Tranquil 5 bedroom villa with stunning views in rural French village

Updated: 01-Aug-2016
5 bedroom , 2 bathrooms, Sleeps 10

This recently refurbished five bedroom villa is located in the picturesque medieval village of Duilhac-Sous-Peyrepertuse, just below France's largest Cathar Castle ruin. The house is situated on the edge of the tranquil village and boasts stunning views across the hills, which can be enjoyed from one of the three terraces. The spacious ground floor living space includes a large modern open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge. On the first floor there are three double bedrooms (two with breathtaking views and one with access to a private terrace) and one bedroom with bunk beds. There are also two modern bathrooms. The main terrace has dining furniture, a pergola and a BBQ - perfect for al fresco dining on warm summer evenings. Duilhac is a charming village with lots of character and has a boulangerie/epicerie, two restaurants, a wine cave and two cafes. You are also a walk or short drive away from the crystal clear waters of the River Verdouble - a stunning swimming spot.

fabulous holidays

  • 5 of 5

Little French village is a perfect place for dream holiday for whole family as well as for couple.

The house is very spacious and has all the features you may possibly need. Fully equipped kitchen, grill tv, broadband, dvd, books and cabinet full of board games – if you like stay indoors.

There is much more out there – beautiful „ les cascades” nearby, where you can swim wild in really crystal clear water , many medieval castles around situated high in the mountains – the views are unbelievably beautiful.

Also some good restaurants serving proper french cuisine...

It is a good idea to rent a car as you can go to sea cost (only an hour drive) and swim in warm Mediterranean sea. Pop in to one of many wine yards on the way back and enjoy rest of the evening tasting your purchase on the large terrace contemplating stunning views.

A fantastic family holiday destination

  • 5 of 5

Having repeatedly visited this beautiful house in a stunning setting, I have no hesitation in recommending it to others. The house meets all practical needs (of which we have many - three children under three) and offers all the comforts of home. The many bedrooms and flexible sleeping options have allowed us to holiday comfortably with extended friends and family, creating lasting memories. We have eaten many dinners on the beautiful terrace soaking up the evening sun and the spectacular views, indulging in local wine and cheese. There is something very special about this lovely property captured perfectly by the moment you open the shutters in the morning, climb back into bed and look out at the surrounding mountains whilst enjoying a cup of coffee and a pain au chocolate from the local boulangerie. Whilst the house itself offers so much, to complete our holidays we have also taken advantage of trips to the beach, visits to castles and, our personal favourite, dipping in the cascades. We fully intend to return and take further advantage of this fantastic holiday destination.
