Nestled at the meeting of three major rivers – the Ottawa River, the Gatineau River, and the Rideau River – Canada’s capital city has 19th century architecture and outdoor landscapes made to charm any visitor.
The most popular site in Ottawa is the Rideau Canal, which cuts through the heart of the region. Many residents and tourists can be seen having picnics or relaxing on an afternoon break near the canal. In the winter, when this massive body of streaming water is completely frozen over, the canal transforms into the world’s largest ice skating rink. This alone is a sight enough to make the trip.
Also Gatineau Park is another park reflecting nature beauty which will takes one’s breath away. The Park is huge. The Pink Lake hike is a must see. This park is wonderful with unique plants and wildlife,, one can do some cycling, camping hiking giving peaceful and tranquility to one’s life one can also walk around Pink Lake, taking about 20 minutes to go around the lake. Furthermore, if one wants to be a bit more adventurous, , the Skyline trail has excellent views especially spectacular in the fall. The Mackenzie estate (Past Prime Minister of Canada) is worth the visit. Moreover, take one's canoe to Meech Lake. (Start at trail 40 and paddle North - there's a cool stream to paddle away. The terrain is very varied, views are great, the trails are well marked, getting there by car is a breeze, and parking facility offers easy access and not expensive. Some of the trails are challenging, and involve a lot of climbing, fording streams, and so on. But some of the trails are easy to do in walking shoes, so there really is something for everyone. The most beautiful time of the year is in the fall. Leaves turn color and it is the most beautiful scene. One may walk for hours and children may be thrilled to enjoy playing in the leaves. Even during winter and summer for people who like to bike in the summer and snow shoe and cross country skilling in the winter with marked trail by the City of Gatineau. Absolutely beautiful!
