About this property

Beautifully renovated stone house with a pool

This wonderful south facing house situated in the tiny village of La Bastide D'Engras has a beautiful view over the valley. It is secluded within its own courtyard with the swimming pool a few steps from the living area.
The village itself is dominated by a medieval chateau. It is basically a farming community with a post office and a mairie and a bread van that comes through every morning. There is a small food market every Tuesday morning. Less than 2 km. away is St. Laurent La Vernede which has a bakery and a small general store. St. Quentin la Poterie, famous for its community of potters also has a butcher, a supermarket and many bakeries. There are several excellent and reasonable restaurants in the area. Tennis and golf are easily available and there are breathtaking walks through the pine forests, vineyards and lavender and sunflower fields.

Golf: There is a very pretty golf course near Uzes - very relaxed with the possibility of renting clubs. There is a lady's and men's set of clubs in the house

Tennis: There is a tennis court in the next village which our guests are entitled to use. There are tennis racquets in the house

Cycling: You can rent bicycles in the nearby village of St. Quentin la Poterie

Extremely helpful owner with great communication throughout. The property…well it’s hard to fault really. Extremely relaxing, very comfortable, equipped with everything we needed. Pool is fabulous. If you already know the area, then you’ll know it’s a wealth of beautiful villages and towns.

Fantastic, relaxing holidays
Our stay in Bastide d'Engras was simply wonderful. The house is large, lovely and extremely well-equipped. The kitchen has anything you may ever need to cook 10-course meals, the bedrooms are very sweet and cozy. Everything is very clean and well-kept. One of the highlights is the huge swimming-pool where our children spent about 90% of their time. The area is also great for jogging/walking/biking, a large forest can be reached by foot. Bastide d'Engras itself is a rather small village, but plenty of places to visit are close, such as Uzès, Nîmes and the Pont du Gard. We spent two beautiful weeks there and hope to return.

Highly recommended
Three of us stayed for ten days, and would happily have stayed much longer. The property is beautiful, well-appointed and feels like a proper home. The village is attractive and easy to reach from Marseilles, Nîmes and Avignon. The helpful folder provided by Jenny and Peter lists plenty to do, see and eat in the area. Missing it already...!

Wonderful experience!
Our extended family holiday was a great exerience this year because the Bastide d'Engras house is a lovely family home in a 'Beau village'. We couldn't have wished for better accommodation with 3 bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen and a lovely swimming pool. The terrace enabled us to BBQ, watch the swallows dipping and diving, sunbathe privately and see the views across the valley beyond.

Why they chose this property

We chose this wonderful property because it is in a picturesque village with great views and is close enough to the beautiful town of Uzes to be very practical.

What makes this property unique

We love the house for its cathedral ceiling, its feeling of space and the pretty planted courtyard, and of course, the pool
