Why is renting our apartment different from most other short-term rentals in NYC

1. We live on the property. While the apartment is a separate unit with a private entrance, we live upstairs. If you have any questions, concerns or issues, we can address it right away and most of the time, in person.

2. We provide all of our guests with an information binder with valuable neighborhood and NYC information and we are also readily available to help with any questions.

3. We love to travel and stay in vacation rental apartments ourselves and know what is important to our guests. We professionally clean our apartment between guests and make sure everything possible is provided for our guests comfort.

Dining and Shopping : We are located in a prime area of central Harlem on West 127 St. between 5th & Lenox Avenues just 2 short blocks from the 125 St. retail/business district. Famous Sylvia’s soul food restaurant is literally around the corner. Down the block is one of the hottest restaurants in NYC, Red Rooster, owned by celebrity/iron chef Marcus Samuelson. Corner Social, a casual bar & restaurant features a lively atmosphere. There is also Cantina for Mexican and for authentic Napolitan-style brick oven pizza restaurants, Sotto Casa. If you want to eat at home but don't feel like cooking, take out at most neighborhood restaurants is also an option along with the expansive prepared foods section at Whole Foods or the various neighborhood Soul Food Buffet & Salad Bars. For those of you that want to prepare your own meals, Whole Foods is 2 short blocks south and Pioneer Supermarket is 3 short blocks north.

Retail shopping on 125 St. includes Marshall’s, TJ Maxx & Burlington Coat Factory (Designer/Brand name discounters) , H&M, Victoria's Secret, DSW Shoe Outlet, Old Navy, Banana Republic & Gap Outlets, and House of Hoops (Sporting Goods).

Perfectly placed for a family stay in NYC.

The apartment is really well placed, less than 10 mins walk from one Harlem subway and 15 mins another line in the other direction. From those, its a straight subway ride south down green or red lines into central Manhattan. Its a c.20-25 min walk down to the north end of Central Park. There are a few good local restaurants within 10 mins of the apartment also(Il Café Latte for breakfast, Harlem Shake for burgers etc, and Cantina for a touch of Mexican...). The owners live upstairs - which made contact for any queries easy. It was neat, tidy, with everything you would need for a family stay, with a full kitchen and good wifi. We used it as a base for a lot of exploring of NYC and have no hesitation to recommend it.

Lovely little apartment in a nice part of town,

Me and my husband have just stayed in Michael and sandy’s apartment for 4 nights,communication before hand was excellent and they were very informative with everything I asked. Upon arrival access to the property was easy with a key safe and instructions emailed before hand, apartment was spacious and clean. We asked for extra bedding for the sofa bed and it was no problem what so ever. The eatery’s that we’re recommended (Sylvia’s ) was our first port of call after along flight and we weren’t disappointed, classic New York food. Sandy came and gave us a run down of the subway maps and must see of things to do. First was the rockafella (top of the rock) great view of the city and the Empire State Building, the High Line which we didn’t know about was a lovely walk on a sunny day away from the hussle and bussle of downtown NY, and sandy also recommended a visit to Greenwich village with its quaint little streets and great places to eat. And we also got to see the Friends building and Carrie Bradshaws apartment building. Only downside to the apartment is it’s location it’s a 20 min subway ride back from downtown Manhattan if you wanted to go and freshen up or have an afternoon kip, jet lag is a killer those first few days, but isn’t a major problem and we actually enjoyed the freedom of a self catering app rather than a hotel. All in all we had a wonderful stay in New York, great hosts in Michael and Sandy and yes we will be back and I would recommend the apartment to anyone wanting to visit the city as it’s a great alternative to hotels.

Great Hosts in Harlem

My wife and I stayed 30 days in Michael and Sandy's apartment during October/November 2023. The unit was well-maintained and secure, and the hosts were very helpful and responsive. No problems at all, good advice if we asked, and wonderful proximity to retail and subway lines 2 and 3. We have stayed in the area before and enjoy it enough to keep returning. Having responsive hosts makes the decision easier and Michael and Sandy are as helpful as we can imagine. Thanks! CND

Perfect Location

We quickly settled in to Michael and Sandi's very comfortable apartment. It has everything we needed. Importantly it was the perfect location from where public transport conveniently took us all over the city. Our hosts were easily contacted when we needed information too. Fantastic home in the heart of bustling Harlem

Wonderful first floor unit with all the conveniences. Clean, quiet, and close to subway. Lively neighborhood. Lots of eateries and convenient to groceries. Sandy and Michael are super hosts. Attentive and friendly. Amid all the attractions and history of Harlem, and close to TImes Square. We loved it and would definitely come back.

One of us was born and raised in NYC and the other has lived in NYC for 20+ years and we couldn't imagine living any place else! We love traveling, reading, gardening, running, skiing, tennis, good food & wine and enjoying all NYC has to offer!
