Idyllic location with everything you need
We stayed in the one bedroomed cottage in September 2020 and had such a lovely time we didn’t want to leave.
The location is ideal, especially in current Covid times. You can choose to stay at the cottage and enjoy the sun, watch (and feed) the wildlife, use the boat and canoe for local excursions and have meals on the balcony, but you need to enjoy the area too. Both cottages have decking with sun loungers (not obvious from the pics) and plunge pools - very refreshing! It’s so tempting you have to wrench yourself away to do other activities. But Dalyan is only a short bike ride or 30 minute walk away too.
The kitchen/lounge area is very light and spacious with everything you need including full oven and microwave, plenty of crockery and utensils, plus a washer. Ants have been mentioned in previous reviews & yes you will encounter them unless you take simple precautions i.e. don’t leave out any food, especially sweet things on the work surfaces and make sure to keep food off the floor.
The bedroom is a good size with loads of wardrobe space. The bed was comfortable and no insects there! There’s no air conditioning, which you may need to factor in depending on when you stay. We found the best solution to use the (excellent) large fan and open windows, but keep mosquito screens in place.
Bathroom is clean and modern with a good shower.
Must mention the Yalicapkini restaurant, which is delightful and only 100yds down the ‘road’. We had some lovely breakfasts (opens 10am) and a few evening meals. The owners and staff are lovely, and nothing is too much trouble. The dogs are friendly, especially new arrival ‘un bach’, although he may not be little for too long!
The bikes were a bit old but serviceable to ride into Dalyan (about 10 mins). It was useful to take a light /torch for return journeys in the dark. We hired bikes for trips further afield.
Marina at the management company was extremely helpful before and during our trip, answering all queries promptly. We used the private transfer service offered, which was excellent from Tolga and his nephew meeting us on arrival to delivering us and our luggage to the doorstep and return.
Waking up in the morning to be able to wander onto the balcony and feed the turtles (by hand) was something to treasure.
Should you stay here? Definitely YES if you like very rustic locations, wildlife and privacy. No if you need air conditioning; can’t handle a few ants or need to be near noisy bars and lots of shops
