About the property

Beautiful Georgian town house sleeping 14 in 7 bedrooms. TripAdvisor rated 5/5.

Rennie House has been sympathetically designed combining Georgian period charm with contemporary comfort, style and safety. Rated 5/5 with a certificate of excellence on T r i p A d v i s o r. Seven elegant bedrooms sleeping 14 people, provides flexible accommodation for groups of friends, families and corporate events. The dining room with mellow Bath stone walls and wood panelling, seats 14 comfortably around a huge dining table. The adjoining spacious kitchen is superbly equipped for enthusiastic cooks or just a great place for making a cup of late night cocoa. The south facing first floor sitting room with delightful views over Bath to the green hills beyond, is the perfect place to relax on big cosy sofas after a day sightseeing or shopping. There are three luxurious bathrooms, so no long waits for a bath. Two bathrooms have huge double ended baths and big walk in showers, the third is a funky wet room with shower and WC. A utility room with washer/dryer and WC adds to the convenience of the house. The pretty courtyard garden is perfect for BBQ and summer drinks.

More About Rennie House: built from the famous golden Bath stone, Rennie House is comfortable, warm and quiet while being very close to the centre of town. The south facing house is spread over five floors with light streaming in through large sash windows looking out across the town to the hills beyond. There are seven bedrooms, two singles and five with twin or super king beds. One of these also has a single bed. Each bedroom has a distinctive character with subtle colour schemes and wallpapers as the backdrop to a charming mix of vintage and contemporary furniture. There is ample hanging and storage space and good mirrors in every bedroom. Beds are handmade by a traditional English company. Goose down duvets and crisp Egyptian cotton sheets guarantee a relaxing night of comfort and luxury. Individual toiletries are provided for each guest. The house features original art and if you fall in love with any of the pictures they can be bought from the artist. Parking is provided.

Not just a rental house, but a whole holiday: At the centre of Rennie House is the beautiful dining room with Bath stone walls, wood panelling and a black Victorian cooking range creating a wonderful, comfortable atmosphere for relaxed meals around the huge oak table seating fourteen. Lounge on a pew from a Devon church and watch others whip up a banquet in the fabulous black wood kitchen with a range cooker, American fridge freezer and two dishwashers to cut down on drudgery. If you want food delivered, meals provided or a chef to cook for you, anything can be arranged (for additional charge). If you would like suggestions for activities, we can book classes in arts and crafts, cookery, wine tasting and jewellery making, in the town or around the dining table at Rennie House (for additional charge). Booking for the theatre, restaurants and entertainments can be arranged too (for additional charge). With Bath's full calendar of literary, music, film and food festivals, vintage and the Christmas markets, heritage museums and the Theatre Royal, you will never be short of things to see and do.

Out and about in Bath: Rennie House, built in 1768 when Georgian Bath was being developed, is a perfect example of a five storey Georgian town house. Jane Austen's parents were married in St Stephen's church Walcot, a few hundred yards from the house. Today Walcot is famous for art galleries, design and antique furniture shops, groovy cafes and vintage shops. On Saturday, browse in the antique market after brunch at Ben's cafe then walk a little further down Walcot and you are in the centre of Bath with its Roman Baths, intriguing individual shops and numerous tourist attractions. Nowhere is far to walk in Bath. Criss-cross the town dip in and out of the shops and marvel at the beautiful yellow Bath stone Georgian terraces and crescents. You can swim in outside heated pool on the roof of the Thermae Spa in the natural warm waters which gave Bath its name. If you fancy a taste of the country, take a boat trip through fields to Bathampton Mill for a drink and a meal. Nowhere offers more than Bath

About Sam Carter

I live in Bath with my wonderful wife and my two fantastic children. Rennie House and Benson Cottage are a family run business. My mum did all the interior design of both houses. I run the business. Because it is a family run business I really do care about the houses and our guests having a fantastic time.

