About the property

CASA JESSICA is a simple attractive villa in traditional pueblo style near sea and sandy beaches on a quiet cul de sac set among pines and bougainvillea. 150 meters to large swimming pool-with protected shallow area for small children-and all-weather tennis court. Shops, restaurants, bars: five minutes walk. Breakfast looking down to the Mediterranean with sun for the rest of the day in the front garden or on the dining terrace. The two bedrooms look down over red roofs to the sea: with good built-in wardrobes, one has a double bed and one two singles. The spacious sitting room has high wooden beams under the lofty ceiling. It is comfortably furnished and has TV and video. The well-equipped American kitchen has a gas cooker and oven, fridge-freezer, microwave/grill and coffee-machine and a washing machine. There are good indoor and outdoor dining facilities. BBQ. The bathroom has a full bath and shower. Perfect for a family holiday.

Things to do - when you're too lazy to laze : You can just read in the sun with a good book from our bookshelves in Casa Jessica. Or: enjoy golf, tennis, football, squash, all water sports, boat hire and trips, horse-riding and even go kart racing, though not in sound range of Casa Jessica. Children will love Terra Mitica (Spain’s answer to Disneyland) and Aqualandia Water Park 45 minutes away. If you play tennis, bring a racket and tennis balls. There is a free hard-court for your use next to the swimming pool one minute from our front door.

A short drive - wonderful scenery - old villages: A 10 minute drive over the hills behind Moraira with amazing views down to the coast takes you into the Spanish interior with its Roman terracing, olive and almond trees, vineyards and orange groves. Take a trip over the Cumbre del Sol (15 minutes away) for spectacular wild country and coastal views and visit Altea (30 mins), a superb hilltop town with its lovely blue-domed church and central square for some very tasteful local artisan handicrafts. A one-hour drive takes you up to the magnificent mountain-top fort at Guadalest, to the Vergal Safari Park near Denia or to Europe's largest palm forest at Elche.

Again, perfect for small children with a separate, shallow toddlers pool. A tennis court is freely available. Just bring your own rackets and balls.

A perfect villa for a perfect family holiday

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived we were welcomed by Andre who was informative about the villa and gave us simple directions to the town.

The villa was clean, and equipped with everything we needed for everyday living.

Peters very informative description of the local area was great to have and his recommended restaurant of El Molinet was tried and loved by all of us, a great choice and great value. The walk to town is roughly 15 minutes at a casual pace and down hill which is great, even the walk back isn't too bad, we occasionally got a taxi for just over 7€ . As we didn't hire a car we stayed in the town for our meals which offer everything to suit various budgets and tastes, the supermarkets are well stocked with plenty of choice.

All in all we can't thank Peter enough for letting us stay and we can't wait to come back.

Moraira is known as the Jewel in the crown, and it lives up to that in every way.

Peter and Jan were informative and helpful all the way though and the location of Casa Jessica was perfect for us even with no vehicle. We had our 8 month old son with us and he loved it. Cannot speak highly enough of the whole experience and Moraira is beautiful.

Pleasant property

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our 11 week stay over the winter and benefited from a mild and sunny period. The bungalow was neat, tidy and clean when we arrived and as cleaned when we left. The couple of issues we had were sorted quickly by the agent. Interaction with the owner, Peter, has been friendly and very helpful.

We brought our own ramps and found the accommodation fine for our wheelchair bound son. The lounge/living room is a nice big space for our needs of transferring him in and out of the wheelchair. There was plenty of equipment for our needs, perhaps the wine glasses were still in the back of the cupboard as we didn't use them. Everything we needed to use was clean.

We booked again for 25 weeks this coming winter and have every confidence that we can expect a good stay again.

If only if was as pristine as the pictures

  • 2 of 5

We stayed in Casa Jessica for two months and I have waited over two weeks to write this review because I needed to get this as it was. We were very much looking forward to our stay as we had just retires and the pictures looked so good. Lesson learnt do not go by the pictures!! We arrived to find the front full of weeds with some of them quite high still t did give us something to do clearing them. All furnishings are old faded and the sofas very uncomfortable with the frame digging in your legs. Wardrobes are full of stuff and so you have to do your best to put your things away. When going in we thought at least it was clean only to find the cooker was absolutely filthy and so were all the draws and cupboards took two days to clean these having t wash every pot, pan, plates ,glasses etc .They charge you for a final clean obviously that is just basic cleaning floors and a bit of a polish. There are enough saucepans to cook for the whole estate but there were only two wine glasses. This is such a lovely little house but it is tired and needs an uplift, someone needs to do a full inventory get rid of what is needed and set the place up for at least four people. Loved the area and will go back but will never trust what we see on the internet again.

Owner's Response: First of all, we are very sorry that our guests were disappointed by the condition of Casa Jessica when they arrived, for which we sincerely apologise. Since this review is in such contrast to the 5-star ratings we received before, we should explain that our very reliable manager was unable on this occasion to supervise the preparation of Casa Jessica due to a family emergency. We acknowledge that this shouldn’t happen, but we are all only human. We take on board Barbara’s comments about an uplift. We are immediately replacing the sofas and will ensure that wine glasses broken by guests – we started off with a set of 1-dozen – get replaced before new guests arrive. And of course we will try to make sure the kitchen is thoroughly cleaned. As Barbara says – echoing the views of other guests – Casa Jessica is a lovely little house in a beautiful, peaceful area. Earlier guests have returned time and time again. It is particularly unfortunate that Barbara and husband didn’t find Casa Jessica at its best. We will ensure that it is given the loving care it deserves. We feel Barbara, who knew of the family emergency, is being overly harsh in her judgement. Guests who came in August gave us 5 staars again.

It was everything we expected!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed more than three weeks in Casa Jessica during the winter holidays and the place was perfect for us. We appreciated the parking space in front of the house, and the easy access to the nearby shops and bars - as well as to the lovely towns and villages around. The area and the house were both nice and quite. We enjoyed our stay a lot, and we could imagine us in Casa Jessica again in the future.

Moraira is the jewel in the crown of the Costa Blanca, the coast that stretches from Valencia to Alicante on the Mediterranean coast. Alicante and Valencia airports are about one hour's drive. (SEE BELOW HOW TO BOOK) Blissfully free of high-rise blocks, Moraira is a small but lively resort based on a traditional fishing village with its own marina, fishing port and with many good restaurants and bars. The colourful Friday market is always worth a visit. In the summer, local artists and artisans sell their handicraft from stalls around the town's central square. A great place to wine, dine and stroll.. Villa Casa Jessica is set in a pretty community with landscaped gardens. Our villa is at the end of a row of 8 pueblo-style houses with no through-traffic with views through the pines down to the blue Mediterranean. Walk five minutes along roads lined with bougainvillea and oleander to shops, bars, cafés and restaurants: 12 minutes takes you to the sea and cliffs of Cap covered in oleander and bougainvilea.

Concerts in the cultural centre in Moraira and the magnificent concert hall in nearby Teulada.

Other Activities: Wine and food, good books from our shelves.

Superb drives into the mountains ranges less than 30 minutes from Moraira where the rough, Roman-terraced hills and vineyards are a stark contrast to the glorious blue of the Mediterranean.
