Quiet location, great views and well equipped property

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - it was a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire.

The cottage was well equipped (more kitchen utensils than you'd ever need!) and discovering the outdoor games equipment was a very nice surprise. It kept the kids, with their inexhaustible energy, entertained after a day out allowing us to relax.

One very minor issue was there could be some tips on how to get the downstairs rooms heated better what with the thermostat being upstairs, but otherwise we truly enjoyed the stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much Simon for your lovely review. Yes, the multifunction games room has just been completed and the photos are now going up on the website. it will be used for yoga, workshops and weddings as well. Thank you for pointing out about the bedrooms getting heated better, yes there are some tips that I can give to make this work better. I will now make a sign in the bedrooms so that everybody is as warm as they want to be. Welcome back

Great base to explore Pembrokeshire. Very Well equipped Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Everything provided, great upstairs lounge, dining, kitchen area wth some great views. Comfy beds, good hot shower. Only slight negative, lots of woodlice in bedroom, but it is a very old , rural setting perhaps to be expected.

Well equipped and beautifully situated

  • 4 of 5

setting is ideal; lovely views and proximity to Newport and the beach. great for walking in the hills, on the coastal path or exploring further afield. The house is well looked after and serviced and is very comfortable. Particularly liked sitting on the decking area, the wood stove and the garden with toys on hand. Very well equipped kicthen

would be nice to have some more descriptions of walks and paths in the area and it was a bit starnge that there was a car in the carpark area that appeared to belong to non one.

Lovely living and outdoor areas

  • 3 of 5

A lovely converted 'cottage' in spacious grounds. We enjoyed staying in this sympathetically converted home. The living areas were a joy, but the sleeping arrangements were not suitable for our party : a beautiful double bedroom and two small beds in smaller bedrooms. We were a group of three women and these sleeping arrangements would much better suit a couple or a small family. The sofa bed was in the living area which had little barriers against the early morning light. However, this is a dilemma, which as a group of walking women, we struggle to solve year after year and property after property. The manager was friendly and helpful and we would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Had a nice time, thank you

  • 3 of 5

The cottage is very nice... in it own grounds, no neighbours (apart from adjoining main house but was empty when we were there), so very quiet and peacful place to stay. Views of the sea from some windows and corner of main house garden. Lovely big garden, divided into different areas, with barbeque facility and table and chairs. Cottage is old style with brick walls (painted white), very nice. Large lounge. We had a very relaxing time. Lovely walks from the house, can recommend the walk down to the sea and along coast to Newport. Newport has a lot of very nice restaurants and a few traditional pubs. Good location for driving to other areas like New Quay, Cardigan and Fishguard. Cottage also has a log fire, but we didnt use it.

The only problem we had, which is why it got 3 stars and not 4, is the main bedroom had a damp smell, and we had a baby which we we worried about sleeping in a damp room, and although it states wireless internet, it is a very weak signal on the stairs which cuts out a bit. Apart from that it was lovely and would get 4 stars from us othewise. Thanks for a nice break in a nice cottage.

Owner's Response: Thank you for coming and reviewing the cottage. It sounds as though you had a great time apart from some damp smell? I am certainly very sorry about this and it had been a time when we had just washed the carpets and done some work on the wall there. We are so very sorry about this and can reassure anybody that there has been no problem since then. Every winter we do a lot of improvements work and some outside work in the summer. We would not keep getting the 4 star rating otherwise. Welcome back for another holiday.

Pembrokeshire is a place of magic, mystery & enchantment with wild landscapes, imbued with five-thousand years of deeply layered history and culture. From the Neolithics through to Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table, our area was of great spiritual significance to its early inhabitants, and an abundance of ancient monuments, relics, and sacred sites still surround us today.

A web of public footpaths take you right from our doorstep through incredible and varied landscapes. Explore fairy-tale wooded valleys, heather-clad open moorlands, the charged Bluestone outcrops of Carn-Ingli (Angel Mountain*), Newport's* Mile-long beach, and the wild windswept clifftops of the renowned Pembrokeshire coast path.

The medieval town of Newport remains in another era. The Norman church and castle stand proudly over the tightly winding streets, with family run shops and gnarly old pubs still bustling with true welsh charm.

Other Activities: The 180 mile long Pembrokeshire Coast Path offers superb hiking in pristine landscape.
