New Luxury Chalet in Les Contamines, ski in/out

Overview

Property

Updated: 08-Dec-2016
5 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom, 1 Separate WC, Sleeps 10-11

Chalet Le Bambi is a luxury refurbished chalet completed in Summer 2011. It has 5 spacious bedrooms, a large open-plan living ding area of 50sqm, 3 full size bathrooms and a separate WC. Le Bambi's most exciting feature is its location - 100 meters to the ski lifts and next to an old ski run down to the village enabling you to ski home to the door. Fully refurbished in 2010/11 to the highest standard, Le Bambi has underfloor heating throughout the Chalet and a wood burning stove to ensure cozy evenings in. The views of Mont Joly, Dome de Miage, the village and ski run can be enjoyed from the new floor to ceiling windows. There are double glass doors in the kitchen opening onto a large terrace which can be used for barbeques/outside dining once the weather improves! The chalet is perfect for a large family or two families as it has 3 bedrooms on the top floor and two on the lower floor with the kitchen/living area in between. Safety gates, high chair and cot available.

Newly renovated Ski Chalet: This beautiful chalet, located right by the ski lifts, offers the potential to ski to the door at the end of each day on the slopes. Renovated to the highest standard in 2010/2011 this property is only on the market for a few weeks each year. Located in Les Contamines, a beautiful traditional alpine resort which still retains its village atmosphere, it is just a short drive from the sparking lights of Megeve or the action of Chamonix. Les Contamines is part of the Evasion Ski area - a huge area of approx 445km of pistes. The chalet is a 10 minute walk into the centre of the village and there is a regular free shuttle bus during the winter which stops less than a minutes walk away. The main ski lift is less than a 100meters walk from the front door and it is possible to ski right into the back door of the chalet (off piste route). The chalet has lots of storage for skis and ski equipment and the wood burning stove is perfect to warm hands after a long day on the snow.

Family Friendly Chalet: Chalet Le Bambi is perfect for a family winter ski holiday or a summer time mountain escape. Les Contamines is know as a family friendly resort and caters perfectly for little people in the winter and the summer. The creche is only a 10 minute walk from the chalet and will take children on a weekly basic, half days or full days. The village is perfect for children in the summer with a fantastic park which includes a swimming lake with beach, a natural lake with pedal boats and fishing, tennis courts, crazy golf, trampolines, playground and a great high wire course. There is rock climbing close by, horse riding and biking and the village organises daily activities for children to take part in. The park is only a 15 minute walk from the chalet making it a perfect base.

Yes we had a wonderful stay in your chalet !

Everything was perfect : we appreciated everything and we felt really good in your accommodation.

There is space, which is important for a group : the leaving room, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are top and all is so prettily decorated that it’s a pleasure to be inside.

We could park the cars just in front of the door, we had just to walk a few meters to go skiing.

We spent such a good time during this week that it was really hard to work on Monday when we went back !

Mark is a very nice person and we felt not as customers but really considered : we did also appreciate that.

Twee Bambi theme throughout.

The real horror began when I returned home and tried to get my deposit back. The owner fulfilled only half the transfer instruction, leaving my money stuck in a correspondent account. He ignored an email from his own bank dated March 29 telling him how to fix the problem. This email was shared with me. More than two weeks later he says he will do nothing more so I'm out a large sum of money because a man made a mistake and got mad.

This ordeal has gone on longer than two months and has left me traumatised and embittered with the trustworthiness of strangers.

Owner's Response: We have never had this problem with a deposit return before in five years of rentals and I'm sorry this happened. John's instructions to return the deposit were followed to the letter, the deposit was sent to his correspondent bank with instructions to forward on to John's account in HK. John told me he did not receive the money so I initiated a trace and a complaint with my bank to find this money. After several weeks of pushing we confirmed with two forms of documentation that John's bank have the money. We have provided a trace id and a formal letter from the bank showing John the money is with his correspondent bank and legally they must send on the money or return it. If John would contact his bank with this information to ask why it is not in his account and provide documentation why they will not apply the money to his account we could reopen the complaint with our bank but as the money has reached his bank, my bank tell me there is no more we can do. It is a really disappointing this has happened as the stay in the chalet over New Year was very enjoyable.

Fantastic Chalet

  • 5 of 5

There is only one word to describe this chalet, perfect! It's really beautiful inside and out and one of the best located chalets in the resort. The layout inside worked really well for our party of 11, including 5 kids, with plenty of space.

Location wise, I don't think you could get any better. It's a minute or so walk to the gondola and you can ski down a fairly easy red run pretty much to the front door. It was a busy half term week so not having to fight for a parking space was great.

Thank you for helping to make our children's first ski holiday so special. We hope to return very soon. The Kettlewell and Gleave families.

Excellent accomodation and location, real home from home. Bedrooms ideally positioned in the chalet for large groups or two familiies. Brilliant drying area for ski jackets and boot drier.

Chalet was immaculate, beds comfortable.

Communication from owner excellent, quick and very informative.

Perfectly located for ski lifts, ski in/out. Excellent sking in Les Contamines.

We had a brilliant time and will certainly be back to stay in Le Bambi.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with a group of friends on a lads trip. 8 of us comfortably fit in, great access to lifts for the first snow- contamines not the craziest ski town in the world but there is definitely a few places where if you want to let your head down you can do so.. Quality of the skiing/ snowboarding beat expectations too.. Will be back next year

FANTASTIC FAMILY FUN!!

  • 5 of 5

For a hassle free winter holiday with kids I cant recommend this chalet enough.. We have stayed at other chalets in the past and what you gain on one thing you give up on another.. Here however, life is made easy on every front. Great location very close to the lifts (perfect for our young kids), short walk into town but other restaurants nearby and you’re staying in a real home- you can see the owners a) have kids (SKY television and Peppa pig DVD’!!) and b) have spent a lot of time here themselves as everything is set up to maximise enjoyment for young and old.. Loved that the downstairs area has its own privacy – great for our nanny/ older kids having their independence.

Les Contamines-Montjoie is truly a hidden gem. It is a picturesque alpine village which is full of charm and has one of the most enviable snowfall records. The north facing slopes are perfect for all abilities and most importantly they remain quiet and uncrowded throughout the ski season, which lasts up to the end of April. Snow boarders & cross-country skiers are also well catered for. Its fantastic location means that the nearby ski resorts of Megeve, St Gervais & Chamonix are all close by and ski passes are available to cover all these areas. The summer in Les Contamines opens up a whole different range of activities for all the family from walking in the breathtaking mountains to swimming in the new lake surrounded by its man-made beach. At the lake there is tennis and a huge playground with zip-wire course. Les Contamines is also on the Tour de Mont Blanc. Les Contamines is only 15mins from the A40 motorway and is less than an hours drive from Geneva or 8 hours from Calais.
