Family Vacation!

  • 4 of 5

We loved this Villa! It is a beautiful location and has that Greek charm we were really looking for, along with the quiet and a peaceful atmosphere. The bedrooms are downstairs to help keep the rooms cool, but also blocked a lot of noise from the rest of the house. Great setup. The nearby villages were so quaint, we especially loved going to Georgiopolis for breakfast at a wonderful bakery/restaurant. The owner of this villa, David, provided directions and was very accommodating for our stay. A couple things I was concerned about. Somehow I was lead to believe there was a path to the ocean if there was one, we did not find it. The first morning we woke up to find a large tree branch on the sidewalk, and were unsure how it broke off from the rest of the tree. The branch was quite large. We saw Suzie (housekeeping) the day we arrived, and did not see her since, even though she said she would be back mid week, as a result we were each given 1 set of towels, and really could have used more and I wanted to inform her about the tree in case it needed some attention. Lastly the master bedroom bath had a loose electrical outlet for the blow drier, which was not attached very well, and when my roommate pulled the cord from the outlet, the outlet and wires were pulled out and exposed wires, which appeared to be dangerous. We used the spare bathroom for blow-dryer and curling iron for the remainder of our stay. I would recommend this villa for families and for those who want some quiet time. Thank you.

Sensational location

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful property in an amazing situation overlooking the sea from high up .There were 6 of us staying over a fortnight and we all had plenty of room . It never felt cramped . We loved the covered veranda , the flower-filled garden and the pool . Furnishings and showers were great . The air conditioning downstairs worked very well . An aircon unit upstairs would have helped , however , as we had to rely on fans in the living room at night (but a fan was provided when requested without any quibbles ) . The villa is a little way from the village but that can be a plus and also a minus . A car is essential here . If you love butterflies then you will not be disappointed . We had over a dozen species visit us , some in large numbers . David , the owner , Mike and Carol the caretakers and Alan and Susie the cleaners/ laundry people could not have been friendlier or more helpful . Alan's sideline takeaway business is to be recommended too . He will deliver to the door and it's good stuff ! The complimentary food and drink in the fridge were hugely appreciated as we arrived late . Georgioupoli ( 20 mins in car ) is a great beach/ taverna / shopping town . We didn't have to look much beyond this for most of what we wanted out of a relaxing holiday . We recommend the beach before you cross the bridge into town . At a practical level we felt that the directions to the villa from the airport could have been a bit clearer . Finding the villa from Almyrida was a challenge . We later found the signage from Vamos far easier to follow so a route that takes you to Vamos then Kefalas on more major roads would be much easier to follow , especially after nightfall .Worth considering a re-write ? However , we had a wonderful holiday !

An absolutely wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the villa with our two eight year olds and it couldn't have been a more serene, beautiful place from which to explore Crete. From the moment you drive through the charming village you realize you've landed in am magical place, and the views from the house....only the heat could drive us back indoors from the terrace. We would begin the morning with a run to the local market for fresh bread and eggs and figs and cherries and have a lazy breakfast before adventuring forth. At night, returning to the silence of the villa was such a treat, with perfect sleeping thanks to the absolute quiet (and shutters in the bedrooms!) I would recommend getting the number for the caretakers before you arrive (they apparently didn't realize they were supposed to let us in at noon, and we were saved by the sweet pool caretaker who found us sweating it out while we waited); if you're not European and don't read Greek, it's also helpful to request instructions from them for the washing machine before hand, as you are responsible for washing your beach towels before you go--absolutely not a big deal if you don't end up fighting the washing machine as we did for a few hours as you try to pack up. This is absolute heaven on an amazing island--we can't recommend it highly enough!

Beautiful villa, beautiful views. Can't wait to visit again

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic villa, well maintained and lovely gardens. The views are breathtaking. The villa is well equipped. There are plenty of books, games & DVDs. Initially we wondered why anyone would watch a film on holiday but this proved a brilliant distraction to keep the children out of the sun in the hottest part of the day. Saying that there are plenty of places to cool down.

We were two families with 8 in total & felt there was plenty of space in particular downstairs where the bedrooms are. It was really easy to sleep as it was so much cooler downstairs but the air conditioning quickly cooled a room.

Kefalas is a lovely little village. It wasn't far to walk to , quite a bit of hill to begin but then a nice meander to the square, perhaps a 10 minute walk maybe slightly more.

It's a great base to explore the area, and at the end of a busy day it was lovely to retire back to the villa.

We can't rate this villa enough, we loved it. We only wish we had another week there.

Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada.

location, villa, view and much more is perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Villa Boreas. Everything is like the advertising, beautiful!

Thank you.

For those wishing to venture further afield, the villa is a 10 minute walk from the local 'Inka' mini mart in the small village of Kefalas, and a short drive (7km) from the beach resorts of both Almirida to the north and Georgioupoli to the south, with their long sandy beaches, shops and Tavernas where you can eat a mixture of traditional and European food. Chania with it's Venetian Harbour and extensive shopping is 30kms away, and can offer fishing, diving and other excursions, and the famous White Mountains and Samaria Gorge are also within an easy drive of the villa.
