About this property

Waterfront Tropical Paradise With A Spectacular Gulf View.

If you are looking for a waterfront vacation with a Key West feel, then this is your destination. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! This home is located toward the end of the exclusive peninsula of Driftwood Isles and is at the end of the road. Once you arrive you will notice that the house is spread over two lots with vacant lots on both sides. Beautiful canals border two sides of the property. If privacy is what you want then this is it.

Step into the front door to a beautifully remodeled home done in colors with a Key West theme. Both bedrooms feature walk in closets. The living room boasts a queen sleeper leather sofa in front of a 50" large screen tv. The dining area overlooks the Florida room and oh, what a room it is. 12'X30' long and completely shielded from the elements (if you want) or open one of 11 large screened windows to let the Gulf breeze through.

Walk out through the Florida room into the back yard and be prepared to have your breath taken away. The view is spectacular with water all around. Sit on the patio and have coffee or under the corner umbrella to enjoy a cold beverage. Dolphins and manatees are almost a daily sight as they move through the canal or into the Gulf. Like to fish? Snook, snapper, redfish, sheepshead and large jacks all swim in front of the seawall.

Got a fishing boat? Tie it to the floating dock or keep it at the local marina for 24 hour Gulf access. Access to the open Gulf is tide restrictive from the house. Contact the owner for more info. His and hers bikes are provided so you can take a ride around and see the sights. A one car garage and two covered carports keep your vehicles out of the weather. Like palm trees? There are no less than 37 palm trees on the property and one of the largest ear trees that you will ever see. The shade covers all of the Florida room and part of the house.

Sitting out on the patio by the water at night is an experience that you won't forget. The neighborhood is VERY quiet at night .

Great waterfront home
Had a fantastic stay here. Very comfortable home especially the beds. The home has everything you need for your vacation. The best part of course is being surrounded by water. Unfortunately we were there during a cold spell and could not take advantage of the outside space but can imagine how nice it would be in warm weather and seeing the sunset in the summer months. We have been in the area before at other times of the year and it’s great seeing the dolphins, manatees and birds here. A very quiet neighbourhood which is what we enjoy. Convenient for shops and restaurants. Ron & Lynda the owners are only a phone call or email away if you need them and were very helpful when we were making our travel arrangements. Keypad entry is a plus so no having to pick up keys. Would love to return.

Weekend visit with family
My mom and I stayed for a long weekend and was able to host my uncle and his family. The location was excellent as family was within 15 minutes. Gorgeous views of gulf and sunsets. We had a special visit of a dolphin fishing along the canal wall. Hosts were great.

Beautiful view and peaceful location
We enjoyed our stay, the beautiful view and peaceful neighborhood exceeded our expectations. Some days were windy so we spent time reading and eating in the sun room, which by the way has a perfect view of the Gulf and canal. A mother and baby dolphin came into the canal throughout the day to feed. What a wonderful experience. The home was comfortable and clean, the kitchen equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals. Our host was readily available to answer questions. We were looking for a really good seafood restaurant and Ron recommended “Inn on the Gulf” (less than 5 minutes away), and it exceeded our expectations! The food was outstanding. I highly recommend staying at this home, if we return to this area we will be booking this home again.

Dangerous home owners
These home owners accused us of the home having a funny smell and were sending me many phone calls and text messages, lying, texting me that i left a vaulable at their house in order to lure me back to the house. I am a small woman about 100 lbs. I am not sure what they would have done to me had i fell for their trap. I hope they take them off this site all together for public safety.

About the host

Hosted by Ron Mattson

Host profile image
We are Ron and Lynda from Winter Haven, Florida. Lynda is a mortgage loan officer and Ron is a blueberry farmer. We are both lifelong Floridians and absolutely love the Gulf. We bought this house and worked like crazy over the last 2 years to make it our own. That's why it doesn't look like a rental because we remodeled it the way that WE wanted. We never had any intentions of renting it but had an opportunity to purchase another home in the same neighborhood so we jumped on it.

Why they chose this property

Two words: The View.
Two more words: The Location. Driftwood Isles is kinda like it's own little world. Not part of town but close enough to bike ride there. Stuck out into the Gulf of Mexico, it has to be seen to be believed. Friendly mallard ducks, squirrels, all the wildlife that you could possibly want to see. Eagles, ospreys, diving birds, pelicans, parrots all call this area home. Just north of here is a wildlife preserve.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the property the day we saw it and put an offer in on it that day. While it didn't look like it does today, the potential was always there. We had been looking in Hudson for over 2 years before finding this home and knew it was the one when we saw it. The feeling of being on the water and this close to the Gulf is unbelievable.
