I simply can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was with this apartment. From the first contact to our goodbyes last Sunday, everything was simply top notch! I strongly recommend this property for anyone planning a visit to New York City!
Needed a perfect place to take my Mom for her 70th B-Day, and I simply could not have made a better choice. Mr. Wick was spot on in all his efforts. He met me at my taxi upon arrival and told me everything I needed to know about getting around and the apartment itself. The apartment is perfectly set up and VERY comfortable. You have EVERYTHING you need. Loved the fact the subway was so close by, plus a very nice supermarket, McDonalds (for those quick snack needs), and tons of really nice restaurants if you don't want to go all the way back downtown.
The apartment was so incredibly quiet at night it was frankly unbelievable. After staying in downtown Manhattan for years at hotels, I will NEVER go anywhere but here from now on. Trust me, you will love this place and the MANY conviences. Not to mention the VERY fair price. You can be from the apartment to Time Square in around 15 minutes, so trust me, this place is VERY accessible. Also, you are right on the #1 subway line which pretty much takes you anywhere you want to go in Manhattan. Also, LOVE how safe the neighborhood was. My Mom and I walked around in the evenings nightly to go to dinner after dark and it was no problem at all.
On our last morning, Mr. Wick arranged a taxi for us and even sat outside on the front stoop with us chatting until our taxi arrived. Simply put, if you want a perfect place to stay for your New York getaway, look no further! I almost hate to give my honest review as you will feel the same way I do and want to keep the place to yourself! : )

Comfort and friendliness in Upper Manhattan
Myself and my Mother spent six wonderful days at Ray's comfortable spacious and well located brownstone apartment. The area has everything...its predominantly Hispanic with a mix of students from the nearby Columbia University...everybody is so friendly ..chatting and smiling outside busy shops and cafes...we never felt anything other than safe walking around the area both a night time and during the day...the location is as Ray had said a short subway ride from downtown Manhattan so essentially you have the best of both worlds and always have the retreat and comfort of returning to your apartment after a busy day shopping or sightseeing around the city...I've stayed in a hotel downtown before but never again...the sense of living in a living breathing community is more enriching and leaves one with greater sense of having experienced a city. The local Grange restaurant has to be visited (Great Burgers and fine craft beer with lovely friendly staff) ..Cafe was our daily breakfast haunt (simple delicious breakfasts and homemade muffins to die for!..great coffee and hot chocolate too and yes, more friendly staff)...nearby River side park is a must..I ran through it each morning and alongside the Hudson River and down to the northern tip of Central park....picturesque and peaceful and safe..General Grants memorial building can be seen near the entrance to the park and is worth a viewing....one evening I went to the Smoke Jazz club (2751 Broadway) where you can enjoy live Jazz and eat good food at same time (be sure to phone and book as it sells out)...So...yes, I would highly recommend this Apartment and will certainly return for more of the same...Ray was a fantastic host ...meeting us at the Apartment showing us around and giving us all the information on the area including a useful map. On our departure he arranged a Cab to JFK and looked after our Bags while we enjoyed our last day in New York...10 out of 10 :)

Wonderful apartment, welcoming host
This apartment was such a lovely spot to come "home" to after a long day of activities. It was very clean and comfortable. It had all of the kitchen utensils and linens we needed. We found Ray to be easy to access and he also had great local tips. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
All good, nothing bad
Lovely apartment in an attractive Brownstone in Hamilton Heights. The owner lives below and is always on call - but we never needed anything. 3 minutes from the Subway and, after 5 stops, you can chnage to an Express train so you can get anywhere pretty quickly. Plenty of shops, take aways, restaurants on Broadway and Amsterdam. The area is largely Dominican and has a chilled vibe. Very quiet too. I'd definitely go back.
Live like a New Yorker
We loved this apartment. Clean and quiet and in a community setting. We were tourists but felt part of this setting where life was lived on the street. We were close to facilities - shops, cafes, restaurants and to the subway line to downtown Manhattan and tourist venues. Our host Ray was so helpful with local information and ensuring that everything in the apartment met our expectations. If only for a few days I got to experience New York and in a brownstone. Wonderful. I would love to come back for an extended stay in this apartment. So comfortable with tasteful decor and lovely art work to contribute to the ambiance. Thank you Ray.
First new York holiday
Very nice apartment, owner Ray on the ball with advice etc and made us very welcome. Nice bar loft142 just a few minutes away also very good Japanese oyster bar close by. We had a two week holiday so were able to spend time in the apartment which was very comfortable, not sure about American TV though. Overall experience in New York was very friendly and helpful people and would recommend the property and area to friends and family. Thanks Ray for helping us have a very memorable holiday.
My family of three (including a teenage daughter) all stayed in Rays apartment for five nights over the Summer Holidays. None of us have a negative comment to say about it. It was clean, comfortable and airy and had everything we needed from basics such as toilet roll to pots and pans, and wifi to air con. As other reviews state, it is literally a three minute walk to the subway, supermarket and laundrette and is in a safe neighbourhood. New York is hot in the summer and it was lovely to come back to the apartment and have the space to move around freely, remove ourselves from the hustle and bustle and feel like we were in a home from home. A cramped, noisy hotel room would not have fitted the bill at all! Ray met us on arrival and gave us all the information we needed on the apartment and getting around and then left us to our own devices, but was always on hand if needed. He organised our taxi back to the airport and was the perfect host - thank you! As for the area, it truly is 24/7 and if you want to use the laundry, eat or have your hair cut at midnight you can. Within the three minute walk were all the usual fast food eateries such as Mcdonalds. Burger King Dunkin Donuts, Cafe-deli's etc and various restaurants of which i'm sad to report we didn't use as chose to eat in instead and chill out from the long hot days. We purchased a Metro card at the subway (one card can have four people on it) but chose to top up as we went rather than buy unlimited cards each. This suited us as we are big walkers and only used the card to get Downtown and back, so would not have benefitted from the unlimited travel option. It took roughly 35 mins to get to the Times Square area and about 50 mins to Battery Park for the Staten Island Ferry/Liberty. In our four days we saw all the major tourist sites: hired bikes in Central Park, The Skyline, Statue of Liberty etc , spent lots of money (New York is expensive) but thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to anyone else and would not hesitate to return.. Go and enjoy!
From the Owner
“This private, full-floor apartment is located in a private Owner occupied townhouse, not a large anonymous apartment building. Although you will be self-sufficient in your apartment, the Owner is always available to you for whatever you may need during your stay: tips on sites and getting around NYC, arranging taxi service, emergency repairs, restaurant advice. Your family can be assured of privacy, safety, cleanliness and convenience. The neighborhood is served by 5 Subways with the nearest only a 2 block, 2 minute walk.
