If you want to enjoy living right in the middle one of the most charming 400 year old colonial cities in all South America with out having to endure the cold, noisy, old housing common to the area, you have found your home. Our condo is new as of 2016 and designed to appeal to those who want the luxury of all the modern conveniences, a beautiful serene quietness but located in the heart of all the colonial action. There is a master bedroom with king bed and en suite bath, a second bedroom with a Queen bed and an en-suite bath, and a 3 bedroom with twin beds and access to the hall bath. A fully furnished gourmet kitchen, dinning for six, a large living area and a large terrace overlooking the river and mountains nearby. There is private secure access from either the river walk below or the City access above. Our price reflects the high quality furnishings, unbeatable location and incomparable design and style of this unit. There are many cheaper units in El Centro, but if you want the best..this is it. Wonderful condo in old town

This was a lovely and very convenient condo in excellent condition within walking acess to many sites. We felt very safe everywhere we wandered. Do take some tours to the more remote sites. Phil, our host was pleasant and available if needed.

Wonderful apartment in old city

Nogal apartment was very comfortable, clean, in a great location. The apartment has a wonderful balcony with views of the newer city. We felt very lucky to find it.

Pretty apartment, perfect location!

Overall, a great place to stay. Located off the busy Calle Larga, you can easily walk to the beautiful historical center with plenty of good restaurants in between. The big mercado with fresh fruit and veggies is literally steps away and the supermarket is just a short taxi ride away. We always felt safe walking in this neighborhood, both day and night. The apartment is situated on the second floor with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer front row seats to the daily show of spectacular sunrises and sunsets and crazy cloud formations. The skies are simply gorgeous! The apartment is bright, spacious, and tastefully furnished. The showers have good water pressure with plenty of hot water. Wifi connection was basically good. (I can’t comment on the TV experience since we never used them). Since no place is ever perfect, I will offer suggestions for improvement. The kitchen is equipped with the bare minimum. Cooking large meals and entertaining guests would be difficult at best. The host may want to invest in a new set of pots, pans, baking dishes, silverware, and linens. The master bed is comfy, although on the firm side. The second bedroom mattress is hard as a rock and the third bed only slightly better,. However, that could be some people’s preference. Cuenca was quite chilly when we were there. Unfortunately, the apartment has only one small electric heater that we had to carry from room to room to stay warm. Having a small heater for each room would be a lot more comfortable. On our last day there we washed our laundry in preparation to pack, only to discover that although the dryer ran, it did not heat up enough to dry the clothes. In all fairness, the owner may be hearing this for the first time. Since we were scrambling to find a place to dry our clothes and catch our flight, we had no time to notify him. Thankfully it all worked out! All in all we enjoyed our stay and left behind fresh unopened grocery items for the next tenants to enjoy. With just a few fundamental improvements, this place would easily earn five stars!

Why they chose this property

Ever since we moved to Cuenca, we have wanted a place in El Centro, but because of the "patrimonial" rules almost all property in the central must maintain its "as built" 100's of years ago charm. This makes it very difficult to find a modern, well lit, warm, quite and contemporary place. When this project began on vacant land, we immediately bought a unit because we realized it to be a one of kind opportunity to have both the New and Old world together in one of the most beautiful and exciting places of all South America.

What makes this property unique

Our unit has many unique benefits but the greatest one is its superior location, right between Old Town Cuenca and New Town Cuenca. Our bottom entrance gives you immediate access to New Town and our street entrance opens the door to all of the beautiful walk-able places in Old Town.
Another great benefit is that it is a one level unit. There are no interior stairs, no going up and down to the bedrooms, only a short one level access stairway from the outside to the front door.
