'The Lookout' is set in a landmark position on the cliff edge towering above the bay of Paleokastritsa “one of the best views in the Mediterranean” according to cruise ship itineraries. However from this villa the scenery & wild herb scented air is yours alone to take in and enjoy. Evenings, watch the awe inspiring Santorini-like sunset, as the last day tripping boats leave Paradise Beach & the sea caves below. This cliff top retreat is set in two acres of mature olive grove & beyond that is surrounded by swathes of protected forests offering total rest & seclusion. On the doorstep are miles of unmade track ideal for exploring by foot, mountain bike or 4x4 plus easy access to the Corfu Trail. Despite this, Corfu Town is only a 30 minute drive away.

This seaside villa is designed with wide sliding doors on three sides of the big 14m x 5.5m living area. When opened, indoors merges with the outside terraces to the north&east plus the pool terrace to the west, making one huge space from which to enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle. In addition to the modern well equipped kitchen a 3 burner grill is provided for your outdoor bbqs. A quality sound system couples up to the TV & DVD plus WIFI broadband means that you stay in touch whilst relaxing by the pool! All in all a great villa for family celebrations & get togethers, entertaining or a romantic break.

The amazing infinity pool perched on the edge of the rugged cliffs means you see some of the best beaches in Corfu without leaving the water. Look down from here upon the blue & turquoise seas sparkling crystal clear inviting snorkelling or diving. Falcons & Hawks can often be observed swooping among the rocky outcrops.

Giannades village, approximately 2km away has a bar with free internet access, taverna which serves good locally sourced food, a cafe/creperie, Post Office, a kiosk selling soft drinks, confectionery etc., several small grocery shops and a local butcher. The village square is a very pleasant place to sit and relax with an iced coffee or beer, admire the views over the valley to the sea beyond and watch the world go by.

Some of the outer village roads around Giannades, including a 1km stretch leading to this property, do not have tarmac surfaces. This is a common feature in many areas of both Corfu and Greece in general and here it probably helps to keep the locality nice and quiet, it certainly adds rural charm. Some guests may prefer to hire a 4x4 vehicle for additional comfort whilst visiting, which would also allow them to explore deeper into the unspoilt countryside around.

This villa stands on towering cliffs 250 meters above the sea. It's a fabulous position, crafted by nature, providing awe inspiring views and great privacy but please be sure to keep everyone safe, especially children, by staying away from the cliff edge which although guarded still needs to be treated with respect.

'The Lookout' has been inspected and certificated by the E.O.T. (Greek Tourism Organisation). Registration number 0829K10000263501.

Thank you so much for providing such an amazing, well equipped and comfortable villa. The furnishings, fittings and equipment are all 1st class and we could not have asked for more. We were expecting a nice villa and view after seeing the photos on the website but when we walked in on the first day we were all completely overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. No photo could ever do justice to what you have on offer up here.

We have had a very comfortable and relaxing stay and hope that we may be able to return sometime soon

The Perfect hideaway

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing place, we had a wonderful time. The villa is just spectacular in all aspects from the design to the fittings, with the views especially the sunsets something that we will remember for a long time.

6 of us went (4 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 6). There is so much space, the kids loved the pool and the games room.

The local taverna at the bottom of the hill was great, the owners couldn't have been more welcoming and the food was fantastic. Everytime we went they brought out some fruit from their garden which was delicious and very much appreciated. It was very much authentic rather than set up for tourists which is so much better 😊򒠊

I must say that Lorainne (who manages the villa) was amazing, she really made everything very easy, from meeting us on the first day to get to the villa, to organising taxis with Alex (who was great), the meal (had by the In -laws whilst we were out) and just generally being available for anything we needed.

We went over to Paleokastritsa to the Akron beach bar for a wedding which was stunning. If you have children Aqualand is a great day out.

You need to hire a car (we had a min-van) as the villa is up the top of a hill, you can't have the views without getting up there :-)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review John; we appreciate that people often work hard all year to be able to afford their annual holiday and are taking a great leap of faith when making a booking so we take our responsibility to provide the package they'd hoped for very seriously. Always nice to hear when a plan comes together! Hope to see you and your family back one day. Best wishes, Julie.

