About this property

Spacious coastal village home with great views, garden and terrace

A comfortable, airy and spacious detached four bedroom family home, surrounded by private gardens and open fields, and with panoramic views over open countryside towards heritage coastline. Located on the outskirts of the coastal village of Porthtowan, with its fantastic blue flag, surfing and family beach, and many village amenities.

The house was rebuilt in 2015 by the owners, whose family has lived on the site for over 40 years. The large L-shaped open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is generously proportioned, light and spacious, with vaulted ceilings and polished concrete floors. (Underfloor heating ensures comfort in cooler weather.) 2 sets of patio doors open onto a large south-west facing deck and gravel garden, with open fields and complete privacy beyond. The skies are enormous, and the sunsets often spectacular.

The fully-equipped kitchen has an electric range cooker with double oven and induction hob, an American-style fridge freezer, a dishwasher, and masses of storage and preparation space, with slate worktops. The dining area comfortably accommodates 8-9 people (more with the use of a table extension), and links to the large outdoor deck with outdoor dining table and seating, looking out over open fields and with sea glimpses beyond. The lounge area has comfortable sofas, a TV and DVD, and a large log burner, and overlooks the gravel garden and open fields, again south-west facing. There is a music system (bluetooth, CD, digital and FM radio), and unlimited free wifi.

There are three bedrooms on the ground floor: a double, overlooking lawned gardens with views out to St Agnes Beacon, a twin room looking out over the rear gravel garden, and a vaulted room with 3 ft bunk beds, looking out over the garden towards the Beacon. All have ample storage space. The ground floor bedrooms all have oak floors. A large family bathroom, with freestanding bath, separate large shower, large basin and WC, is also located on the ground floor, along with a cloakroom/utility room with a further WC and basin, washing machine and tumble dryer.

Upstairs, the extremely large master bedroom runs across the whole of the first floor. With panoramic views on 3 sides to St Agnes Beacon, Carn Brea and the coast, this room has a kingsize bed. An additional child's bed (large daybed with memory foam mattress topper) is available if required, and there is also plenty of room for a travel cot in addition to these. This room has a further TV and DVD. An ensuite provides a bath, shower, basin and WC.

All electricity, heating and services are included. Hot water is provided by solar thermal panels, with a boiler providing additional hot water if required. There is an outside tap and large trug for wetsuit washing, and a washing line available to hang these (and other washing) on. Off-street parking for 2 cars.

In addition to its fantastic beach, the village of Porthtowan boasts a village store and post office, eateries including the 'Blue' beach bar and bistro, a café and ice cream parlour, a beach shop, surf shop, car park and toilets and a children's play park. The beach is approximately 1.4km from the house, and the coast path even closer. The picturesque village of St Agnes, with its pretty cove and good range of shops, pubs and restaurants, is just 5 minutes' drive away. The cathedral city of Truro is 20 minutes' drive, and Falmouth, Penzance, St Ives and Newquay are also all within easy reach (30-45 minutes).

Wonderful amazing house
We had a superb time, we walked to the gorgeous local beach. The owner looked after us incredibly and was kind, responsive and helpful. Her house is beautiful and we loved every moment there, the design and furniture were superb and it was also very functional. We loved the large spacious rooms.