Why Sam Carter chose Bath & North East Somerset

Rennie House is a beautiful Georgian townhouse from 1768. My mum did an amazing job designing the interior and it's simply wonderful to spend time in it. It is perfectly located in Bath city centre and only 10 minutes walk to all major attractions - Roman Bath, Bath Abbey, Thermae Spa. It's only 5 mins walk to restaurants and bars.

What makes this house unique

There is no city more beautiful than Bath. It is unique and a truly wonderful place to stay.

The house has five floors with many stairs. People with mobility difficulties can stay in two bedrooms on the ground floor, where the dining room, kitchen and a large bathroom are down one flight of stairs and the sitting room up two short flights. These rooms would be suitable for elderly people who can manage some stairs. Care needs to be taken with very small children on the many stairs. The steep stone steps to the garden are not suitable for people with mobility difficulties or very small children.

A really lovely house, brilliantly located

  • 5 of 5

We booked the house to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. We were 11 in total staying and we had a further 6 guests join us for dinner on the Saturday night. The house was perfect, and everything was made easy through Sam the owners helpful correspondence and the house being excellently equipped and lovely.

An Excellent Weekend All Round

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property in a great location for visiting Bath. Everything we needed was provided – including a welcome pack of tea, bread etc. Sam made the whole experience smooth and stress-free, from initial enquiry right up to vacating the property, also sending us a list of options for places to visit and eat out beforehand. This was a 50 year reunion of 7 university mates and wives, and I have had so many kind accolades from them all for choosing this place. A very happy experience all round. Thank you Sam and Rennie House.

Great house, great location

  • 5 of 5

We were in a party of 12 who stayed in the house.

The location is excellent. A short walk takes you into the centre of Bath and it's main tourist attractions.

We were provided with a parking permit that allowed us to park close to the house. The parking is on steep streets so you'll get some exercise even going to and from your car!

The exterior is a typical Bath town house and lis very attractive. The interior is equally lovely, clean and well furnished. Our bedroom was very comfortable. There is a relaxing lounge, a spacious and very well equipped kitchen and a very sociable dining area. The number of bathrooms is adequate, one with an interesting layout of a bath in the centre of the room.

Highly recommended.

An experience to remember!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, brother in law and I rented Rennie House through the Christmas period and took away 11 other members of our family for a few days for some well earned rest after the festivities.

We came across it purely by accident on the internet after an exhaustive search trying to find somewhere to house us all and decided to book it solely on the pictures posted. We were amazed by how easy and quick it all was - everything was done via telephone and email and no question was too much trouble to answer.

On arrival, first job was to explore everything that the house has to offer and it's only then that it becomes obvious that the pictures really do not do it justice!! Elegantly decorated and furnished, the house offers pure luxury in every room, while still maintaining a very homely feel. With children in our party we were a little concerned that the house might be a little to unliveable, but it couldn't have been further from the truth!! It really doesn't feel like the kind of house you have to be scared to sit down in, it just feels like home, and a lot of thought has obviously gone into making it exactly that way.

The huge dining table very quickly became the hub of the home. While the family cooks got busy in the exceptionally well equipped open plan style kitchen/ dining room, the rest of the adults drank and chatted at the table while the kids played some of the many board games provided. Once fed, the two dishwashers took the full strain of clearing up after 14 people. Heaven!!

All three bathrooms were beautifully done, with the one on the second floor with the roll top bath and large shower cubicle being fought over most.

The lounge provided more than enough space and very comfortable seating for our entire mob to enjoy relaxing evenings, then off to a large bed complete with crisp white linen.

The house is only a 10 minute walk from the city centre, but it takes you past the most interesting and varied independant stores and boutiques along the way, including the glass making workshop and craft making centre.

I would thoroughly recommend Rennie House to anyone and I can honestly say that the only critisism that I could pass is the lack of front door keys. We only had one, so arranging for the person with the key to be the first back when we all went out was tricky, but we managed!

We're already looking at booking again for next Christmas and I have a feeling we'll have to be quick to make sure no-one else snaps it up!!
