This large, recently renovated, 4 bedroomed stone house with independent studio (creating 5 bedrooms overall) is immersed in the beautiful countryside on the edge of the Lot/Dordogne border. Set upon a hill with far reaching views of the rolling countryside within a small tranquil hamlet of just five 18th century stone houses. It is the perfect location to get away from it all with no shortage of outside space. There are 3 large terraces that provide places to relax and unwind whether you want to find your own space or collectively share an outdoor occasion with dining space for 14.

The house itself has been tastefully renovated to a high standard with luxurious fixtures and fittings, high spec bathrooms, high speed Wi-Fi in every room and a fantastic kitchen equipped with a large American fridge/freezer and ice dispenser. There are 5 large and comfortable bedrooms in total, 4 of which have en-suites and one of which is a self contained studio flat with its own kitchen, bathroom and entrance on the ground floor. The main living room is a spacious 60m² open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen with French and English satellite TV, DVD player, Stereo and cosy open fire place.

The private pool is situated in the garden 20m from the house where you will also find a large table and 14 chairs shaded by parasols next to the well equipped large (gas and a coal) BBQ area. There is lots to do for everyone with an outdoor table tennis, inflatables in the pool, swing and slide set. A perfect place to lounge around or have fun on a summers day. There is also a separate utility room for laundry where you have a brand new washing machine and tumble dryer although bedding and towels are provided and laundered for you at the end of your stay. There is private parking for 6 cars.

If you are arriving with young children then equipment such as highchairs, cots, baby bedding and baby bath can be ready for you on arrival with no further charge. Should you have any other special requests then please ask and we will be more than willing to try to accommodate.

Ideally located within a 10 minute drive to Gourdon where there are a variety of restaurants, cafes, local shops and supermarkets as well as an outdoor market every Saturday morning. Further afield you will find Sarlat, a beautiful medieval town and one of the highlights of a visit to the Dordogne. Just 30 minutes by car you will find many excellent restaurants, cafes and boutiques as well as stunning architecture and pretty winding streets. Closer by there is an excellent tennis court, swimming lake, mini supermarket and bar. In Degagnac itself about 3 mins away you will find a restaurant, bar, local shop, post office and renowned spice shop as well as the train station. Within easy reach are the famous towns of Rocamadour and Domme as well as the Gouffre de Padirac with its underground river and cave. This area is particularly famous for is prehistoric sites and local gastronomy.

The property itself is within 90 minutes of Brive, Toulouse and Bergerac airports with flights arriving directly from London Stansted, Liverpool, Birmingham, Exeter, Southampton, Leeds, Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester and Nottingham. If you are driving down then precise directions can be provided upon booking.

About William Scheiber

Born in Paris I grew up in London speaking French at home and English at school. Having originally trained as a Carpenter I often dreamed about buying and restoring a house back in my native France so when I came to a point in my life when I was able to fulfil my dream I jumped at the chance.

Why William Scheiber chose Lot

Although not originally from this area by chance or good luck it just so happens to be where my closest family has settled down. I saw this house back in 2008 and even though it looks nothing like it does now I could really see the potential in creating a unique and welcoming family home.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

I personally love the open plan living space where everyone can come together to enjoy a good meal and the fact that there are beautiful views outside does help with the convivial atmosphere. I also love the terraced area outside of the main bedroom, having coffee and croissants outside in the summer is just sublime.

Excellent.

The property was spacious and well equipped. The garden and pool perfect for our family with small children. The owner very helpful and any problems were dealt with quickly and efficiently. I would recommend this property.

The property is really beautiful with all comodities that we need and the owner is nice and pays attention that lacks nothing.

Definitly a good value.

A beautiful place to stay

This Gite and a few others are beautifully located some 5km from the nearest village and 12km from the nearest town.

The Gite has been fully refurbished to an extremely high standard with a marvellous kitchen area and en suite bathrooms.

The owner was immediately on hand to sort out any minor issues/questions and was helpful in giving more details about nearby shopping and attractions.

The Gite has it's own swimming pool and sun terrace area.

The only potential issue might be access to some of the bedrooms for people/very young children with mobility issues.

In summary though a fantastic place to spend a holiday

Grand gîte intéressant

Grande maison bien adaptée qui a permis à une tribu de 14 personnes de se retrouver et de partager de bons moments du 25 décembre au 1er janvier.

Son plan intérieur atypique lui donne du caractère, permet à tous d'avoir des lieux de repli et un grand lieu de vie commune.

Quel plaisir d'arriver dans une maison où les lits sont faits ! Le chauffage a été très efficace, les sanitaires sont nombreux et de belle qualité.

A signaler : L' escalier extérieur qui accède à la belle grande salle commune a été parfois un peu difficile au grand-père ayant mal aux genoux !

Très belle situation de ce hameau, situé à 1h de Montignac. Cela nous a permis de découvrir le nouveau site des grottes de Lascaux que nous avons tous apprécié.

Merci à William qui nous a donné de la souplesse dans les horaires d'arrivée et de départ.

PS : Dommage que les vêtements oubliés n'aient pas été retrouvés !!!

Un moment agréable

Le site est superbe, la maison est top mais les extérieurs sont décevants...

Il y a un problème d'odeur sur une terrasse ainsi qu'une évacuation de chaudière sans cheminé qui donne sur la terrasse.

La piscine n'est pas attenante à la maison ce qui peut poser problème avec des enfants en bas âges. Il faudrait également des toilettes indépendant. Ils sont tous dans les salles de bain ce qui est problématique.

Le lieu idéal pour se reposer !

Nous avons loué ce gîte pour des vacances en famille (10 adultes, 3 enfants et 2 bébés) et nous avons été ravi de notre séjour. La maison est vraiment conforme aux photos. Les enfants avaient l'espace adéquat pour jouer, courir ! Tout le monde avait son petit espace à lui pour pouvoir s'isoler si besoin. L'accueil etait super et William tres disponible au telephone et réactif : Merci à vous.

Seul bémol : une salle de bain avec baignoire serait top (la douche avec les bébés- 12 et 16 mois - étaient un peu compliqué mais faisable). Je recommande sans hésiter cette location.

Ideally located on the border of two fantastic regions the Dordogne and Lot, There are numerous attractions to visit in both regions including Rocamadour, Sarlat, La Roque-Gageac, Beynac, Domme, Saint Cirq Lapopie and Gouffre de Padirac are just a few of the many treats these wonderful regions have to offer. This area is famed for its prehistoric sites and local gastronomy as well as being a wine producing region and the 'land of a thousand chateaux'. If history and architecture are your thing then you won't be short of something to do with many Bastide and medieval towns in the local area.
