Quiet, Comfortable, Convenient, Our Favorite VRB0 Rental

This was our second stay and we enjoyed every minute of it. Paul was welcoming and helpful. The apartment is in a great neighborhood and a ten minute walk to the Underground. Stores, great restaurants and pubs are all close by. The apartment is a pleasant place to be, especially when you're tired. We love it!

Really the Best!

Took the family to London for a week and had an absolutely wonderful time staying at Paul's place! Our first time using Home Away (VRBO) and I was a little concerned about what we were in for, but Paul was so helpful and communicated right away whenever we needed him. It was a real pleasure and he made it so easy for us. The apartment is very comfortable and the location is so perfect. A few minutes walk to anything you may need! Notting Hill Tube is about 5 minutes walk and serves three of the most useful lines for getting around. If you don't want to walk, bus stop is right in front. Beds were very comfortable. Paul has several London guide books on the bookshelf that were very helpful in planning our days. The washer and dryer were a great bonus with our three kids and both work well. The neighborhood is also so interesting for walks when we wanted some down time. Groceries, restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, boutiques, all a couple minutes away. I don't think there's a better place to stay. We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit London, a week wasn't near enough!

Notting Hill -Excellent Flat and Location

I travelled with my daughter and two granddaughters, ages 9 and 12. The flat was good sized and had plenty of room for us and our belongings. It was comfortable and well stocked with almost everything we might have wished for, even a push trolley for going to the nearby groceries . We were grateful for it since we did cook most of our meals so we could accommodate a severe allergy. The only things we wished for that were not there were a cookie sheet and a small to medium sized frying pan. There was one quite large frying pan which we did use often, and plenty of pots of various sizes along with casseroles etc.

The apartment was in a good location, only a short walk to Notting Hill Gate for the tube . Busses stopped on the same block . There were shops of various types a few blocks away and it was not far to Portabello Rd. Market.

It was in a comfortable residential area and we enjoyed the spring flowers growing in yards as we walked to get groceries or take the tube.

Our flight arrived around 8:00 a.m. and Charles arranged for his son, Harvey, to meet us at the flat. It took us a long time to get through customs, maybe because it was spring break, but Harvey kept in touch with us and waited to meet us at the flat. He even asked if we wanted coffee since he was waiting at a nearby coffee shop. I appreciated that cup of coffee so much!

We found Harvey waiting out front when we arrived and he explained the locks, WiFi, TV and answered any questions we had. We said to call if we had any problems. We called once , he answered immediately, and a small problem was quickly resolved.

We would love to come back and stay here again !

Cozy flat with great location.

Our family of 5 was really comfortable in this flat. It is in an absolutely terrific location and the flat has all the amenities we needed. The beds were very comfortable, there were plenty of towels and the kitchen had what ever I needed. The owner was great and easy to deal with.

Perfect location and very practical accomodation

I echo the endless positive reviews of Paul's place. First thing - the location is a lovely residential neighborhood. Around the corner are gorgeous shops and restaurants in Westbourne Grove, not to mention all the options on Notting Hill Gate (tube stop a pleasant 10-12 minute walk). Portobello Rd is very close by as well.

It's also great for those of you who want to arrive/depart via the Heathrow Express train to Paddington (not cheap, but so hassle free. The tube is a nightmare when you have big luggage), which is then a relatively cheap uber or taxi ride away.

The flat is in a more "contemporary" building (with a lift!), but what you trade in old character/charm is made up for with practical accommodation. Both bedrooms are of good size - not true of many 2-bedroom flats on VRBO. The living/dining/kitchen space is a nice place to unwind at the end of a day. We had two sets of keys, which was very helpful.

As for our host, Paul is friendly, flexible and will work to help should there be any questions or issues. We had one small problem that he had fixed immediately - and he was gracious about it. He definitely cares about his guests.

I highly recommend this flat, particularly for those who relish the idea of staying in a really lovely residential neighborhood. I hope to come back sometime soon! Many thanks to Paul.

Wonderful little flat!

My wife, toddler, and I stayed here for several nights and it was one of the best VRBO experiences we have had. Paul met us at check-in and made sure that we knew where everything was and how to work things. He had a baby highchair and a crib there all ready for us, which saved us a huge hassle in renting those things for our toddler. The flat was very clean and everything worked.

Location wise it is good with some nearby restaurants and convenience stores. It's a little walk to a tube station, but not bad at all.

Would recommend this for someone to stay if they are visiting London!

Notting Hill is an affluent and fashionable area in London, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Notting Hill is known for attractive terraces of large Victorian town houses, and high-end shopping and restaurants (particularly around Westbourne Grove).

A lovely apartment based in Notting Hill Gate, only 3 minutes walk to Notting Hill tube, Kensington Palace and Gardens.

Close by is an excellent variety of pubs, cafes, bars and restaurants on Notting Hill Gate and Portobello Road, where the famous market takes place every weekend.

A walk across the park will take you to the Victoria & Albert and British Science Museums and the Royal Albert Hall.

A number of supermarkets are also close by, and Oxford Street and Westfield Shopping centre are a 5 minute bus ride away.

High Street Kensington and Holland Park are also walking distance.

Excellent transport links are walking distance away, including Notting Hill Gate, Queensway and Bayswater tube stations, and several bus routes.

Paddington rail station is a 5 minute drive away.

Ashdown Lodge is situated in peaceful Chepstow Villas in Notting Hill. Efficient local transport systems operate to all parts of London, and the West-End is just 10 minutes away by bus, taxi or underground train.
