The location of the flat is perfect, just 20-25 minutes walk to the historic centre with its famous sulfur thermal spa. It's in a quiet street (you will appreciate it, I promise!) with walking distance to Dry Bridge/Flea market, pedestrian-only Agmashenebeli Ave, Rustaveli Ave, Freedom Square, bus/"marshrutka" stops, local shops and take aways with traditional Georgian food - khachapuri, lobiani, apple pies. The restaurants in our area are very nice and much cheaper than in the centre. Make sure you try a restaurant called "Tiflis" on the Saarbrucken Sq. (please see photo) - ask for khinkali, ojakhuri, kebab, shashlik - grilled meats, salad with walnuts, beans in the pot with mchadi and marinated vegetables. Another good restaurant is on the river bank nearby.
If needed, there is a travel card for you to use, on the table in the kitchen area. You can load the card with any amount of money you like, and use it for travel on buses, the underground/metro, and the yellow minibuses - "marshrutkas". Marshrutkas price is usually GEL 0.80 (Lari - Georgian currency). A journey by bus and metro usually costs 0.50 Lari (50 tetri). Taxi is cheap in Tbilisi; however ALWAYS negotiate a price beforehand. A trip anywhere in the city should never cost more than 15 Lari (usually 5 Lari ). Please don't forget to leave the travel card for our next guests.
