The Farmhouse Basement and The Farmhouse South Wing are 2 of 7 properties set in the complex at Oakerthorpe Holiday Village.

The Farmhouse South Wing is part of the main Farmhouse known as Amber Mill Farm. The property was built circa 1790 and is grade 2 listed.

The first floor of the South Wing consists of 5 double bedrooms, 3 with en-suites and 1 twin bedroom along with a family bathroom. The ground floor has a large country kitchen with dining table and a spacious lounge area with w/c. The ground floor double bedroom with en-suite wet room -for further mobility access questions please inquire.

Please note that the ceiling height varies throughout the property of The Basement due to its retained character of arched stone ceilings.

The Oakerthorpe Holiday Village grounds include a large playpark, designated BBQ area and a floodlit sports area.

Within the walled Orchard at the Farm are geese, ducks, bantams, quails, peacocks, sheep and meerkats where Farmer Vic invites guests to help at feeding time and collecting the eggs from the chickens.

The Oakerthorpe Holiday Village aims to provide a truly memorable stay for all its guests.

A beautiful property and great location for a family gathering

We really enjoyed our stay at Oakerthorpe and loved the South Wing property and all the animals. It was very clean and well equipped although the dining table seated 10 people, not 12, and the fridge space was not adequate. Although the ground floor bedroom is a great facility for people with mobility problems, there is no opening window or ventilation.

The beds, bedding and towels were lovely quality- in the warmer weather ( which we were lucky enough to have) thinner duvets would be better. The fans came in very useful. I think the BBQ hire was a little steep at £25 but if you used it all weekend it would cost in, and all the outdoor seating was great. Vic and the staff were very helpful and provided secure storage for bikes- thank you very much.

We are a family group of 11 who like to spend a few days together at Christmas Oakerthorpe was ideal

We saw the South Wing property and immediately felt it was the perfect house. It is beautifully decorated throughout and very spacious. We stayed at the house for three days over the Christmas period and had a very enjoyable time. Loved the orchard with the animals.

Would definitely recommend the property and hope to return sometime in the future.

Great place for a family get together,

Lovely house ,super situation, and great for the children with the animals and play park. Oliver (21 months) is besotted by tractors , so we did have a few issues getting back inside!!

House is well set up and very comfortable, the extra doors upstairs meant we didn’t get disturbed by the grand children too early!

Vice was extremely helpful providing children’s equipment extra sheets etc when needed. He was always very friendly and so keen to please.

It would better to have a larger fridge for the number of guests staying there, and the shower in the family bathroom didn’t work.

There were very good information folders in the house about equipment and places of interest.

We will return and certainly recommend it to our friends.

Lovely property in good location

We were a group of 5 friends staying at The Farmhouse South Wing for 4 nights.

The property is very nicely appointed with good facilities. It was nice to have 5 good sized bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (3 of them en suite) with a separate downstairs loo. (I believe there is now an additional en suite bedroom on the ground floor)

The lounge area is also very nice.

We felt that as the property was capable of accommodating 12 adults (+ room for 2 children on the sofa bed in the family sized room), it would have benefited from a larger fridge & freezer. The under counter ones were supplemented by a wine fridge, which we also used for food.

We didn't see Farmer Vic during our stay, although his son was around & very helpful.

There were no pubs or shops within walking distance, but only a short drive away.

We all enjoyed our stay very much & would recommend the property.

Wow!

House has the wow factor without being intimidating. Made a great base for our stay. On site facilities are top notch. Children enjoyed feeding the animals with Farmer Vic. Rachel was so helpful, especially with a couple of unforeseeable problems that arose, dealt with immediately. Hope to return and explore the area. Highly recommended is not praise enough!
