About this property

Su Foxile Chalet with BBQ and Swimming Pool offered from 21 to 24 August

The 'Su Foxile ”chalet is a small stone villa with entirely wooden ceilings, full of charm, comfortable, quiet, with a fireplace and carefully furnished. It is located in an area of great environmental interest, full of itineraries and easily accessible natural beauty. The quiet and charm, which characterize the surrounding landscape, arouse deep emotions in the visitor; while the festivals and village festivals, organized in neighboring countries, allow him to appreciate the value of local traditions and food and wine proposals. The structure is surrounded by a very large private garden, equipped with barbecue, deck chairs and table with chairs and a small and comfortable swimming pool.
The villa, with private parking, is completely independent and is ideal for a family of 2 - 4 or more people, who want to spend a relaxing holiday in direct contact with nature, also through interesting excursions.

From the town of Aritzo, located in the center of Sardinia at the foot of the Gennargentu chain (the highest on the island), it is possible to quickly reach any tourist location and any center of historical and cultural interest, also for day trips. In about an hour, an hour and a half you can visit the beaches of the east, west and south coast of the island.

Environment and geographical location: The holiday in the center of the island presupposes a love for the environment and for oneself as well as of course ... for the person who lives this perhaps unforgettable experience with us.
There is only one place in Sardinia where being an Island is visual and the gaze has the opportunity to range all around on distant horizons of sky and sea:
The peaks of the Gennargentu.
Aritzo is one of the most important mountain tourist centers in Sardinia, in Barbagia at the foot of the Gennargentu Mountains.
The SU FOXILE Chalet is located on the Strada Statale 295 at km. 15 + 800 and is only 300 meters from the town of Aritzo and about a kilometer from that of Belvì.

As the summer draws to a close, the undoubtedly more varied and more pleasant season begins in Aritzo. In autumn nature is experienced with all senses: woods of a thousand colors, the scent of mushrooms, the rustle of leaves, chestnuts cooked in the fireplace .. a good glass of wine and lots of intimacy. Even from a gastronomic point of view, autumn has a lot to offer: the numerous wine fairs, the cheese festivals, the harvest festivals and the chestnut festivals are an irresistible invitation to give in to the delights of the palate.
Among our main objectives is the creation of moods in which a deep sense of inner peace dominates.

A traditional Sardinian home with wonderful views
The property is full of character with generous sized bedrooms and bathrooms and a comfortable bed. The lounge/dining/kitchen area overlooks a valley and has panoramic views which include the view of the nearby village of Aritso. The lounge has a convenient small bistro table where we sat and drank coffee and wine with a dining table that was well placed for enjoying the gorgeous views. The kitchen area is just that, a small area with a two-ring gas hob, microwave, sink, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. The kitchen was adequate. The nearby main road was pretty quiet and no impediment to enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside. Angelo was charming, welcoming and had a great sense of humour. To get the best communication with him (unless of course you speak Italian which to our shame, we didn't), WhatsApp is the preferred communication method. The garden was overgrown because of recent heavy rain but that didn't stop us enjoying the numerous butterflies and wild flowers that live there in abundance. The pool was well maintained by Angelo. It is a 10 minute walk into Aritzo where you will find several local stores, bars and a particularly good Pizza restaurant called S'Iscriscione Ristorante Pizzeria who also do very nice pasta dishes but often don't have some of the meat and fish shown on their menu. Many restaurants close on Mondays and S'Iscriscione kept rather irregular hours trending towards eating later (after 20:00) !! The surrounding countryside is breathtaking and the roads are generally very good indeed but be aware that your sat-nav is likely to take you down some VERY narrow cobblestone streets with sharp corners and numerous badly parked cars making passage even more interesting!! We had a fantastic time and highly recommend this cottage.

Quirky, rustic retreat in the heart of the mountains
Angelo was a most welcoming host, who helped us out quite a few times before and during our stay (usefully he lives in Aritzo, so very handy if needed). We were thankful of his basic English as we didn't speak any Italian. The house was exactly as described, and we most enjoyed the twin panoramic windows, from which you can see the sunrise and sunset across the town and surrounding valleys. We came for the walking, which was stunning even from the door (Sunflower and Cicerone books recommended). The town is 10 minutes easy walking from the house, has a few shops and eateries, and everyone we met was friendly even in the remotest parts. We left most satisfied with our authentic Sardinian experience!

Relaxing break
Lovely house in beautiful quiet location.the house has 2 nice bedrooms with ensuites and the living area gives super views over the valley.kitchen is basic but functional,we used the outdoor fantastic BBQ and ate outdoors as well.village is a short walk and is very friendly.bars are plentiful .the pizzeria la dada is good value and has good food with nice staff.there is a nice veg shop and 2 butchers and a small supermarket. Owner was very helpful kept in touch and was punctual and friendly.house was spotlessly clean, wifi is good. Would recommend this house as a peaceful spot and gives a good base for lots of walking routes..see the cicerone and the sunflower guides.

Rustic and Relaxing
The chalet is as described. Whilst it sits beneath the road coming out of Aritzo, we did not get disturbed by noise other than the odd teenager blaring out music as they drove past, but this was very infrequent. I am a light sleeper and had no trouble sleeping. The only noise at night was barking dogs in the valley below and the odd noise from the village donkey – both not enough to disrupt sleep! We rented out the whole chalet, as it is possible to rent the two ensuite bedrooms separately (which are both large, clean and comfortable), meaning that you could share the common parts of the chalet with others. As commented by another guest, the kitchen could do with slightly more utensils, but that is being a little picky, as we had enough to get by for the 10 relaxing days we stopped there. The pool was not available for use when we were there as Angelo said the weather had been bad the week before. It was not a problem for us but if you are banking on having use of the pool, check when you book. The drive to the chalet from its main gates is quite narrow and turning around is more than a three point turn, but with a small car this is not an issue. We enjoyed the views of the Artizo valley whilst reading on the top terrace. Angelo was a great host, speaking enough English to get everything across to us, as we do not speak Italian.

A hidden gem of a house w...
A hidden gem of a house with lovely surroundings, views, swimming pool and close-by to a busy village with tourist information centre. Great walks nearby and lovely scenery. Very helpful and friendly owner who lives nearby in the village and made us feel very welcome. We had a wonderful time and would go back again.
