A stunning luxury penthouse with roof terrace access from every room

This is a beautiful apartment on the top floor of a modern building (there is a lift/elevator) with a totally private and vast wraparound roof terrace which offers amazing views of London, and is planted with an incredible mix of plants including olive trees, bamboo, conifers, lavender, yucca plants, and rosemary. It is an exceptional roof garden for an inner city apartment and offers a true oasis in the middle of the city. The apartment itself is incredibly light with floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors in all rooms which provide direct access onto the outside terrace. The apartment is beautifully furnished and the walls are covered in artwork from around the world. There is a very large open-plan living area with three sliding doors onto the outside terrace. There is plenty of comfortable seating and circular dining room table. The kitchen area is equipped to an exceptionally high standard with built-in microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer etc. There is Sky Digital TV and wireless internet connection throughout the apartment. The two bedrooms have large built-in wardrobes and direct access to the terrace. There is a bathroom with shower and heated towel rail. Guests will be left complementary bath and shower products as well as a gift pack of food stuffs selected from the Duchy of Cornwall's range. There is an excellent supermarket on the ground floor of the apartment building (separate entrance) which is open from 0700 to 2300 every day of the week, including weekends and bank holidays.

This stunning luxury penthouse apartment is based at the heart of the historic area of Limehouse and is only 3 minutes walk from the Limehouse station with direct trains to Oxford Circus (25 mins), the Tower of London/Tower Bridge (5 mins), the Olympic Park (16 mins), and London City Airport (15 mins). There is a bus stop outside the apartment block from where you can get buses to St Paul's Cathedral (15 mins) from where you can take a short walk across the Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern. You can also take a bus directly to Trafalgar Square and all the attractions of the West End of London.

One of the most interesting and historic areas on the River Thames - Wapping- is only a 10 minute walk from the apartment. There are multiple historic pubs and fine restaurants in this fascinating area of the city. From Wapping it is a further 15/20 minute walk along the Thames path to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, and from there you can continue your walk to the lively area of the Southbank with its many restaurants and cultural attractions, including the Tate Modern, the Royal Festival Hall, the British Film Institute, and the National Theatre.

If you walk the other way along the Thames path from the apartment you will reach Canary Wharf after about 10 minutes with its striking modern architecture and huge shopping malls with multiplex cinemas. From there you can continue down the Isle of Dogs and walk under the river itself through a historic pedestrian tunnel to Greenwich, home to the National Maritime Museum, the Greenwich Observatory, and the Cutty Sark.

This is a fantastic central location- only 3 minutes' walk from Limehouse station and yet when you are up in the penthouse, either inside the apartment or sitting outside on the huge roof terrace, you feel hidden away from the inner city life happening on the streets below. The roof garden is one of the largest and most beautiful in this area of London and offers guests the perfect retreat at the end of a day of sight-seeing. A true oasis of exotic plants in the centre of the city!

Of particular note is the exceptional roof terrace which wraps around the apartment- all rooms have direct access onto the terrace (85 square metres in total surface area). The terrace is very well planted and offers wonderful views across the city. There is soft-cushioned seating for six people as well as an outside dining table and two sun loungers.

A warm welcoming flat in London

It was a pleasure to stay at this property over the last cold winter season when London can appear quite bleak.

The flat is warm and welcoming with some interesting artifacts from the owner childhood days in South Africa.

It was perfect for staying in if the mood to explore London was not there as there were enough walks and restaurants and pubs around and equally if we wished to go into main London the public transport system was excellent. There also is a taxi service across the street which was very useful for days when we were in a hurry.

James was very thoughtful of our request for extra heating in the flat as we were travelling into London from a tropical country and were apprehensive that a flat with so much glass may also have difficulty in retaining heat but these fears were ill-founded and the flat was wonderfully warm.

The best part was that James was very responsive to our text messages and emails queries during our stay so we felt well supported in unfamiliar surroundings.

I felt so comfortable there that I would happily go back as it was very much a home away from home.

Our family of 3 enjoyed an unforgettable stay at the Lavender House for two weeks during the 2017 Christmas holiday. James greeted us upon arrival and showed us how everything works (washer/dryer and other appliances). Though the winter weather prevented us from spending time in the extensive, yet beautiful rooftop garden, packed with olive trees among other greenery, we were able to enjoy it through the floor-to-ceiling windows that framed the living room. The windows also provided an abundance of sunlight during the day and a cozy ambiance of London’s city lights at night. The flat itself is clean and well maintained with a well equipped kitchen, a roomy eating area, and comfortable beds. One of the best conveniences was the Sainsbury mini market just downstairs from the flat, which is open from 7am to 11pm. We often took the bus (no. 15) to Trafalgar Square from a bus stop conveniently located just in front of the building; the DLR is also about a 5 minutes walk. Despite the convenient public transportation, we enjoyed the short walk to the Thames River and Canary Wharf; we recommend a visit to The Grapes pub on Narrow Street for a meal. The area is completely safe to walk around day or night. We recommend the Lavender House to others.

Oasis in London!

James' apartment is a wonderful place to stay while in London! It is well apportioned, and he was an excellent host-communicating quickly to my questions, and met us early the day of our arrival on the Eurostar. There is a DLR stop about five minutes away, and two buses right outside the door, which will take you into central London in 15 minutes.

We stayed for a week at this lovely apartment and loved it!

The apartment is very well equipped with everything we needed. Beds are comfortable, place is quiet at night, outside space is really lovely. It was very easy to get into central London on the bus or train. We found some very nice restaurants in the East end and some interesting things to do and see.

Beautiful Apartment

I booked the apartment for my daughters to visit London. The apartment is beautiful, comfortable, safe and with convenient access to all sight seeing places. The view of the terrace is stunning and the grocery shop on G/F makes it perfect. My daughters enjoyed the stay very much which has made their London trip a great success. The host is very kind and responsive. We hope to stay there in our future visit to London.

This luxurious penthouse apartment with a large wrap-around roof terrace is ideally positioned to take advantage of all that London has to offer. The apartment is only 3 minutes' walk from Limehouse station which has regular trains into Central London (25 minutes to Oxford Circus), the Olympic stadium (16 minutes), Canary Wharf (5 minutes), and Tower Gateway for the Tower of London and Tower Bridge (5 minutes). The area of Limehouse itself is on the northern bank of the River Thames which is only a few minutes walk from the apartment- you can enjoy leisurely lunches and dinners in the many pubs and restaurants along the riverfront. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A MINIMUM 3 NIGHT STAY POLICY.
