Fabulous gite in a lovely location.
We enjoyed a great week in this lovely gite, well equipped and very comfortable. The location is beautifully rural, yet convenient to Sarlat and so many things to do. Local shops etc only a short drive. Also the wonderful Black Duck restaurant a two minute walk away. Spending a peaceful evening sitting outside the gite was idyllic and so very relaxing. The added bonus was the wonderful host Diane (and Florette) next door. Whilst being unobtrusive she was friendly, great chat and eager to help in anyway. We will definitely return.

Lovely quiet spot from which to explore the area.
Delighted with the property, it comes complete with everything you could possibly need. It is situated in a lovely sunny, shelterd spot. Diane is very welcoming and is next door should you require anything, but is not intrusive. Floret, her dog is an absolute treasure, and was a bonus for us, as we had left our dog back in the UK. A gentle stroll down the lane brings you to the Black Duck, a French Irish pub/resturant, great food and atmosphere. Would recommend this gite to anyone.

Lovely gite and helpful owner!
We had a great time in this lovely rural setting. It's in easy reach of the lake, cycling from Sarlat and Canoing on the dordogne. lovely meal up the road in the Black Duck. We managed a little sight seeing too as much as can be expected with young boys but they had plenty to do and the gite has wifi to dvd etc which was handy while we prepared food etc. thanks Diane for all your help and such a warm welcome! An excellent gite in a wonderful setting
The property was in an excellent setting, peaceful, easy for going on walks, it was spotless and there was everything you required for a homeaway holiday especially when you are travelling on your own or family. The host was excellent, very caring and knowledgeable of the area. I loved the church bells and there was a restaurant nearby with excellent food. You do need a car for the area. I would recommend this gite .

About the host

Host profile image
I am Diane and I live in a thirteenth century Manor house with my beautiful, affectionate and friendly border collie, Florette.

I am originally from the North-West of England, but I’ve been living and working in various countries and in France since 2000.

After seven years of giving English lessons to students at the University of La Rochelle, I decided that my heart belonged to the French countryside, and so began my long search for a traditional French house with character, history and charm. I finally moved to Le Manoir in Carlucet in 2007.

Why they chose this property

I have been very lucky to have lived and worked in some stunning places around the world, including Canada, the USA, Australia and the Republic of Ireland, and my aim has always been to restore an old house, using its history to renovate with the utmost integrity. I am now the proud owner of a fully-restored thirteenth century Manoir, complete with original medieval beams, original stone walls created using wattle and daub, enormous fire-places and a vaulted cellar.
The gite is located within the grounds of the medieval Manoir, yet is totally independent, and enjoys the same spectacular views of the valley. The gite is accessed via two medieval stone towers at the entrance. I

What makes this property unique

The gite is in a small hamlet, surrounded by fields and is calm and tranquil. However, the unique feature is that there is a pub/restaurant just a two minute walk from the gite which serves food typical of the area - so, after travelling to get here, you can relax in the restaurant.
