About this property

Windsor Place House - A Stunning Tudor Mansion.

Windsor Place House.

A stunning Tudor mansion smack-bang in the centre of the historic town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Windsor Place House sleeps up to 8 people, consisting of 3 luxurious four poster bedrooms, a family bedroom, two reception rooms, a grand hall (of course), and a high-spec kitchen.

WPH is a Tudor building and over 400 years old. Therefore, it is on several levels and may not be suited to individuals with mobility problems.

There is a loading bay opposite and also Windsor Place is a quiet road where we have a tradesman’s entrance into the utility/kitchen area for unloading.
We have an agreement with a private carpark a short walk away for one car during your stay this is a secure carpark with a barrier and cctv.

Shrewsbury has just been voted one of the top 10 places to live in the UK. Its famous Tudor buildings and cobbled streets make it one of the prettiest towns in England.

The 1984 film, A Christmas Carol, was filmed right outside Windsor Place House.

There are so many independent cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques; you will never be short of interesting places to go. Also easy access to Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham, only one hour away. Also Chester is only 30 minutes away.

Unique place, fantastically situated
Overall we really enjoyed it. It’s really quirky and old, brimming with character including a life size Kung fu Panda. Lovely big house smack in the centre of Shrewsbury, so great for seeing the town. Only downsides the instructions for access are terrible and it’s difficult to find and that we couldn’t get the cooker to work and got no answer from the landlord when we emailed them.

Satisfactory, some areas need attention
This is a spacious property for up to eight people. It has quirky and interesting decor. Centrally located and convenient for restaurants, station and attractions. An historic Tudor house, some more information about the history would have been welcomed. Beds were comfy with good quality linens. However, many things need improvement. Car parking was difficult. The designated spaces in Chester Street are in a small area next to a church, with no markings, and have a “No Parking” sign in place! We found it impossible to find with the given instructions. When I spoke to Shelley, she was helpful, but informed me that she no longer worked for the house! My friend did manage to speak to Simon. In the Friday afternoon rush hour it took 30 mins to drive there. Providing a picture of it would have been helpful. The unloading bays by M&S are often full. We found it much easier to load up by the tradesmens door at the back when we left. On arrival in the house, the fridge was dirty and needed to be cleaned. Apart from small remnants on a few rolls, there was no toilet paper and we had to go out in the heavy rain and buy some! There was one dirty kitchen towel left out. There was no bag in the bin, we did manage to find some. The door of the dishwasher is faulty and difficult to open. There are 3 bathrooms and an additional 4 separate toilets. There were no towels provided for the toilets. There is a lack of mirrors in the bathrooms. The radiator did not work in the main en-suite. The property seems rather roughly finished in places, with prominent nail heads making walking on the floor boards uncomfortable. We found self catering for 8 people a little difficult with just one standard oven. Also, the main dining area is up a flight of stairs from the kitchen. We noticed that a number of these points had been mentioned in the visitors book by previous guests, but no action taken, hence we felt it pointless to comment again. We did not expect to experience these issues in a property in this price range .
