.

AMENITIES
ESKY
There's no fridge (they suck a lot of power!) but you can keep fresh produce icy cold in the 125L commercial Esky – an old-fashioned ice box with plenty of storage. Ice is also available at the Ebor service station five minutes away. Or you can pick it up en route at Dorrigo, Grafton or Armidale. We suggest 3-4 bags of ice.

WHAT WE SUPPLY
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS & TOWELS
We supply soap, pillows, doonas, blankets and toilet paper .. we have mozzie nets in the summer months and hot water bottles for winter.
We supply firewood, matches, firelighters and mozzie coils.
However, due to the remote location of the hut we are unable to provide towels sheets and pillow cases. So please bring a fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillow cases to go under the doonas and blankets provided. Please do not use our own linen as they are for our own use only. All beds are queen sized except one single mattress in the loft.

POWER
Our hybrid slow-combustion-solar power set-up means there is minimal power for gadgetry, but a single power outlet allows you to recharge small electronic devices. like phones, laptops and camera batteries. There is not enough power for hairdryers, stereo systems or heated blankets. The hut has 6 internal lights.
Telstra's 3G network provides mobile coverage.

We've supplied a stack of board games and puzzles plus cards and books, so staying here is a chance to slow down, chat fireside, play games, read and relax the old-fashioned way.

Due to the remoteness of the hut and the limited power on site our caretaker cleans and prepares the hut for your arrival. All you need to do is enjoy the hut and all that it has to offer. We are unable to use a vacuum on site due to limited power. so all cleaning is done by broom. We appreciate your understanding.

WEATHER & ACCESS TO HUT
The hut is accessible by 2 wheel drive, however, please do not bring a low lying car or sports car. In wet weather we recommend an all wheel or 4 wheel drive to reach the hut safely. If you book months in advance, we can’t predict your access until closer to your arrival date. We will always contact you with an update should you require 4 wheel to access the hut.
However, to err on the side of caution we recommend that you own a suitable vehicle to manage all weather conditions and to avoid disappointment if the weather requires an appropriate vehicle for access.

HUT INFO
When you arrive at the hut please read through the hut Information folder carefully, as it explains where everything is and how it all works. There is also a detailed check list to follow when you check out ensure the hut is shut down properly and our equipment is well looked after, failure to do so can result in damaging our system and loss of your bond.

ARRIVAL & THINGS TO KNOW
Getting to Hernani Hut is part of your wilderness adventure.
Once you have booked you will need to email Susan at susan@weilhouseliving.com.au to receive the hut info & directions to reach the hut, you will not locate it via google maps. It’s a fairly easy, well-marked 1km off-road drive from the main Road. Plan to arrive well before sunset, as the hut can be difficult to find in the dark.

HUT CHECKLIST
The hut Accommodates: 9 people in the house with extra room for camping/camper trailers. We charge extra guests 2 years plus $25 per person per night.
If you plan to bring extra guests to camp, please check this with Susan first before booking, as weather conditions can impact the number of guests staying on site. Campers will need to bring their own phone chargers, drinking water, plates and cutlery as there is not enough power and equipment at the hut to accommodate more than 9 guests.

We highly suggest that guests take out travel insurance to cover any accidental loss of funds as a result of Covid. Thank you for your understanding.

Lost in the bush !
Hernani hut is a perfect retreat for those who want calm and nature. It is a wild experience that will suit you only if you are ready to accept to live like the Ingalls family from the Little House on the Prairie. We get there by night and finding the way (One last kilometer in the bush with a small SUV) way difficult. We finally found the hut and spent there 3 perfect Days and nights surrounded by black angus beefs and kangaroos. Wonderfull sunsets. Good to know : only on room is separated from the 3 other double beds (including one under the roof). Don’t forget your sheets and towels. I recommand Hernani Hut for adventurers !

Into the Wild!
I had such a great little adventure here. I went alone for some R & R, and it was sooo peaceful. I loved the simplicity, it felt like my little nest, just what I was looking for. I enjoyed exploring the national parks. Climbed to the highest point north of the alps at Cathederal rocks, was blown away by the beauty at the Guy Fawkes National Park, Chaelundi Falls and saw some of the happiest cows on earth on the way, so much more exploring still to be had. Thanks Susan for sharing your awesome wilderness hut, it is magical. I will be back and am excited to share this with so many others, it won't be the best kept little secret for much longer :)

Most Amazing Experience, absolutely stunning hut.
What a stunning hut so beautifully crafted and eco conscious :) Set amongst a beautiful landscape. This place is just MAGIC. We felt so secluded and relaxed. We loved lazing on the comfy beds near the sun drenched windows looking onto the beautiful paddocks. We enjoyed: deciphering the instructions to get to the hut, walking to cathedral rock , cooking scrumptious meals on the out door fire pit, getting back to basics, watching the sunset, listening to the sweet songs by the birds in the blossoming fruit trees, playing scrabble in candle light, sleeping next to the indoor fire, sleeping beneath the stars- the closed in porch has the most amazing windows you sleep watching the stars and awake with perfect views of the beautiful sunrise, a blissful solar hot shower in the out house, while little swallows fly up to their nest under the eave. This place is amazing the attention to detail and overall experience was perfect. We highly recommend. Tonya and Brett

About the host

Hi,
I'm Susan and I live on an 8 acre biodynamic farm, 5 min from Bellingen with my two daughters. Here I grow seasonal fruit and veggies and eggs for ourselves and our guests. We offer three beautiful farmstays here on our farm catering to wide range of tastes and budgets. We have horses, sheep, goats, chickens and dogs for your children to enjoy and help us feed. Feel free to have a look at what we offer at ww.weilhouseliving.com.au

Why they chose this property

This was the last piece of privately owned land on a TSR in NSW. It's unique in that it's only 1/4 acre and all land holdings in this area are a minimum of 100 acres. Its wild, its private, its close to three beautiful national parks and it offers people a chance to unplug from the world for a few days and get back to the basics.

What makes this property unique

The back drop of this hut is magical, and the hut is designed to take full advantage of the beautiful surrounds. There is plenty of native wildlife and the night skies, sunrises and sunsets are out of this world. Hikers, bushwalkers and nature lovers will love the choice of walking trails to enjoy in surrounding National Parks. This is truly a very special getaway.