Gorgeous villa with a view to match

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the lookout last week, there was 6 of us. The villa itself is beautiful and you really can't believe the view when you first see it. The infinity pool is a good size and the kitchen is very well equipped. Bedrooms are all a decent size and all have en-suites with great views. The basement is kitted out really well with sports facilities and karaoke machines, perfect for bored kids. Communication from the owners beforehand was great and very informative. The manager Lorraine was superb when we got there. So friendly, laid back and welcoming and really went out her way to help us out. They cleaned mid-week and replaced the towels which made a big difference with a group our size. We paid €90 for the exit cleaning as it would be too much to do ourselves before 10am. The only very small constructive criticisms we would have is that the shower pressure wasn't great, one room only had very hot water so might want to investigate that. The wifi seemed to only work downstairs (we tried both wifi connections) and was a bit one and off, but thats probably cause of the bad storm we had at the beginning of the week though. The pool could do with a clean mid week as a lot of bugs fall in and have to be fished out, I wasn't brave enough, the centipedes are huge! The drive from the road to the villa is about 10-15 mins and needs a very sturdy vehicle but the view and villa more than make up for journey.

Thanks very much for having us!

Owner's Response: Hi Lisa-Marie, Thanks for taking the time to review your visit and we are pleased that you and your friends enjoyed your 30th birthday and engagement celebrations at the villa. Thanks also for placing an advance order for the optional end-cleaning package; this enabled the cleaning team to schedule in the necessary extra work hours to ensure the villa was ready for the following guests. The pool is always cleaned mid-week - we ask guests to bear in mind however that they may not actually see Kostas the pool man as he often comes very early in the morning (any time after 5a.m.) and also being located as we are, surrounded by nature, keeping the pool clear of natural debris is an ongoing process (particularly if you happen to have a storm like you did during your stay). Should any guests ever require an additional pool clean please just ask the local manageress and it will be done – we want everyone to be able to enjoy the pool as it is one of the main pleasures of a villa holiday. The internet works fine 90%+ of the time but the signal is received via satellite as there are no landlines available in our clifftop location and therefore it can sometimes be affected temporarily by certain weather conditions. If anyone ever experiences any issue during their stay, technical or otherwise, we are only a phone call/text/e-mail away so please don’t hesitate to contact us for advice or assistance.

You really need a 4x4 or a vehicle with good ground clearance (and full insurance excess waiver!) but once you make it up the track to The Lookout, the views from all the air-conned bedrooms and the large triple aspect reception are breath-taking: Spectacular sunsets on the lovely utterly private terrace in one of the least spoilt coastline settings left on any Greek island served by a commercial airport.

The Lookout is modern, very well maintained by the ever-helpful Loraine and her team, and games room is an added bonus. I guess possibly the cliff edge makes toddlers a risk and you need to have cooler weather than we did if you intend hiking to the the local beach or taverna.

Staying up in The Lookout it was as if the Greek financial crisis didn't exist. The shops were fully stocked and because many people have been worried off visiting it was easy to get the best table at a restaurant.

Thank you, Tom and Julie. We felt privileged to have stayed in your villa.

Owner's Response: Glad to hear you had a good and relaxing holiday Edward. I'm pleased to confirm that the 1km public approach road, which both you and some other guests mentioned in reviews, has now been upgraded!! If you return in 2016 you will find that although it still has an unmade (gravel) surface in the flatter areas, the steeper sections have been hard surfaced thus allowing for a much improved, easier and more comfortable drive to the villa (but without spoiling the natural tranquillity, beauty and character of the area.. Best Wishes, Julie.

Clifftop Paradise

  • 4 of 5

As a get away from it all holiday venue, The Lookout is ideal. With its stunning clifftop setting, the ever-changing sky and seascapes provide endless interest, and photo opportunities.

The somewhat challenging approach road may daunt the faint-hearted, but the trip is well worth the effort. A 4 x 4 vehicle (or two) may have made our visit easier and would have encourage a few more trips out. (A tarmac road would have earned The Lookout its fifth star!!). However, most of our party had no trouble with the 2km. walk to the village and the Tristatos Taverna, which was well worth the effort.

On a couple of minor admin points, we feel that light proof blinds in one of the bedrooms would have helped get the little one off to sleep and one in the living room to aid his bed-time TV viewing.

We were surprised at the speed of the internet connection - faster than here in North Devon!.

In summary, The Lookout did exactly what it said on the tin and gave us a truly memorable experience.

Prepare to be Wowed !

