Well presented Semi-det House ideal for relaxing break - Scenery, Golf, Beach

Updated: 14-Oct-2016
3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6

The property is a three bedroom semi-detached house. It is situated in the attractive town of Portstewart on the majestic north coast. The town has a picturesque harbour and promenade with a two-mile long beach. On the Promenade you will find a children play area, paddling pool and more. The house is off the main road , literally about a six minute/0.8km walk to the Promenade.

There is an open plan Living/Dining Area and a separate Kitchen downstairs, with two double and one single (with sturdy bunks) bedrooms upstairs. The living/dining area, hall and upstairs bedrooms all have wooden floors. The stairs and landing are carpeted. Outside there is a garage where you can hang your wet suits, store your surfboards, bicycles, etc. There is quite a large front side garden and enclosed side and rear gardens to keep the little ones safe. On the rear patio there is garden furniture (table and chairs). Fuel for the fire is also available in the coal-house. Wi-fi is available.

There are so many things to see and do in the area and beyond. Here are a few suggestions;

- Stroll down to the Promenade and peruse the shops

- Walk from the house, over the hill to the coastal path, the Strand, Barmouth or the Promenade and beyond.

- Play bowls, tennis, putting, golf or surf on Portstewart Strand Within a few miles there are Golf courses in Portstewart (3), Portrush (2), Bushmills and a 9 hole course between the two Ports.

- to the east visit Dunluce Castle, Bushmills Distillery, Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope Bridge, Ballycastle and Rathlin Island. (Bring your National Trust Card)

- to the west visit Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne for a walk.(One of the most photographed scenes in Ireland)

- Travel by train from Coleraine to Derry/Londonderry, one of Michael Palin’s Great Railway Journeys. Walk on the historic Derry walls.

- A ferry will take you from Magilligan to Greencastle in Donegal where you can go for a wonderful days drive round the Inishowen Peninsula. (Check with local Tourist Information Office that ferry is running)

- You must check out the Antrim Coast Road, described as 'one of the top 5 driving trips in the world'.

- A day trip to our capitol, Belfast, is only about 1 hour 15 minutes away.

- In Portstewart there are many restaurants,or try Portrush for a change.

- The nearest Tourist Information Office is in Coleraine; the Library situated below the Townhall on the Promenade has a little information, the Library also has internet access, which is free to members or a small charge if not.

Please Note: We respond promptly to all enquiries, usually within a few hours. If you do not receive a reply from us within 24 hrs we recommend you check your junk/spam mail box or telephone us. Thank you.

About the Owner

I am a retired Civil Servant, and for most of my working life I was in the computer software and security business. I was born in Portstewart and lived there until I got married to Hilda in 1971,

when I moved to Belfast. Hilda trained and nursed in the RVH Belfast before and after we had 3 children. Hilda has now been a counsellor for the last 20 years. We have four grandchildren.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We spent a great time in the Porstewart area, partly thanks to your sympathetic and friendly welcome, comfort, and quality of your home; we felt there (almost ...) like at home (worry less). Thank you for having so much thought to the welfare of your tenants! Everything was perfect for us.

The very pleasant weather, the uncrowded period with tourists, beautiful places, very welcoming and warm irish people (which should still learn French!). Everything was there for a great stay, despite an unpleasant red car and moving on the left!

We have not had time to discover Derry or Belfast especially; it’s a pity, but we intend to return to Ireland a fourth time!

Fantastic house and base to explore Northern Ireland Causeway coast

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic house.Geoff and Hilda went out their way to make our stay go smoothly.Lots of personal touches in the house that made it home from home..especially with two young children. So much to do and explore in the area which we did, from the Giants Causeway, Carrick a rede rope bridge, boogie boarding on the Strand beach, fish and chips at Harry Shack ( a must!) to ice cream at Morelli on the promenade. We were even fortunate to watch the Airshow...Red Arrows and fireworks and all and to top it off we attended my best friends wedding Fantastic holiday!

Will definitely recommend Geoff and Hildas house to friends and family. Thanks for fab holiday.

Excellent comfortable house, perfect location .

  • 5 of 5

We stayed just three nights but felt right at home.Location in town was great just a stroll from the seafront and restaurants bars etc.

There is a nearby Tesco and Spar store for all your needs. Geoff 's garage provides for the younger ones with buckets and spades and windbreakers. Off road parking, central heating (not needed),audio/visual entertainment excellent complimented with games for all ages.

Had a wonderful stay perfect for families.

Owner's Response: Thank you Des for your review. Glad you enjoyed our home with all the gadgets, etc. At the seaside it doesn't take much to keep the young ones occupied, just give them their bucket and spade and they're happy. They will have wonderful memories playing with their Grandma and Grandpa at the seaside. Now that you have had the three day trial package, perhaps we will see you for longer next time. Looking forward to it

Spotlessly Clean House in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 4 day break in Portstewart staying in this lovely house. The house was Spotlessly clean and had everything we required for our stay. A very well equipped house and very comfortable beds. Great location to explore the North Coast. Could not find fault with anything. Our hosts Geoff and Hillary were very jolly and provided us with an information booklet prior to our stay, telling us everything we needed to know. I would certainly recommend this property to others.

Wonderful house, perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year in a row our family have stayed at this amazing home in Portstewart. The house is well equipped with a beautiful garden and comfortably fits our 3 teenagers. The walk to golf is easy as is the walk to the beach beach. Close to pubs and restaurants. Easy access by bus to Portrush and Coleraine. We will return again and again!

Owner's Response: Thank you Michelle we are glad you all enjoyed yourselves again this year. It's a long way to come from Phoenix, Arizona. I know you like the climate in Portstewart, sunshine or not. You mention two very popular pastimes whilst in Portstewart, playing golf and going to the beach, both convenient to our house. We are also very convenient to all the wonderful 'Tourist Attractions' and more important to all the natural beauty of the North Coast. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon.

A lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying here. It's a lovely house in a great location, just a short walk from the promenade. Perfect for our young family. Very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The owners are very easy to communicate with and provide all the necessary information for the house. We would highly recommend this house.

Beautiful 'home from home'

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a lovely week at this property with my daughter and 2 young grandchildren. The house was spotlessly clean and exceptionally well equipped. The enclosed back garden was perfect for our 3 year old. There were lots of games and even buckets and spades for trips to the beach. It was an easy 10 minute walk to the promenade with its array of places to eat. We received a very warm welcome from Geoff and Hilda on arrival and would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone.

Owner's Response: I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay at our home. It was lovely to meet you with your daughter and family. Many others have also commented on how convenient we are to the Promenade, where it all happens and of course the beach. A little further afield we have all the attractions of the North Coast. Everywhere you go up here you get the free Atlantic breezes. Hope to see you all again soon.

1 Seafield Park was Hilda's family home from 1966 after moving from Belfast. Two years later Hilda moved back to Belfast to train as a nurse in the RVH. We have owned the house from about 2001. It has been fully renovated and fitted out with high quality furnishings, kitchen appliances and units. We try to ensure that the property in kept in 5 star condition, not only for our own use but to share with you, our guests.
