Self catering accommodation with the standards of a 5* hotel

Our aim is simple, good beds, good showers, in fact all the comforts of home at a realistic price. Not a lot to ask really! Ta' Maria Court is built of the local creamy limestone and is situated on the edge of the historic town of Gharb overlooking the surrounding countryside from the private patio and large swimming pool area. It's just 2km from the best known landmark of Gozo, the Azure Window at Dwerja, and 5 min drive from Victoria, the capital. Romantically decorated bedrooms, massive living area overlooking the private patio and pool, cool, shady inner courtyard and a kitchen equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, halogen hob, extractor, etc., all go to provide you with the perfect peaceful holiday retreat. Oh and did we mention there's 2 good restaurants within 5 min walk, and a really good supermarket and off license next door but one? We can arrange car hire, bicycle hire and airport transfers if required, or why not take the new sea plane from Valetta to Mgarr Harbour.

  • All bathrooms are 'wet room' style with dual head, thermostatic showers powered by solar heating, and have the latest glass basins, illuminated demising mirrors, halogen lighting and shaver points. Soap dispensers are provided, there's somewhere to put your toothbrush and bits and bobs as well! Fluffy white towels and robes complete the experience.

Children over 6 are welcome. We provide polyester pillows and duvets, but feather and down pillows are available on request. Wheelchair access to the apartment by prior arrangement (there's a lift from the garage area to the mezzanine level (front door) but the pool area is up a few steps. Smoking is permitted on the patio and we provide ashtrays. NB Heating is provided by Dimplex wall mounted timed convector heaters as well as AC units. Bathrooms have wall mounted electric heaters.

An ideal location and a beautiful apartment.

The apartment was fantastically spacious and ideal for our family. The shared pool area was quiet and the patio and BBQ area an excellent extension of the property. The dvds and ps2 came in useful as did the Netflix. The property was well placed for car trips to all the different bays and beaches and had a couple of good restaurants that were walking distance. We were very happy with the apartment and would return.

A relaxing home from home

Firstly we found Gozo a terrific venue, with lots to see and do, this was improved by the fact that this accommodation was roomy and had a good layout. The property is furnished quite fashionably and has most of the accessories you need to self cater. The design of the bathroom / wetroom floors means that they flood

quite easily and are hard to get dry and there didn't seem to be any particular routine to when the swimming pool got cleaned but other than that I would recommend the property as a peaceful home from home in a small village with access to a well stocked grocery store and a couple of decent choices for eating out within walking distance.

Spacious apartment with everything you need.

We stayed in this very nice apartment for ten days and it could not have been better. There are three double sized bedrooms, two of which are en suite and the third has a shower room next door to it. The apartment was much larger than we expected but exactly as described in the listing.

The main bedroom has a king size, very comfortable bed with a small courtyard view. The other bedrooms are twins and again very comfortable. The lounge, diner, kitchen area is large and leads onto the patio which in turn leads to the communal pool.

It is clear that all the fixtures and fittings have been chosen with care, large mugs for tea and coffee, enough dishes, glasses, cutlery etc for everyone. Good WiFi and a huge selection of movies to watch although we didn't have the time.

The owner was a pleasure to deal with and there is an information book in the property. The guidelines on how to get to the apartment meant we went straight there and having a drink within minutes of arriving, no visiting letting agents offices!!

All the bedrooms and the living area have air conditioning units which we found to be essential for this time of year (August/September) and there were cards to top up the meter as you used it.

There are lots of good places to eat nearby, Gharb Rangers Football Club is a ten minute walk and, despite the name, is a nice rooftop restaurant with very reasonable prices.

We have stayed in a few properties in Malta and Gozo and this is by far the most comfortable and hope to return in the near future.

Our stay at Berenice's apartment was a great. We are amazed at the size of the apartment. Two bedrooms had on suite bathrooms, and a third bathroom was also perfectly designed with a wet room. The main part of the apartment was open plan with a kitchen and dining space. Every thing one needs was available including Netflix for the evenings we wanted to stay in. Most days we had the swimming pool to ourselves which my daughter loved, it was a perfect size and was right outside the apartment patio. Berenice thought of every little detail to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. We were left alone for the full 3 weeks to relax and treat the apartment as our own.

Gozo was beautiful with stunning coves and calm waters. The people are extremely friendly and each weekend there was a religious feast which would span over the weekend, with fireworks and music. We loved Gozo and the apartment so much that we intend to return next year for even longer.

Perfect apartment in Gozo

My wife and I stayed at this lovely apartment for a week in June this year. It is one of the nicest properties of many that we have rented through HomeAway and similar websites. The apartment is tastefully furnished and equipped with everthing you could need for a holiday on Gozo. Gharb is a quiet vilage located within 25 minutes drive of almost anyware on the the island. We were scuba diving from a base in Marsalform and found we could reach the bay there in under 15 minutes drive via Victoria. If we return to Gozo we will certanly consider renting this apartart again and will recommend it to others.

Gozo Luxury Apartment

Outstanding finishing touches make this apartment special. The owners' style and design features set this apart from usual holiday homes. Everything is provided, even large mugs and big wine glasses! PS2 and laptop with internet connection catered for the trickiest of holidaymaker, the late-teens son, though he too was cativated by the charm of Gozo. The Welcome Pack of groceries, wine and water was indeed welcome as we'd arrived early Sunday evening and didn't fancy a restaurant meal. Very well situated on the edge of a typical Gozo village, in an area of modern properties,some 'still under contrstruction' though no building seemed to be going on while we were there. Both teenagers in the party loved the pool, not even having to share it with folk from the other apts in the block as no-one else seemed to be in during our week. We were glad to have a hire car, as the buses weren't prolific, so the many beautiful places to visit were easier to reach. I doubt we'd have experienced the spectacular sunset at Azure Window if we'd not had the freedom to go when we did. Ta'Maria is close enough to walk to this magnificent area of coastline, if you're fit and able.

The property was very clean and comfortable, as were the patio and pool areas. Double screening on all the windows and the patio doors kept away annoying insects. (Thanks - it really makes a difference not being a mosi's banquet.) The inner courtyard was rather compact for sitting, but ideal for drying towels or washing. A couple of plumbing problems, reported by last guest, were a minor inconvenience, but took nothing away from the holiday, because there were 2 other toilets and showers and we did not want to waste any of our week complaining! Friends were staying in a nearby 'farmhouse' - their night escapades with cockroaches and the intermittent power and water they experienced reminded us of what luxury this apartment really offers! Excellent value for money, as we had to take a school holiday week and really appreciate the owners' fair pricing system not exploiting this. Would love to go back and can highly recommend the apartment for all ages. Thanks to Berenice for her friendly correspondence and help with my booking, and Celine at the car rental firm that Berenice recommeded - airport pick-up and car rental helped make this a perfect holiday.

Gozo is an ancient place and that sense of history seeps from the very soil. If you want heaving nightclubs with banging tunes, then Gozo probably isn't the place for you! If, on the other hand, you're after a tranquil, restorative break, good food, smiling people, a Mediterranean climate and azure clear water then you're in the right place. Oh, and the best diving in the Med! For such a small island there's a wealth of things to do (if you feel so inclined, but sitting by the pool with a large G&T is a valid alternative) from horse riding, cycling, water sports to the regular afternoon tea dance in Victoria! There are 2 theatres with full programmes and a wealth of archaeological sites to visit, including the oldest neolithic temple in the world! If you want sandy beaches, there are the world famous red sands of Ramla Bay, the quieter San Blas Bay, or the picturesque village of Xlendi with it's quaint harbour and water front restaurants.... and of course the plethora of architecture.
