For those who just wish to unwind the peace and tranquillity of the location is ideal. You can just sit and relax by the pool or in the shade of the gardens, take a stroll around the grounds or indulge in a spot of fishing in our well stocked lake. From the terraced area beside the salt water pool, situated at the rear of the property, there is nothing to disturb you in the surrounding fields but the local wildlife. If you want to take relaxation to the next level then a visit by a trained holistic therapist can be arranged.
If you wish to indulge your cultural passions, the historic city of Bergerac is only a short drive away. Here you can stroll through the old town, enjoy a coffee by the river or even take a leisurely boat trip up the Dordogne. Alternatively, why not visit one (or more) of the pretty villages and Bastide towns that populate this area, such as the town featured in the ITV show 'Little England', Eymet. You will discover beautiful buildings and the local markets, where you can enjoy the authentic French Experience or even just purchase some local produce.
Further to the east in the Dordogne valley there are many areas of historical and geological interest including cave dwellings, magnificent underground caverns and medieval homesteads. These are well worth a visit and the beautiful, at times staggering, countryside through which you pass will only add to the adventure.
The more energetic in your group can indulge in activities such as canoeing and aerial parks (where you or your children can swing through the trees) which make for a great family day out. Alternatively you can cycle or walk through surrounding fields and vineyards.
In a region also famed for its food and wine there are many places to sample local cuisine, including a local favourite, Famille Moutier's Restaurant, which is only a 10 minute walk away. The numerous surrounding vineyards offer the chance to taste their wine, see how it is produced and purchase it direct from the Chateau. The local restaurants and bars provide an interesting and unique insight into the local culture. The night markets allow you to choose from a wide array of local dishes and wines to eat and drink al fresco while soaking up the atmosphere. These are especially enjoyable since during the summer months there is normally entertainment laid on at the same time.
If you have very small children cots and high chairs can be made available on request.

Additional charges may be made to cover heating costs in low/early and late seasons.
Long term rentals accepted. Price on request.
We thoughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it may seem small on the outside at first view but it is quite large on the inside and there is plenty of room for 2 people to move around.
The views from the windows are lovely especially the window that overlooks the lake.
The kitchen is basic but adequate but the most lovely touch is the herbs, vinegars, oils etc that are there for your use.
the bathroom is small but could do with a update but there is plenty of hot water available all day.
The outside space overlooks the lake and breakfast outside is delightful as is dinner, it gets very hot during the day with little cover but there is cover available on other areas of the whole site especially near the pool.
The pool is exceptionally clean and there are plenty of sun beds.
The property is rural but it is easy to drive to the surrounding villages and towns, whilst driving look out for the deers, there are plenty to see in the surrounding area.
Whilst talking about deers, one evening whilst having dinner overlooking the lake a deer walking past the lake oblivious that we were watching.
The property was clean, tidy and well maintained.
If you need the internet the owner John will sort it out for you to borrow the house system.
We are looking forward to returning sometime soon with our family to stay in the main house rental.
Although the weather not very good at the beginning of the week it didn't spoil the holiday. The gite was very comfortable and cosy in the damp weather, plus once the sun came out it was lovely to sit in the sun on our patio having lunch! The supermarket is easy to find and can be visited on the way to the gite from the airport. Although apart from breakfast the restaurants are very good in the area so didn't buy much.
The owners were helpful in giving ideas of places to visit both in sunshine and rain and the children were very well behaved, helpful and delightful but not pushy.
