Have you ever stayed in an original 1860's timber slab hut? This is no ordinary building and will make your stay in Beechworth very memorable. 1860 once had mud floors and a shingle roof but has been lovingly restored over many years to offer couples luxury, tranquillity and total privacy - an amazing transformation from its humble beginnings. It's romantic and built with an eye for detail, from the well stocked pantry to the craftsmanship and skill of the restoration.
With an open fire, double bath, huge leather lounge, king sized bed and full kitchen, 1860 overlooks Spring Creek and the surrounding parklands of Lake Sambell. The decor is simple, elegant and of very high quality (with no lace or doilies in sight). 1860 is a 5 minute walk to the centre of Beechworth, has off-street parking and is at the end of a quiet laneway.
1860 was voted in the Top 100 best new discoveries in Travel & Leisure Magazine and was awarded 'Most Environmentally Sustainable Business' in the 2011 Shire of Indigo Business Awards.
Built in the 1860's by a timber feller & carpenter, 1860 was deconstructed piece by piece and moved from Taggerty to Beechworth to save it from the ravages of time & weather. It was rebuilt using traditional methods to maintain the integrity and historic value of the building.
Fully self contained for couples, 1860 is packed with features to make your stay truly memorable.
