Glenbardie Bothy, originally the stables for Glenbardie House, sits at the rear of the property. It now is a three bedroomed cottage and nestles at the foot of the oak covered Craigendarroch Hill.
The ground floor, with underfloor central heating, has an open plan well equipped kitchen, dining and living area with a grey slate floor. French windows lead on to a patio, which faces south. There is a carpeted master bedroom with a king sized bed, which has an ensuite bathroom. A utility room is found off the kitchen with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. The cottage boasts a stove for added warmth but more to give atmosphere as it is particularly well insulated.
A locally handcrafted stairway, with a window looking onto the hill, leads to the first floor, which has wooden flooring and electric central heating. There are two bedrooms, one double one with a king size bed and a twin bedded room. There is a shared shower room with a velux window looking onto the oaks.
Glenbardie House and Glenbardie Bothy are the perfect places to stay to explore Royal Deeside, the Cairngorm National Park and the Highlands. Each with its own garden and driveway, they sit within a one acre walled property at the foot of the oak covered Craigendarroch Hill on just 600 metres from the centre of the Victorian market town of Ballater. Both houses offer a peaceful retreat, yet local amenities are just a short walk away.
Short stays are considered on application, but they do attract a higher rate.
Glenbardie House sleeps 12 people and Glenbardie Bothy, six people. A cot is also available at Glenbardie House. One dog is permitted in both houses. Whilst Glenbardie Bothy is wheel chair friendly, Glenbardie House is not, as there are many steps both outside and inside the house. However, it does have a ground floor bedroom. The houses are comfortably furnished and well equipped, with Sky Sports package, offer Wifi, garden furniture and BBQ. Both houses are non smoking.
NB - Shorter stays are considered. The cost of these stays is dependent on the number of days requested and whether or not a weekend is involved.
Excellent property. Great location. We will definitely return.
Just got back from our stay at Glenbardie Bothy and all I can say is how amazing this place is. The location is perfect, the rooms were immaculate and nicely decorated, the living area spacious & the beds extremely comfortable.
I would love to go back! Please book this accommodation; you will not be disappointed!!
Just returned from another great week spent at Glenbardie Bothy, as usual both the booking process and stay were faultless. The housekeeper had provided a few treats and essentials on our arrival and a card welcoming us back was most appreciated. The surrounding area is fantastic especially in Autumn and despite us leaving (and returning to) the North West of England in pouring rain our week was mainly dry and remarkably rain free. The location of the house is excellent, as is the quality of the accommodation on offer, its well furnished, well equipped with plenty of hot water for our family and even the broadband is pretty good! There is a log burner (free logs in the garden) and a well equipped kitchen and laundry room. There are plenty of small shops, coffee shops & and few restaurants in Ballater centre which is a 5 minute walk from the house, further afield the lovely small town of Braemar is approx. 15 miles to the West, Aberdeen in about 1 1/2 hours to the East for larger stores and cinemas and the Perthshire towns of Blairgowrie and Pitlochry are around 1 and 1 1/2 hours respectively. Having stayed in many holiday cottages and many in Scotland I have to say that Glenbardie is the best. This is a property that puts quality and guests comfort before profit and is obviously lovingly cared for and maintained, if you ever consider selling it let us know!
