2 bedrooms beautifully restored authentic medieval town house, sleeps 4 to 5

The house is located in the centre of the tranquil village in a quiet pedestrian street leading to the village's church and square. The house originates from the XIIIth century , and has just been fully renovated for your comfort, bringing you all modern conveniences. The house is heated throughout for cosy stays whatever the season. Original features : oak beam ceilings throughout, beautiful original stonework...

Upstairs : 2 large bedrooms, and a family size bathroom with bath and shower.

Downstairs : large lounge / dining room with sofa, wireless internet connection, english satellite TV, DVD player, dining table and chairs. From the lounge you walk into the fully equipped kitchen that leads directly onto the courtyard where you can sit out for your meals, or read a book... Downstairs you will also find a utility room with washing machine.

There are always parking spaces available in the streets nearby , or the church's carpark about 50m away. Free parking.

Numerous festivities from June until September. In the summer : every thursday night , there is a night market/dinner on the square of the village.

SARLAT 40km , bastides of Monpazier 20km , Eymet 20km.

Bergerac airport 15minutes away / Bordeaux airport 170 km

About Caroline Brooker

We are a french-english couple who moved to the area in 2003 after living in south London. We always dreamt of bringing up our children in the country and Garreth wanted to renovate old buildings so we headed back to France and chose the Dordogne for its beauty, and work opportunities. We first renovated what is now our home near Monpazier , and in 2007 took on board the project of a derelict medieval house in Issigeac. It took longer than expected to get to this stage as we since have had 3 children.

Why Caroline Brooker chose Issigeac

We just happened to visit this house with a friend who was thinking of buying it but decided the work involved was just too much. Then Garreth set himself the challenge of renovating it, he did everything himself, with precious help from family and friends at difficult times ! We just love the village of Issigeac and were charmed by the property and the fact that it had outside space. We started renting it out for holidays in 2012 and we are delighted that guests enjoy it as much as us.

What makes this house unique

I would say that what makes our house special is that it is located in the heart village but still has an outside space with the courtyard where you can sit down for meals on long summer evenings.

We have had an amazing 2 weeks in this fabulous old house. Everything you need. Just love the old town and the sunday market. Ate at Chez Alain and La Brucelière both excellent. Very good weather too !

Smokers are welcome to use the private outside patio. For elderly guests, please note the house is on 2 levels with staircases to access bedrooms and bathroom. The staircase is secured with child gates.

Lovely house in medieval village

The only thing missing was a welcome basket which would have been very welcome as we arrived late on a Sunday and nothing was open! However Caroline had left us bottle of milk in the fridge and there were some tea bags and sugar so at least we were able to have a cup of tea.

Linen and towels were provided, also cutlery, plates and other equipment including a coffee maker and small barbecue and plenty of guide books. Before our holiday Caroline had been very good about replying to all our emails, sending information and advice when we asked.

All we needed was in the house and as the village was so small we quickly got to know our way around it. A really fantastic situation in a wonderful village.

A little paradise in the heart of Issigeac.

Can you imagine waking up and walking out the door of your accommodation to the wonderful buzz and excitement of a Sunday market. This was a wonderful introduction to Issigeac. The home was on an enchanting lane and from the time we arrived until we left every moment was filled with great times. A 2 minute walk to a Boulongerie -5 minutes to a Boucherie and 3 minutes to a grocery store. The home was well appointed, clean and had everything that we needed. We enjoyed the outdoor patio with a barbecue. The owner Caroline left a bottle of bubbly and lovely fresh flowers for our anniversary. This definitely is a great place to stay.

Arrived just in time for the Sunday market, very busy day. The property is in the centre of Issigeac, very easy to find . Beautiful place, two large bedrooms , large bathroom with bath and separate shower, lounge/ dining area, plus further table in kitchen or outside patio area. Think everything you could think off has been provided. A few restaurants , cafes, along with butchers , supermarket and bakeries . Very pretty and interesting medieval village, but you do need a car to visit other villages, very limited bus services, but we did make it to Bergerac, and went on a day's wine tasting, vineyards and lunch, highly recommended with 'Bergerac wine tours'. 15 minutes to the airport on very quiet roads. A very enjoyable holiday, would recommend. Thank you Garreth and Caroline.

Lovely house in a lovely town

We had a lovely few day in this super house in issigeac. The house was really nicely updated, with stone walls and wooden floors throughout and had everything we needed.

Issigeac was a really pleasant surprise. Although the house is about a minute from the centre it is totally peaceful. Even on market day (Sunday) which is a must by the way, there was little disturbance and we really had the feeling of being in an oasis.

There are a couple of small supermarkets in town, places to get your morning croissant, two or three great restaurants and a really nice cafe in the square. There really is so much to see in the area as well. We had considered staying in Eymet but really glad we stayed here instead.

If you are looking for a lovely peaceful medieval town look no further.

Caroline was super helpful too and all in all highly recommended.

It would be instantly recognisable to a time travelling resident from 600 years ago! Our beautiful French house, restored in keeping with the strict local conservation requirements, is surrounded by other stunning half-timbered houses in the tranquil centre of the villlage.

Issigeac benefits from some truly excellent restaurants, some of the best in the area, with options to suit all budgets and tastes, from confit de canard to pizza! Tempting boulangeries and patisseries, chabby chic furniture and gift shops sit alongside cosy bars and tea rooms, spilling out onto the pavements in the warm sun. The sunday morning market is viewed by locals and holidaymakers alike as perhaps the most atmospheric and vibrant in the region.
