Chalet La Ribambelle, 3 minutes by car from the ski slopes and with a shuttle bus at the end of the road, is a beautiful traditional chalet set above the alpine village of Combloux, with spectacular views of the Mont Blanc and its mountain range. It has been used as a family holiday home ever since it was built approximately 50 years ago by our parents. It is set at the end of a quiet lane, with rolling fields below and very few other houses around, providing a wonderfully tranquil setting with plenty of open space. The chalet is on three levels, with the main living accommodation on the middle level. The house sleeps 14 people in six bedrooms with 4 bath or shower rooms, very spacious living areas and wonderful views from most windows.

Great chalet in quiet location with fabulous views

  • 5 of 5

An ideal property for a late summer get together with family and friends. Spacious and comfortable accommodation with room for all to spread out. The bedrooms are comfortable and a good size, the property is well managed and the owner very helpful in providing information and guidance on what attractions and restaurants are worth a visit. The location is ideal, quiet (except for the occasional cow bell), close to the village and the views are stunning. Exactly as described.

This was our second September stay at this property and we are looking forward to returning for our third next year - what more can I say!

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay as much as the previous year and looking forward to seeing you back here next year. A large number of our guests rebook every year or every other year as it is such a spacious chalet and in the perfect place, tranquil and with the fantastic view over the mountains.

Excellent location, fabulous views home from home

  • 5 of 5

We received a very warm welcome from Madame Christelle, the Chalet has all the facilities you could hope for. The views across the valley from the living room plus bedrooms were stunning. The location is very good, with good access to both ski lifts and the village centre. We had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay and hope to return again.

Amazing views, convenient location, very clean and tidy, high spec, homely accommodation. Secluded away from any noise with good skiing, walks and village nearby. Very helpful and accommodating owners. Catered with everything (and more) that you'll need for your self catered stay. Very well equipped for families with young children and groups alike. Definitely hope to return here for an amazing holiday again someday :)

Owner's Response: So pleased that this family, coming to La Ribambelle for the first time, had such a good holiday that they plan to come again, as do most of our guests. 80% of our guests have come more than once. We look forward to welcoming them back.

Fantastic chalet, spectacular views.

  • 5 of 5

I have been arranging skiing trips for family and friends for a few years now and we have found a real gem with this property. 12 of us have just returned after having a fantastic time at Chalet la Ribambell. It is situated down a private driveway with spectacular views of Mont Blanc. It is very well maintained and very clean, with a well equipped kitchen and a good selection of games and dvds for your apres ski entertainment. Unlike a lot of places i've stayed there is plenty of storage space and the heated utility area in the basement is ideal to store and air all of the groups skiwear and equipment. We were text by the chalet maid whilst travelling down to check on our arrival time and met when we arrived. She spoke very good English and gave us a tour of the property. The owner stays in regular contact with you as well. I even received a Christmas card. Little things, but they go a long way to make you feel a valued customer and enhance your whole holiday experience.

Highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We spent a very enjoyable week at La Rimambelle. The chalet is in a very quiet position above Combloux, well away from any busy roads. It has the most extraordinary views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding mountains - better than the views from Chamonix in most ways because the extra distance lends some perspective. Not that this makes Mont Blanc look any smaller!

The chalet itself is very comfortable: plenty of space for sitting and eating, comfortable beds, showers that work well, and the kitchen and laundry are very well equipped. There is an attractive decking area outside the sitting room with lots of room for sittting, eating, gazing at the mountains and listening to the cow-bells carrying up from the field well below. The chalet feels like a home rather than an anonymous rental place.

Daniele's father built La Ribambelle in 1960 for his growing family. He chose the 4000m2 site because of its unique position and view over farmland to Mont Blanc

LOCATION . Combloux is one hour from Geneva Airport and 8 hours drive from Calais by motorway. A free shuttle bus runs winter and summer from the end of the road to the ski slopes and to the village. Combloux, described by Victor Hugo as 'the pearl of the Mont Blanc range', has a small supermarket and a range of other shops and restaurants, and is just a few minutes’ drive from the house, which in turn is just a two minute drive from the ski slopes in winter – or great walking in summer. The village has a Wednesday market and a tourist office which co-ordinates lots of local activities for all ages. There is a larger supermarket within a 10 minute drive, and the valley town of Sallanches, with hypermarkets and shopping outlets, is approx. 20 minutes’ drive.