  • 5 of 5

The Villa and the location exceeded all expectations . The property , perched on a 250 meter cliff provided modern , open plan and very comfortable accommodation with amazing views (believe me , your jaw will drop when you walk through the front door) . It is remote , with a good 30 minute walk to the local village and would recommend a 4 wheel drive for a more comfortable drive up although we had a Minibus which was fine. The overall booking process was straight forward. Good communication from the owners , Tom and Julie , who were happy to answer any questions in advance of our trip . Loraine managed the property locally and was always happy to help. Apart from the odd supermarket trip , we did n`t venture out that much . Can recommend the local golf course and the wine from Theotoky Estates . We also stayed in Corfu Town either side of our trip . The town had a really nice feel to it with interesting architecture , good restaurants and bars. This also avoided the higher Saturday air fares and the scrum at the airport. If you have a special occasion in mind (it was my wife's 50th) then this is an extraordinary place and would recommend it 100%.

Spectacular !!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time in Corfu and we're so glad we picked the Lookout. It was even better than we had hoped and really has the wow factor !!! We spent the week splitting our time between relaxing by the pool, exploring the island and enjoying the local tavernas. If you're looking for an amazing villa on Corfu then pick this and you won't be disappointed. We'd just like to say a big thanks to the owners Julie & Tom and Lorraine & her team for making sure we had an wonderful time.

Sea views do not come much better than from this villa. 'The Lookout' is situated perfectly, above the clear azure seas where waves can be heard lapping the shores below. Enjoy extraordinary bird's eye views of the rugged cliffs that make up this coastline, then gaze onwards across unspoilt beaches to the turquoise bays of Paleokastritsa. Lying In the waters immediately to the front of the villa is the small, wild uninhabited island of Koliviri above which birds are seen soaring on the warm thermals.

Set on the west coast of Corfu, 'The Lookout' is a villa designed to ensure that the amazing panoramas are never further than a glimpse away. The extensive terraces wrap around this fabulous property to compliment the bay putting you at one with the lovely surroundings, the inviting pool appearing as part of the sea below. Approached through an ancient private olive grove the villa offers total peace and privacy and is both a beautiful and unique location for your holiday or other special occasion.

Looking from the villa towards Paleokasrtrisa the beaches along this part of the Corfu coastline have been voted as being high in the Top 10 Best Beach locations in Greece. The main beaches of Paleokastrisa can be reached by car in around 15 minutes as can the pebbly beach at Liapades. The Blue Flag beach at Ermones is 10 minutes drive and just a few minutes further are the extensive sands of the west coast beaches of Glyfada, Pelekas and Agios Gordios. Because the sand slopes gently into the water here these beaches are considered to be very safe and are therefore popular with families .

Hidden away just south of 'The Lookout' is a beach set in a picture perfect horseshoe bay. The beach is called 'Yali' and is near enough to the villa that it can be reached by foot .The view from above makes 'Yali' an appealing prospect but the track going down towards this beach narrows and becomes very steep making the final descent an adventure that can only be recommended for the most fit and determined.

Liapades is located in a deep-cut bay, its view out to sea fringed by forested hillsides, which focus your gaze along the Paleokastritsa coastline. Few buildings are in sight, so you can hardly tell which century you are in. The big fun of Liapades is hiring an outboard motor boat and heading south along the coastline where 'The Lookout' stands. The land, where it meets the sea, is sheer and precipitous as far as Ermones with fine beaches and caves in between but few of these are accessible even on foot, which makes a sea-bourne exploration an exciting proposition.

The first beach you pass is Rovinia, made famous by Emma Tennant's book 'A House in Corfu' and worth a visit, but since it has an access road we suggest you leave this one to explore by car later and head on in your boat to Limni, a spectacular double-sided beach which links a small promontory with the coast. The strand is pebble, but the sea is crystal-clear. Further along the coastline, beaches of beautiful golden sand, interspersed by sheer hillsides blanketed in a patchwork of green and by twisted rock formations and sea-caves, are tucked under high cliffs.

If you like the idea of a secluded inaccessible beach with glorious sands but prefer someone else to skipper the boat we suggest you book one of the boats from Paleokastrisa that stop off for the day at Paradise beach, provide a BBQ, and then take you and your party back in the late afternoon. Great fun!

It would be a shame to leave Corfu having not explored the Venetian influenced architecture, cobbled streets, boutiques, restaurants and historical sites of the island's capital, Corfu Town which is now a world heritage site. Alternatively, you may like to play a round of golf at the respected 18 hole Championship course near Ermones or have a splash around at the Aqualand Water Park. All of these attractions are very close-by. To finish the day why not treat yourself to a hearty grill at the friendly taverna in Giannades village square or sit out with the locals enjoying a drink at the Cafe Odeon .

'A day not on Corfu is a day wasted'- from Emma Tennant's book 'A house in Corfu'
