Five, Grade II listed stone cottages, each one sympathetically renovated to an extremely high standard with all the modern amenities you would expect, whilst retaining the charm of an 18th century building.

The accommodation is reverse-level, allowing the open-plan living space to be flooded with sunlight and provide the best views of the sea. Quality and style exist throughout this spacious barn; Egyptian cotton sheets, fluffy towels, rain showers with Philip Stark and Duravit sanitary ware. Free BT infinity broadband available.

The barns are beautifully furnished with vintage finds nestled alongside contemporary colours and state of the art technology. They are centrally heated and have a wood burner, perfect for those winter evenings.

Outside there is a decked area with a BBQ and your own private garden, perfect for watching the sun go down with a glass of wine.

Portmellon beach is about 800m away.

Best cottage ever

I stayed here for the NY period and was very impressed. Not only was the cottage beautiful, well laid out and very comfortable, the service was fantastic.

We felt very welcome and 'at-home', which made for a very relaxing stay.

The little touches and welcome pack was very well received - what a special treat.

My only piece of feedback was that since we were planning on doing a lot of home cooking (and drinking) we struggled a little with the fridge size, but it did not ruin our stay at all.

Beautifully place & owners have gone extra mile

We stayed in Barn 1 for two weeks in August and had a great time. The barns are set in a beautiful quiet location, with fields on all sides. Its great for kids (& adults) to play outside, or go and wander up the paths around, which are full of butterflys and other wildlife. The Barns are really nicely done - modern style, which suited us, and have things we have at home but many older places in Cornwall still don't have, like free wi-fi, and an LCD TV with Freesat and a USB socket.

The 'welcome pack' was far better than expected, all the food is lovely and from the posh farm shop at Heligans - the bottle of CamelValley wine is gorgeous (and very expensive), not to mention their home made banana & chocolate cake which was so big it lasted us a week.

The only things to be aware of I think are, though it looks on the map like you can walk into Mevagissey easily from the Barns, its a fair old trek, and up some very big inclines. We used to drive to the top of the lane, and walk from there. Also, we had a two year old with us, and the outside grassed areas aren't totally safe for toddlers to be left to play on their own - the owners have done a lot, but due to the nature of the place, it's not possible for it to be totally enclosed.

The biggest thing though is that we could tell the owners really cared about our stay - they attended to every request we had, and even posted us a parcel of some small things we had left behind by accident when we left. They’ve done a fab job of restoring the barns, and we wish them every success with their venture. I only hope the place doesn’t get TOO popular so we can’t get back there.

Wunderschöne Landschaft, schöne Wohnung

3 Wochen waren wir mit 3 Personen in Barn 4 eingemietet. Die Wohnung ist noch ziemlich neu, die daneben liegende Wohnung bisher noch nicht bezugsfertig.

Uns hat es unglaublich gut gefallen, die Vermieter, die im Herrenhaus mit auf dem Grundstück leben, sind überaus hilfsbereit und freundlich und zurückhaltend. Die in mehrere Ferienwohnungen umgebaute ehemalige Scheune ist sehr modern renoviert. Internet steht zur Verfügung, ein Geschirrspüler, eine Kombination aus Waschmaschine/Trockner (trocknet leider viel zu heiß und ruiniert empfindliche Kleidung), Kühlschrank, Backofen, Mikrowelle. Toller Fernseher, jedoch sind keine deutschen Programme verfügbar. Im Erdgeschoß liegen die beiden Schlafzimmer mit sehr guten Betten, eines hat ein angeschlossenes Bad mit Regenschauerdusche (Vorsicht: Abfluß fasst die Menge des Wassers nicht, wenn man voll aufdreht, so dass auch der Teppichboden des nebenliegenden Schlafzimmers schnell durchnäßt wird).

Auf der schönen Terrasse haben wir oft gesessen, das Wetter war wundervoll.

Unglaublich: Die vielen Tiere, Fasane marschieren auf dem ganzen Grundstück umher, Füchse, Hasen und allerlei Getier sind auf den umgebenden Wiesen wunderbar zu beobachten.

Wir würden sehr gerne wiederkommen, befürchten aber, dass die Ruhe vorbei ist, wenn die nebenliegende Wohnung fertig ist: Leider entspricht der Standard der Schalldämmung nicht im mindesten deutschen Richtwerten. Es war völlig problemlos möglich, sich vom Bett aus im Erdgeschoss mit Personen, die sich im Wohnraum darüber befanden, zu unterhalten. Eine Holzbalkendecke überträgt jeden Ton. Fernsehen, wenn im Raum darunter bereits einer schläft ist undenkbar. Wir haben uns alle zur gleichen Zeit ins Bett begegen und wenn jemand mal früher aufstand, haben wir uns bemüht, nur ganz leise "zu schleichen", damit die anderen noch weiterschlafen können. Das ist aber das einzige - leider aber sehr bedauerliche - Manko.

Penwarne Manor is flanked by beautiful woods, beaches, country lanes and coastal paths. The nearest beach is Portmellon, a family friendly cove which provides a safe environment for swimmers. It also has a local pub.

The village of Mevagissey is a 10 minute walk away. Featuring numerous shops, cafes and a park. It is also one of the few working harbours in this part of Cornwall.

Within a 10 minute drive are Gorran Haven (another family friendly beach), Hemmick Beach (beautiful and unspoilt) and Caerhays Beach.

Other places to visit within an hour are St. Mawes, Padstow (great for hiring bikes to explore the Camel Trail), Newquay, Wadebridge, Falmouth, Truro and Watergate Bay. We’re ideally situated for exploring both the North and South coasts.

The Eden Project is nearby, around a 20 minute drive away. The Lost Gardens of Helligan (including the excellent Lobbs Farm Shop which sells a wide range of local, organic produce) is only a 10 minute drive away.

Golf: Carlyon Bay Golf Club - The 18-hole championship golf course is one of the finest in Cornwall and is set in breathtaking coastal scenery.

There's an attractive 9-hole approach course, a practice ground, and two putting lawns.

And if you're a novice keen to improve your swing, there are resident professionals to provide tuition.