CHALET. La Ribambelle is a spacious family chalet with unbroken views of snow-capped Mont Blanc and its mountain range .

SKIING.Combloux as a ski resort has a good network of slopes with altitude 1200m – 1900m, and is also connected to some of the Megeve slopes and La Giettaz. The resort offers a good range of skiing , downhill and crosscountry, for beginners to advanced and has an excellent , friendly ski school and a creche for young children. Across the valley, 5 minutes away, the modernised telecabine of La Princesse sweeps you to the slopes of Ste Gervais, Mont Arbois and Les Contamines. At the chalet we have a large heated area to store and dry your ski gear, though you can hire lockers next to the slopes at Combloux

GOLF. The Golf Club of Megeve is only 15 minutes away. A club which holds many tournaments and has the most beautiful mountain views, to make even a bad round of golf a pleasure. It has a very comfortable bar and a good restaurant. There are three other excellent courses within a 45 minute drive: Chamonix, Giez and Esery.

WALKING. A superb centre for walking in summer and winter. You can start your walk from the chalet . The whole region is ideal for walking and the walks are well marked. In the beautiful clean alpine air, with wonderful views and unspoilt countryside , it is a walker's paradise. Some lifts function in summer for both walkers and mountain bike enthusiasts.Restaurants and bars are to be found on some of the paths.

ACTIVITIES. Swimming. In summer you can swim in the bio-lake in the village, unique in its natural water cleansing system, with lovely lake-side grassy areas to sun-bathe, and adjacent restaurant and beauty centre offering a range of treatments. In Megeve,10 mins, there is an olympic size heated outdoor pool with sunbathing areas and two indoor pools including one for infants.

Parascending, ballooning, climbing, horseriding, tennis, ice skating, crazy golf, white water rafting, fishing, cycling, mountain biking (many marked pistes and lifts for VTT riders), children's playgrounds, adventure playgrounds, tree top adventure walks, skateboard parks, summer toboggan (luge)

MEGEVE Other local attractions include the traditional alpine town of Megeve, one of the oldest ski resorts in France and made famous by the Rothschild family. Megeve is just a 10 minute drive, where you can enjoy a range of beautiful designer shops, pretty streets with plenty of cafés and restaurants, as well as a superb typically French weekly Friday market with beautiful fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese, olives, honey, jams, saucisson, cooked meats, bread and an unforgettable fish stall. There are international festivals and concerts throughout the year

SIGHTS Chamonix is a 45 minute drive, with its cable car to the Aiguille de Midi at 3842metres with e.xceptional views over the mountain tops. The Montenvers rack and pinion railway takes you to the Glacier, the Mer de Glace, where you can walk inside the glacier in a cut out tunnel with ice sculptures.Unforgettable.

Annecy, a beautiful medieval town, with lovely shops,a huge lake and a huge choice of restaurants is well worth a visit and is 1 hour away either across a mountain pass or by motorway.

Le Fayet/St Gervais. (20 mins) The tramway de Mont Blanc takes you for an hours trip up the mountainside .

From the main line station a narrow guage railway, the Mont Blanc Express, takes a 90min trip through the mountains and glaciers to Martigny in Switzerland, giving the most remarkable views. The Fondation Gianadda art gallery in Martigny has a remarkable collection of masters and a fascinating collection of very early motor cars in the basement with an eclectic array of sculptures in the extensive gardens. It features many special exhibitions.

Evian (60mins) a beautiful old town. Take the ferry (30 mins) across Lake Geneva to Lausanne in Switzerland. Picturesque town with a really interesting Olympic Museum on the banks of the lake. There are dining cruises available on the lake
