Fabulous. Very well located. Met all of our family needs and expectations.

  • 5 of 5

We are an English family of four, including a son of 20 and a daughter of 16 and stayed for 10 nights in July. The apartment was entirely suitable with plenty of space, and was clean and well equipped. We were greeted on arrival, and the deposit was returned when we left. We walked to the beach in the day, and restaurants and bars in the evenings. We also saw the usual sights which were all within easy reach. Metro and taxis no more expensive than London. A bus tour at the start of the holiday helped to get our bearings. We generally had the evening meal at least one street back from La Rambla, and never paid more than 100e for four mains with drinks, although it was necessary to challenge the bill on several occasions as we had been over charged for drinks. The area felt safe at all times of day and night, helped by a visible police presence. Highly recommended and we would stay again.

Carrer del Vidre-The Intersection of Lively and Fun

  • 5 of 5

Number 7 Carrer del Vidre is located a few paces from the very lively Plaza de Reial which thrives at all hours of the day and night. The balcony of this well equipped 3/2 apartment actually overlooks Carrer de Escudellers on the fourth floor above the narrow (and noisy) alley. The tourist traffic is mainly during the daylight hours and early evening while the parade of celebrating locals and visitors last well into the night and early morning hours. This part of the Barri Gotic is the happening place to be for activity. Fortunately, the windows and doors in the apartment keep the noise down and during the daylight hours, the street noise is minimal and will allow you to keep the windows open for the cool breezes that come off the sea. The location of the apartment is ideal for visiting all the major sites except for the Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera which require some form of transportation. There are a myriad of restaurants, tapas bars and pizza places nearby with various offerings. The coffee, pastry and take-out store located right on the corner offers quick and tasty fare to go. There is also a bakery down the alley as well as many other eateries on nearby George Orwell plaza. There are local grocery stores around the corner for your immediate needs. The marina area is a short walk away as is the ever famous Las Ramblas. The apartment features a washer and dryer which is very handy and the bathrooms are adjacent to each other outside of the bedrooms. The shower is small but adequate and there needs to be more shelf space for items in both bathrooms. There is plenty of hot water and the manager has pledged to fix the low flow of hot water out of the kitchen faucet. The wireless modem works great (we needed this for our workcation) as does the TV. The plastic dinning room chairs are functional-just don't sit in them too long. The refrigerator/freezer works great as does the electric stove/oven. We had to buy a paring knife along with salt/sugar/spices/other stuff normally found in an apartment but no big deal. The lift works well as long as the other inhabitants remember to close the elevator doors on the upper floors. The building lobby can be in various states of cleanliness but this just adds to the experience. It's the Barri Gotic- beautiful, gritty, surreal, highly enjoyable and full of history come alive. The owners/managers are gracious and will work with you to accommodate your requests. Great experience.

Rambling Las Ramblas

  • 5 of 5

Four of us, two couples, stayed here when we visited Barcelona.

The accommodations worked well for us. The apartment is located on a quiet street within walking distance of Las Ramblas, El Mercado, Placa Catalonia, the waterfront, Placa Real and lots of restaurants.

The apartment is clean, and well maintained. It has two small bedrooms and one larger one. The two bedrooms which face the street are pretty well sound proofed. Our traveling companions reported hearing loud voices, briefly. My wife and I took the bedroom which has a window opening onto an air shaft. We slept comfortably with the window open.

The two bathrooms are off the hall. One is a full bath. The other has small shower.

The kitchen is set up for long term living but we really didn't use the facilities. We did use the washing machine and the dryer.

When we travel, accommodations like this apartment are perfect. We get our coffee in the morning then we're gone till it's time for shower and bed.

The apartment is very secure with a lock on the door at street level and a heavy duty lockable door at the entrance to the apartment.

Javier, the owner and host is friendly and knowledgeable about things to do, nearby. Natasha, his assistant, likewise is very knowledgeable. She is British and helps Javier (who really does speak good English) with any translation issues. She is married to a Barcelona policeman and in that capacity was able to give us tips on staying safe.

Two complaints.

The elevator smells of urine. We wondered if neighbors' dogs might be the culprits.

The other is with the door lock itself. As it is, a key is required to unlock the door from inside the apartment. A turn button on the inside is safer in case of an emergency requiring a panicked evacuation.

Comfortable Apartment

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the apartment with 2 friends for a girl's trip. There was plenty of space for the 3 of us to spread out. Javier was at the apartment upon our arrival. He gave us info on where to find the closest metro, market, grocery store, etc. Javier was very quick to fix a light issue we had in a bathroom. Las Ramblas is just a block away and we were able to find cabs there fairly quickly. The beach isn't too far of a walk away either. I will recommend this place to any of my friends who plan to travel to Barcelona in the future.

Great Apartment

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this apartment with two other people. It was more than enough space. The host was very responsive and helpful with local recommendation. It was centrally located to a lot of locations, especially Las Ramblas. If I come back to Barcelona, I will definitely stay here again.

Clean apartment in a poorly maintained building

  • 3 of 5

We spent two weeks with another couple in this spacious apartment. The apartment was clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was adequate but we had to buy some dishes to be able to use the oven. While there is sleeping for 6, seating is really adequate for 4 adults. The owner was very helpful and responsive to our emails but we were disappointed with our Greeter who left us standing on the street for 20 min. at the arrival, was also late for the check-out and showed no interest in providing info. The building interior and elevator were very smelly and very noisy in the evenings and nights. It was well located, at the very center of the old town but be prepared for dirty and crowded streets around the location of apartment. We loved Barcelona and we were close to everything. We recommend the bus tour that gives an ideal overview of the city and its main attractions.

Elegant refurbished apartment right in the centre of Barcelona old town - just one minute from 'Las Ramblas'. The 'Plaza Real' apartment is a new apartment, which can sleep up to 6 people very comfortably. This apartment is situated in the very heart of the city, next to the 'Placa Real' and next to Las Ramblas, in the Gothic Neighbourhood.

The location of the apartment is perfect. Just a minute walk to 'Las Ramblas', and the adjoining 'Plaza Real' (Royal Square), is always a bustling mixture of locals and tourists, sitting in the sun in many of the pavement cafés and bars. Explore the Gothic Quarter around you, with the Cathedral, many individual shops and restaurants, the Picasso Museum, and the world famous 'Ramblas'. From here, journey down to the Port, to visit the Maremagnum shopping mall, the harbour, the city's aquarium, and IMAX cinema.

Or venture north, to the city's main square, Placa Catalunya, and Paseo de Gracia, to see some of Gaudi's unmistakeable works. All in all, a great apartment, and a great location !!
